Chapter 185
Chapter 185
Emily kept her head down, so Leon couldn’t tell what kind of mood she was in. He took the initiative to speak first.
“Go inside and rest. Weren’t you feeling unwell?”
“It’s really nothing serious,” Emily replied softly. “You came because you heard something from Gus, didn’t you?”
“Yeah. Gus also asked me to bring you the fabric you wanted.” Leon lifted the long, wrapped package in his hand.
“Just give it to me. I’m fine, you can head back.” Emily quickly took the package from him, then urged him to leave.

“Just give it to me. I’m fine, you can head back.” Emily quickly took the package from him, then urged him to leave.Leon looked at her in puzzlement. She seemed energetic enough, but her voice was a little weak, and the way she stood was awkward. Something felt off.
His eyes wandered casually toward her room. When he spotted certain… unmistakable personal items, he immediately understood.
Ah. That explained the odd behavior and her hurry to get rid of him—it was that time of the month.
Pretending not to have noticed, Leon said gently, “Alright, then rest well.”
He made as if to leave, but Emily hesitated, then decided to walk him to the door.
However, Leon, seeing her intention, stopped her and nudged her back into the room, even closing the door behind her with care.
With no choice, Emily stayed put, while Leon found Haley yawning in the living room.
“See? I told you there was nothing wrong, but you insisted on going in. Got chased out, didn’t you?” Haley teased with a grin.
“Yeah. By the way, do you have any roses at home?” Leon asked, ignoring her joke.
“We do. Why? Want tea?” Haley looked at him curiously.
“Brew a cup of hot rose tea for Emily. It’ll help with her current situation. If you ever run into the same problem, rose tea can help you too,” Leon explained.
Given that Stardew Valley’s culture leaned Western, Leon had seen white sugar here but no brown sugar. The only remedy that came to mind was rose tea. It could promote circulation, ease tension, calm the nerves, and help with fatigue—perfect for this kind of discomfort.
Haley’s mouth fell open. She stared at Leon for a long moment before stammering, “You… you know what’s going on with Emily?”
“Yeah.”
Leon nodded. After all, he wasn’t some clueless bachelor—he’d had girlfriends before. Telling a girl to “drink more hot water” during this time usually ended badly. Offering brown sugar water and a hot water bottle was a far safer bet.
“You… you… you—” Haley kept repeating the word, utterly baffled as to how Leon had figured it out.
Leon explained matter-of-factly, “We had health classes, you know. It’s nothing to be shocked about.”
“Oh.” Haley understood then and wasn’t quite as surprised.
“But does rose tea really work?” she asked.
“Better than nothing. The best is still brown sugar water. Brown sugar—it’s a type of cane sugar, reddish in color. Oh, and a hot water bottle works too. Great for relieving symptoms.” Leon began explaining.
Haley just looked confused. She’d never even heard of brown sugar or hot water bottles.
“Just make the rose tea,” Leon said.
One glance at her face told him he’d wandered into her knowledge blind spots. There was no point in overwhelming this poor Western girl with ancient Eastern remedies.
“Oh.” Haley nodded obediently. She felt a little embarrassed, not only for her lack of knowledge but also for how much Leon seemed to know.
His job done, Leon left Emily’s house. But before he could get on his bike, a familiar voice called out.
“Hi! Leon, long time no see,” Jodi greeted warmly.
“Hey, Jodi.” Leon waved back. Seeing the laundry basin in her hands, filled with wet clothes, he guessed she was out to hang them.
“Coming from Emily’s place, huh? Didn’t expect you two to be so close now,” Jodi said with a teasing smile.
“Yeah, we’re just friends,” Leon replied, remembering the last time Jodi had arranged that not-so-subtle dinner. He couldn’t help but feel a bit helpless.
“Friends are good. You’re still new to Pelican Town, so you should meet more people to fit in,” Jodi nodded. “How’s farm life lately?”
“Not bad. Things are starting to settle into a routine—plenty to keep me busy,” Leon said, casually looking for a chance to slip away.
“Alright, I won’t keep you. Oh, and when your cauliflower is ready, I’d like to reserve one. I’ll pay, of course—but make sure it’s a big, beautiful one,” Jodi added quickly.
“Absolutely. When it’s ready, I’ll deliver it to you myself,” Leon promised. After saying goodbye, he hopped on his bike and headed for the farm.
He’d been out for a while, and he wanted to check how Demetrius’s cave renovation was going. But on the ride back, he couldn’t shake the feeling he’d forgotten something—though what exactly, he couldn’t recall.
When Leon arrived, he found Demetrius sitting on the pickup truck Leon had driven earlier, eating from a lunchbox packed with fruit, vegetables, and fried chicken. Judging by the pink lunchbox, Leon figured Robin had made it for him.
“Mr. Demetrius, having lunch? How’s the cave renovation going?” Leon asked, mainly to check on the progress.
“Halfway done. Should be finished before dark,” Demetrius replied, his expression a little sour, but still giving an update.
“Good, good. Thanks for your hard work,” Leon said cheerfully.
In his mind, however, he pictured far darker scenarios—like cracking a whip and shouting, “Go work!” Maybe that would boost Demetrius’s efficiency.
