Chapter 78: The Reinforced Gargoyle
Chapter 78: The Reinforced Gargoyle
"Not too shabby." Verso said with a grin, watching the final blue window fade.
Out of the eight fusion attempts he had just performed, only two had failed.
The failure had been pretty direct, completely deleting the four Primitive beast souls on the spot, but the six successes were more than enough to make up for the loss.
With the seven new Stone Golems in his inventory, including the one he had fused earlier, he did not stop.
He began using these fresh souls as synthesis material because unlike his other Stone Golems, these ones were not at Hundred percent maxed out.
By the time he was finished, he had produced one completely maxed out Mutant Stone Golem, while also pushing his Gargoyle and the Nameless Skeleton to their hundred percent caps.
’I really want to test the limits of this...’ Feeling an itch Verso did not stop there.
He instantly opened the menu again.
But this time, his eyes hovered over the two most powerful souls he currently had in his summoning space.
’What will happen if I fuse a Stone Golem with a Gargoyle.’
He decided to selected both summons that he had just freshly maxed out as he a compatibility bar showed up on the blue window.
[Beast Soul Compatibility: 65%]
[Would You Like To Proceed?]
’Sixty five percent... that’s a little low.’
Verso hesitated for a moment, but the feeling of wanting to test out the limits of his new function was too strong for him to ignore.
He decided to proceed as the window vanished and for a heartbeat the hotel room went completely silent.
Then, a sharp mechanical chime rang out in his head.
[Beast Soul Acquired: Reinforced Gargoyle]
"No fucking way it worked!" Verso sat up straight, his eyes nearly popping out of his head.
"Is it an elite?" He frantically pulled up his new summons status window.
---
[✦Summon Window✦]
Name: Reinforced Gargoyle
Title: -
Rank: Elite (0%)

[Strength: 19]
[Agility: 23]
[Endurance: 24]
[Mana: 19]
Manifestation: [Spear]

---
"It is an elite!" He shouted the words into the empty hotel room.
Although the stats of his new summon were borderline trash compared to a natural Elite tier beast like the Sea Serpent, it was still a massive leap over any Mutant rank as every time a monster’s tier increases they undergo massive quality changes.
Verso held his head in his hands trying to understand what just happened, a hysterical laugh bubbling up in his chest.
’This must be a fucking joke.’
Getting his first Elite summon had been an agonizing struggle for him, a cycle of dying again and again in the system realm until he had finally triumphed over the Serpent.
But this second one? He had just crafted it while laying on a comfortable bed in a hotel room.
The urge to test it out was overwhelming, which reminded him of the notification he had received during the exam.
’I can visit The Lost Island.’
The system had downloaded the dungeon data the moment he had entered it in the real world. He quickly focused on the Realm Menu and pulled up the window.
---
[✦Realm Menu✦]
Available Realms:
1. The Shattered Wilds (Unavailable)
2. Land of Atlantis (Available)
3. The Lost Island (Available)
Locked Realms:
???
???

"This is perfect." Verso chuckled as he laid down on his bed and focused on the new realm that he had unlocked as a familiar pull from the system took over him.
[Entering Realm: The Lost Island]
------
Opening his eyes, Verso found himself standing on the familiar mountain peak.
"This place looks exactly the same..."
The air was just as humid as could remember.
From the scent of salt, to the view of the beach below, all of it appeared identical to the dungeon he had entered during the exam just a few hours ago, all except for one glaring detail in the distance.
’The Rocky Islands...’
From his high vantage point, Verso could see the chain of rocky islands where he had hunted the sirens.
In the real world, they had looked like jagged rocky stubs in the ocean. Here, in the system realm, their shape was completely different.
They were tall, curved and pointed, shaped exactly like massive teeth.
’It almost looks like some sort of beast is trying to eat the main island whole.’
He looked around the horizon.
Every island was equally distant, rising out of the water like the lower jaw of a gargantuan monster with its maw open wide, ready to swallow the center island from below.
"I guess there’s only one way to find out more about this place."
A smile appeared on his face as he flicked his wrist.
A massive portal tore open in the sky above him, and a shadow descended with a heavy thrashing sound of wings.
When the creature landed on the ground, the mountain top shook under its sheer mass.
The Reinforced Gargoyle stood nearly eight feet tall like a hulking beast made up of grey stone and blue mana.
Sun like, yellow glowing runes pulsed across its chest and wings, humming with a low frequency, the vibrations of which could be felt in the air.
The beast was not as sleek as the Serpent or as bulky as the Golems, but it possessed something neither of them did.
’I did not really think I would end up getting such a fancy ride this quickly...’
Getting its master’s mental command, the massive Gargoyle bowed low, its stone joints grinding together making a loud screeching sound. It allowed Verso to climb onto its broad back which was covered in yellow ruins.
Getting on top of the summon Verso gripped the ridges of its neck tight before giving the command.
"Let’s get going, I want to see what this place is about."
The beast roared, its massive wings snapping open and catching the wind and in a single, powerful surge as it shot straight into the air, leaving the mountain top behind.
’If the Siren’s are still here, it is a going to be just a matter of time before I get my hands on another elite creature.’
