SSS Awakening: Only My Summons Evolve

Chapter 49: Water Manipulation

Chapter 49: Water Manipulation

The bus hummed quietly as it sliced through the morning traffic of Emerald City.

Verso sat leaning against the window, his eyes were looking over the massive city. But his mind was focused entirely on the translucent blue window floating in his field of vision.

He was staring at the new and improved status of the first ever summon he had received.

"This is a complete game changer." Verso whispered to himself.

Although the stat jump was non existent with Lil Bone only having an eleven on all of its attributes.

The real prize that Verso saw, was the manifestation.

Back at the hotel, Verso had tested the weapon. It was a massive, double handed scythe which was completely pitch black in color and radiated an aura so ominous that it made the air in the room feel heavy.

And the best part about all of this was that Lil Bone did not even need Verso to provide a physical weapon anymore.

The new [Dark Scythe] ability that it had received after evolving allowed the skeleton to manifest its own scythe using mana.

’But my own stats...’

Verso’s thoughts drifted as he opened his own status window.

Despite the breakthrough in rank, his numbers hadn’t budged.

Although the Apprentice rank increased his cap, allowing him to reach the new threshold of twenty for each attribute. He was completely unable to get his hands on Attribute Crystals.

He did not have access to any Mutant monsters that he could hunt as The Shattered Wilds was still unavailable, while the Land of Atlantis did not harbor any beast weaker than elite.

’It’s not like I have time either.’

He thought about the exam happening soon as he looked out at the passing skyscrapers but an uneasy feeling kept eating away at him.

He had developed a restless, almost unhealthy habit.

Every spare second he had, he wanted to be in the realms. The lockout had been a forced vacation he had not wanted.

And now that Atlantis was back, he had set a new goal for himself.

’I need to get that Serpent.’

Han’s words about the Great Clans echoed in his head.

If some of those kids were monsters who had went out and hunted their own Elite beasts, then Verso could not show up to the exam with just a handful of Mutants.

He needed an Elite of his own.

He pulled his hoodie over his head, closed his eyes and focused on the Realm Menu, letting that feeling of drowsiness take him away.

[Entering: Land of Atlantis]

------

The cold embrace of the ocean welcomed him as he opened his eyes.

Verso floated in the center of the flooded temple, his Son of The Seas talent letting him breathe and making the water around him feel like his natural domain.

Before he could land on the ground, he swiped his hand as he pulled a something out of his summoning space.

A swirl of black smoke fought against the water pressure as it folded into the matte black executioner.

Lil Bone immediately tried to strike a cool pose by crossing its arms and tilting its head. But the second it realized that it was surrounded by water, it panicked.

It slapped both skeletal hands over its mouth, its red fiery eyes flickering wildly as it kicked its legs in a frantic attempt to find a surface that didn’t exist.

’You idiot, you don’t have lungs.’ Verso scolded the beast with a frown.

Hearing its master, the skeleton paused with its hand still glued to its jaw.

It slowly looked at its own ribcage, then back at Verso but it did not let go.

Slowly, it sank to the floor of the temple, standing on the stone tiles while holding its nonexistent breath.

Seeing this, Verso let out a bubble filled sigh.

"I just want to try something."

He extended his hand, focusing on the water molecules surrounding the skeleton’s feet.

’Water Manipulation’

In the past month, he had only used this ability as if it was a toy, only using it to make ripples in a lake or splash a classmate.

But here, deep under the ocean, the water felt like an extension of his own nervous system.

’Please work... please work...’

He visualized the water beneath Lil Bone as a solid platform, then commanded it to rise.

Suddenly, the skeleton was jerked upward.

It started levitating through the water, guided by the currents that Verso was weaving.

Surprised by the sudden flight, Lil Bone let go of its mouth to flail its arms.

The moment it did, it remembered that it was drowning and began clutching its neck, fully acting out a dramatic death scene while floating ten feet off the ground.

"It works!"

Verso completely ignored the skeleton’s overacting. He had already spent enough time with Lil Bone to know its personality was about ninety percent drama.

What mattered more to him was that he had figured out a way to finally help him summons move around in the water.

If his Golems were too heavy to swim, he could simply carry them with the water now.

Unphased by the skeleton, which was now drifting in the water and playing dead, Verso felt a sinister smile spread across his face.

The Sea Serpent was fast, lethal and could even shred a Goliath in one bite. But it was still a creature led by its instincts.

While Verso who was the master of the ’Explosive Gambit’ he had just unlocked the ability to deliver his nukes with flying precision.

"Let’s see how it likes a flying Giant." Verso whispered.
