SSS Awakening: Only My Summons Evolve

Chapter 36: Passive Mana Cultivation

Chapter 36: Passive Mana Cultivation

"..."

"No way."

Verso sat frozen on his bed, his eyes locked onto the glowing green window that had just appeared in front of him as he took in what the system had just said.

The hum of mana that was moving around in the room did not go away despite Verso losing his concentration.

He stared at the text on the window for several seconds before reality finally caught up to him.

He grabbed his head hard with both hands as a wave of immediate regret washed over him.

"I am such an idiot!"

It made perfect sense. If the system was designed to optimize his growth speed as a summoner, of course it would have a function for mana cultivation.

But instead he had spent the last week avoiding mana cultivation like it was a disease while he spent all of his time hunting and gathering beast souls to get stronger.

He had secretly hoped that he would never have to spend a single second cultivating because of his talent and could just outright absorb mana into his core from the monsters he had killed.

"AAAHH!"

Verso groaned out loud, pulling at his hair in pure embarrassment. The silence in the dorm room only made his frustration louder.

"The system must be playing a joke on me." He muttered, his face turning a shade of red.

"Why didn’t you tell me about this beforehand?!"

He shouted the question at the empty air, waiting for a mechanical reply but the system remained silent.

The system did not offer him tutorials or answers, it only served him as a tool which indirectly meant that there was no one to blame but himself.

Verso took a deep breath realizing his mistake as he tried to calm himself down as he turned to look at the green system window.

---

[Passive Mana Cultivation]

Active Cultivation Technique:

Standard Mana Cultivation TechniqueCurrent Speed: 5% / Day

Technique Advantage: -

---

He stared at the window reading all the information on it as his tactical mind quickly took over.

’This is like multitasking...’

The function was exactly what the name implied.

The system was now running the standard cultivation technique, the exact one that the school had provided him with during the natural awakening ceremony.

It looked like the function allowed him to cultivate without putting in the conscious effort,

This meant that he could eat, sleep, and even hunt while the system slowly compressed his mana into a core.

He started doing some math in his head.

It would usually take a normal student with an average talent around two to three months of dedicated, seated meditation to condense their core and breakthrough.

But because the system never stopped, his speed was effectively tripled.

’Exams are in three weeks...’

At five percent a day, he would hit one hundred percent in exactly twenty days.

"I should make it just before the exams." Verso said, a sense of relief replacing his embarrassment.

As he let out a relax sigh, he slumped down and laid back flat on his bed staring at the ceiling.

Slowly, the cogs in his head began to turn. This new function changed his entire training schedule.

He did not have to spend his days in boring meditation anymore. Which meant that he had been given a massive window of free time.

And he had no intention of wasting all of this time by sitting around in the classroom.

"This is perfect."

He sat up again and pulled up the Synthesis Menu.

He only had two Mutant rank Stone Golems left after the duel with Xavier. Looking at both of them in the menu he thought for a moment about what he was about to do.

Then making up his mind, he selected the first one as the base and then selected the second as the material.

[Synthesis Complete.]

Verso pulled up the status window of his newly synthesized summon.

---

[✦Summon Window✦]

Name: Stone Golem

Title: -

Rank: Mutant (33%)

Stats:

[Strength: 15]

[Agility: 13]

[Endurance: 14]

[Mana: 13]

Manifestation: [Two-Handed Hammer]

Abilities: [Energized Rush] [Mana Beam] [Self Destruct]

---

’Thirty-three percent...’

The percentage had only risen by a third.

This meant that to max out the Mutant rank golem, he would need to synthesize a total of three mutant beasts into it.

This was a pretty steep price, but it gave him a pretty clear objective for the next few weeks.

"Well, what better time to grind some summons than now?"

A wider, more sinister smile spread across his face.

He slowly closed his eyes and laid back down on the bed as he started focusing the familiar system function.

Soon enough, the familiar sensation of drowsiness kicked in.

[Entering: The Shattered Wilds]

---

Verso opened his eyes and found himself standing in the familiar clearing.

He didn’t waste a second as he burst into a sprint heading straight for the crater where the giants roamed.

’Time to farm buddy.’ He though as he pulled Lil Bone out of his summoning space.

The marble skeleton appeared out of a grey tear in space as it fell down and slid across the dirt.

"You know the drill!" Verso yelled over his shoulder, not slowing down.

"I will be clearing the trail, you go get the the Minors!"

Lil Bone watched as Verso jumped and disappeared over the ridge of the crater.

The skeleton stood there for a moment, tilting its head as it looked down at its empty hands, then back at the ridge then down at its hands again.

Verso had been in such a hurry to start the grind that he had not manifested a stone hammers for the skeleton to use.

Lil Bone let out a long, silent sigh that seemed to rattle its ribcage as it slapped its bony palm against its forehead in a gesture of pure frustration before slowly walking down into the crater, weaponless and annoyed.

Down on the trail, Verso was already scanning the horizon. He could see the faint blue glow of a nine foot golem patrolling in the distance.

"Let’s see how much we can get done in these few weeks."
