Chapter 98: Mixed In

Chapter 98: Mixed In

The remainder of the class had filled everyone's head with new strategy ideas. It was a lot to handle all at once since they were having to build some new techniques on the spot. "I just think it will be easier for everyone if we had more battle classes." Maria had the realization that there could not be enough classes to teach them all the things they needed to learn.

"There are specific classes for some weapons. But that's why everyone is encouraged to find a mentor or older student." Clark knew this was the technically right answer. Unfortunately, his mentor had mostly just given him supplies and manipulated a few instances. He had not directly trained with Alexander.

"And if we take those classes everyone will figure us out." Maria was still in a huff. She liked that Clark had made her an alternate persona; Blue, who could go out without the constant stares of disapproval from the families under the Mane family's control. It made her feel free.

"Then we will train alone and use the library. You act like-" Clark froze. He was looking at something he didn't expect to see.

There were ten large stalls set up in the middle of the student courtyard where most students passed through as the day went on. They had many items and crowds of students looking at them. There were even beast eggs kept in large glass containers for show with other students in uniforms trying to sell them.

"You two are first years, right? I can tell by the way you look." One girl passing by found it funny that most first years always froze when they saw this sight. "It's the first quarter student sales event. There is one every quarter of the year. This is one of the week long tests for students that forge, craft, sell, and even mine with their pets. There's more but it's pretty cool.

Good luck finding something." The girl walked off to a group of friends laughing about the first years.

There was nothing that made Clark feel bad about not knowing. This was a very nice surprise that would happen often enough to look forward to. He might find a future genius selling their items or even a rare item that a student had been lucky enough to find.

"We are going to look, right?" Maria was already showing signs of running off toward the stalls. She had the desire to see everything. If she could find something amazing she could use her potion of the horned rabbit gold to get it.

"If I said no to that, I would expect you to slap me. Let's go." Clark was excited. It wasn't just the different armors or materials that he was excited about. He wanted to see the beast eggs. There was a chance that there were some rare ones he could purchase at a lower price and sell for more.

He wasn't in the market for a new beast, just trying to use his system's analysis to the best of its ability.

The glass containers that held the beast eggs were specially made. Clark had seen them before but it was easier to just ask why these ones were different than the others he had seen in the large city markets. "What sets these containers aside from the average ones?" The student that heard this in uniform seemed to be used to this question.

"These are made by Nova academy to have unique tracking runes. Tracking runes can't just be added to anything. They require a certain metal and beast to carve them. That makes them safer and better for transport." The student quickly moved to another question. He appeared very knowledgeable which meant his grade would end up being very high.

"That sounds perfect for when they are out hunting for beast eggs. It also helps for the rescue of the person hunting." Maria saw the true value over just the beast egg being collected. There was a high chance that a beast would defend its eggs with its life leaving a tamer injured.

They could always wait for someone to happen upon them or with these beast storage containers, they could be found sooner.

"I'm going to take a look at the eggs. I want to see what I can test myself on from my reading." Clark was sure that Maria believed he was just reading about beast identification. However, he would eventually start to know too much. People would become very suspicious of how he knew such things.

It occurred to him that he might be better off taking beast breeding classes or attending beast egg hatching lectures.

'Starlight newt- rare

The starlight newt is a nocturnal newt with the power over light and water. They can grow larger than most beasts but require a large amount of starlight and water. They are very susceptible to poisons but extremely resistant to the cold. They can create blades of floating light to attack their prey. This skill is aptly named star spear….'

The starlight newt eggs were at least seven in total. Clark knew that it had to have been a nest of them found. While they had a very solid weakness, Clark was sure that they would be a great beast for someone that needed a secondary beast.

The next set of eggs were green monkeys which were better for household chores and rarely used for battle. The hairy tarantulas were also more or less home used beasts since they produced silk and had weak poison. It was too easy to see that these beasts were gathered just to make a grade. Most of the students wouldn't actually buy them unless they were gifts for family.

'Triple headed serpent- Rare

The triple headed serpent is a rare beast with three core typings due to the mutation it has at birth. The water, darkness, and poison typing are restricted to each head having one. They have tough scales and moderate agility. It is very hard to raise these beasts due to their strange material requirements. The beast materials…'

This was a surprise. The triple headed snake was in the mix of two headed snake eggs. Buy the egg looked fairly different. It was larger and had a different striation pattern on the black surface of the eggshell. It was clearly there to make someone look for it. However, no one seemed to notice it as they glanced over the two headed snake eggs.

"Excuse me, why is there a triple headed snake mixed in?" The professor on the side that Clark spoke to was in matching uniform as the students. Clark assumed this was one of their professors overseeing things.

"Oh, that? It's a test to see who I will invite to my class. My students know but the first years like you don't. Come tomorrow after your main class training. The research hall has an egg identification course. Monster analysis lectures.

A lot of things for you to learn. There is a lot of gold and reputation on beast recognition." The professor handed a single card to Clark.

The pass Clark held was able to let him walk in to any class within the research center. It was incredibly unexpected. But before Clark could ask questions the professor had run off to yell at a student trying to touch the eggs.
