Chapter 735: A Push

Chapter 735: A Push

'Sun bather lizard- common

The sun bather lizard is a beast that is both earth and light type. Because it enjoys the light from the sin, it will eat rocks that are darker in color so that its small scales develop the same darker colors, from there, it will be able to absorb more light energy to attack with.

The light energy it attacks with is often in the form of small beams and sparks of light which end up generating fire. They are often too weak to do much unless the sun bather lizard has grown in to a solar lizard.

While they are often ignored by anything that isn't keen on eating them, many people hunt them to use their fine scales for decorative armor or even robes. Their tails can be used to make a unique healing potion for those that struggle with darkness related injuries…'

There were many of these sun bather lizards darting through the rocks trying to find the ideal places to bathe in the sun. the group just walked around them since they had nor easy way to hunt them in bulk. that didn't stop Karia from snagging a few.

What surprised her though, was that the tails easily popped off the sun bather lizards allowing them to escape. She didn't even need to kill them! This was similar to many lizards in the world, not all of them, but a welcome surprise when it came to the rough gathering of alchemy ingredients.

"You have barely even made any potions. Why do you keep getting ingredients? Your entire capital ring has to be only alchemy ingredients now." Ralph gave Reese a questioning look. This wasn't like him at all. To be fair, it was more like he himself would say this rather than reese.

"Do you have a problem with how I am gathering supplies for when I am good enough to use them all?" Maria reacted with a little annoyance in her tone. It felt that they had just walked in to aqa different world.

"Clark, you see this, right?" Ralph's question broke Clark from his own small shocked state.

"You are the calm one here…? How?" Now Clark was confused. But he saw that Reese was holding three potions in his hand. And began to understand a few things.

"Isa was only able to buy a few potions. But she is buying us potions and ingredients now. Ingredients for potions that aren't being made. So, you should make some unless you just want to hoard every herb possible."

"Reese, what I do with business is my decision." Isa was sure that Reese was just worried that she was losing her profits because she was buying a lot of things they were just sitting on.

"No, the business includes all of us. I have been getting the materials I need and using them to grow stronger. But right now, we only have basic potions to our names. We have the ingredients. We have the resting time. So why can't I expect to see those ingredients get used?"

He made a good point and Maria was forced to shake away her annoyance with how he had brought this up. "While I would like to, I need to make sure I don't waste them when I fail. I need to make every single one count."

"No, you need to fail to get better. So use them and show us what the gold that Isa works hard to keep flowing is getting us. Eventually, we will go back to beast plans mostly and not wander around. What will we do when the herbs costs more because they are from far away?" This was another good point.

When they had handled their issues and were not traveling all the time, it made a lot of sense that they would not run in to some herbs that they were seeing now as often. Therefore, the prices would rise higher and higher.

Isa would also have to allocate funds elsewhere rather than tp herbs she didn't get a return on. To the beast plan materials that the group used for the clients. To making more beast plans. And even to search for materials that were needed for a beast plan. These were just basic services of beast planning businesses. They all cost money to run though.

"So tonight you should show off and make some basic healing potions. Can you do that?" Grace gave Maria a slight nudge. Her sudden interjection with an air of positive intent cut away the heavier atmosphere which has just developed.

"I don't like the way rees brought it up, but I will make better potions than the ones that Isa bought. Tonight." Maria huffed slightly as she walked ahead. Clark just shook his head. "Oh, and If I succeed, you have to Isa on your back for a hundred steps."

"Wait, why is he carrying me?" Isa tried to catch up to Maria but she was walking too fast.

"Did you really need to push her like that?" Jerold questioned Reese a little since he wasn't sure that was the best way to push someone forward.

"I saw Isa trying to decide how we would be able to afford buying more from the dwarves since we won't want to give up the ores that Ralph can use. So, it makes sense that having extra potions would help a lot. especially since Clark handed over a decent few different formulas for Maria to study."

"You thought it through I guess. But when she shows you up, make sure that you carry Isa a little more than just a hundred steps. Maria is helping you out a bit there." Clark bumped Reese's shoulder since he appeared to be looking off like he hadn't heard him.

"Why did we even stop to do that? Bunch of pointless drama. I want to fight that thing over there. Can I?" Ralph had become bored and pointed out a beast in the distance.

'Boulder tortoise- rare

These peaceful beasts are called boulder tortoises because they grow as large as boulders. They also have shells that replicate boulders to avoid the beasts that will grab them and fly them in the air to drop them. Their shells have a chance of breaking when that is done to them.

While they are slow and nonviolent most of the time, they also have the ability to shoot earth spikes from their shells if they are threatened while on the ground. This is due to the additional stone they control to form over their natural shells as defenses.

Their shells and their second layer of stone are very tough defenses. Many people do not attempt to fight them and instead wander around looking for already defeated shell parts from these beasts. It is easier to scavenge for them than hunt them.

These beasts will rarely take different forms or grow past being a boulder size and shape. But when they mutate and do, they have been known to become a mountain tortoise which is exceptionally rare, having more than just earth affinity…'

"You can, but it has very tough defenses and no metal what so ever. Its called a boulder tortoise… and he's already heading to fight it. I just had to say it had tough defenses." Clark sighed. He had not realized that Ralph had so much energy. But to be fair, they were back on the ground away from the dangers of the sky on sky battle they could have had. Now he could fight himself.

"Let him have his fun. It will be training for him to fight an opponent he can barely damage." Brad saw the benefits in fighting a large opponent like this. If there was another boulder tortoise here. He would be the next one challenging it, and that wasn't even a joke.

Watching Ralph leap at the boulder tortoise with his ax, no one was surprised when it bounced right off, only leaving a small crack in the top layer of the stone shell. The shell itself probably didn't even feel that.

But the stone on the shell quickly repaired itself as the beast had a powerful earth affinity that it could use to do so. This slowed down Ralph's methods of attack and basically turned the boulder tortoise in to the ideal dummy. One that could shoot rocks at them to defend themselves too.

"I think that will be going on for a while." Grace hummed a little wondering what they should do since they had come to another stop again.

"No, he is about to win. Look, he ahs both axes out now." Clark was sure that they had forgotten that Ralph wielded two axes. He even would use a hammer and ax combination at times now too.

But the du8ble ax strike boosted Ralphs' attack speed, not allowing the broken stone to repair. The moment he hit the real shell, stones shot up all around him. Not a single one hit the target, Ralph slashed them out of the air before cutting in to the tortoise and ending its life. He was always thinking about what a good material the shell would be for a makeshift crafted shield.
