Chapter 715: Smart Training
Chapter 715: Smart Training
"You two look better." Isa was the only one in the front of the cottage they had been led to after Clark and Maria had been finished healing the victims.
"We used a lot of energy to heal some people. I even followed some techniques that I never used before. I would prefer not to have to do it again so let's hope that the blood moon cultists are done with sending brainwashed prisoners here." Clark could still feel the soreness in his muscles.
It was always the things that people did outside their norm. Clark could feel the fine muscles in his fingers and arms that had been stressed to their limits. Forced to be tense for longer than they would ever be tense normally. On top of that, they had been performing controlled and delicate work. That left them much more damaged in terms of training than just fighting with a spear.
"Drink the nutrient potions too. Then a healing potion. You should heal better. The way you walk is still unsteady." Seeing that Isa had this ready proved that she had been thinking well ahead of when the two woke up.
"How about you, what have you been doing?" knowing Isa, she had been working on something as well. She didn't just sit here waiting all morning.
"I managed to get through some of the guards, but I think that's because their orders changed. A few of the elves came to speak with us after you and Maria got back. They wanted to hear about beast plans. They also asked for us to visits them and perform beast evaluations while we are here. I take it you showed off your skills?"
Seeing Clark nod white drinking, Isa became a little smug. "They offered materials and some interesting items as payment. Things that we can't get anywhere else. I think that we will be able to grow a lot more while we are here." Since Isa couldn't focus on profit entirely, she started to change her goal.
The goal to use the materials directly as a way to grow a base of power was better right now. Especially since they had to be able to counter the more powerful monsters within the blood moon cultists. There was a reason that they needed to fight them and a method to doing so. no amount of gold coins would allow them to survive. They needed strength.
"So we should be able to get a lot done today while we get a tour of the city. Jasmine will be coming back to show us since the matriarch knew we already had met her. But I think she was using that as a way to ensure that we keep connected. A future elder on the council and one that owes me."
Before, Clark had thought that having a future elder on his side would be valuable. But now that he had recovered a bit mentally, he grasped another truth. The matriarch knew that if he was connected to Jasmine in a way, that she would have a line on how to get Clark to help them more and more. Especially after their showing with the healers and his beast analysts.
Overall, she was playing her own game. It went both ways. Valuable strengths and valuable knowledge. But that would all depend on how the next few days went. The group was surely going to be fighting a branch of cultists.
The matriarch has already gained the right information about how to find the bases that might be within her territory. That wasn't just the focus right now though. The elves were focusing on the potential of a beast wave. Locusts could cause a lot of trouble for them. They would be the worst case since the planes would be destroyed even more, and then their city would be under the plague.
However, Clark could swear the matriarch was not worried about the city itself. As if they had a way to prevent it from being damaged even more than what Clark or anyone else knew of. But for now, he didn't worry about that. The tour of the city was a little more important.
"Maria already woke up. She and Grace have been outside meditating a little while also trying to practice with archery. Grace is trying to get better than Maria when firing arrows. Not that I think she can beast her. Maria is basically a dual talent. Archery and healing are like breathing for her." Isa laughed a little as she cleaned up some papers she had been working on.
Notes about elven trade she could reference later.
With Isa behind him, Clark found that the two girls outside were calling out a distance and firing arrows. Trying to match the distances of each arrow they fired by judging the power behind the bowstring. It was a good method to train in for the time being since it forced their muscles to better understand the flow of archery at various stages.
But it was Ella who stood out nearby. She was surrounded by her beasts. All of them standing around her and rotating their energy through her and back. It was clear that she had grown a lot more than what everyone would expect. Like her body had finally caught up to the beasts that had outgrown her due to her sole focus on them.
Now, the spirit infant was calming her internal injury with the spiritual energy flowing around it. The blue flame skeleton was countered by the cloud sprite. The earth prince matching the strength of defensive nature with earth. All of this now influenced and enhanced Ella's body rather than making her feel ill or weakening her. It was as it should be.
This also meant that every single one of her beasts could fight together instead of divided as they had before. The earth prince had even begun using more dense earth to create its body better than before. It would allow it more fighting ability rather than controlling the earth below enemies to fight them. It could fight head on.
"Ella, We have a tour to go to. Want to learn about the elves?" Clark knew that he was tossing chum in the water with this. She had been waiting for this for quite some time. The curiosity built up was going to be too much to handle. He was already prepared for a million questions.
"Ralph! Reese! Jerold! Brad! It's time to leave. Have journals ready so that we can record everything that we see!" While it confused Clark seeing that Ella was ordering the others, he soon understood why.
Ralph had some blue flames burning in front of him. The fire energy from the blue flame skeleton was a little more unique because of its undead nature. It would allow Ralph ton grasp mixed flames a little better so he could forge with these sorts of flames one day. For the blue flame skeleton to help him out.
Brad had denser earth restraints on his body.. The earth prince had ensured that his body had more weight. He was training with heavier weights. Reese was also under some influence from the spirit infant. He and his partner had been disrupted. In essence, their bond had been shaken which forced them to focus on their bind and how their spiritual energy allowed them to fight separately.
Then Jerold had been surrounded by mist. The cloud sprite had been obscuring his senses all around him. This made him change how he moved to try and move without disturbing the mist. Without being spotted by Reese who had trained with him. But it also taught Jerold to use the mist to advantage. To see how it moved when another passed through it.
This form of training was valuable to all of them. A very wise decision that helped everyone when they lacked equipment to train with. Clark was very impressed and felt that he had missed out a lot. But that was besides the point.
"We managed to help the prisoners that are most likely brainwashed victims from Lunar and Solar cities. The elves are using their unique spiritual healing to recover their minds properly. The threat of monsters from within the city is temporarily gone. But we are still going to help deal with the branch of the blood moon cultists when they are found."
"For now, we are touring their city as a show of unity before we can establish a proper alliance. We have free travel to learn what is offered but we can't force anything." Clark knew they had to play this carefully. But he also knew that they would be pulled here and there by the elves. There were plenty of chances to learn from one another.
Especially with the fact that the group had already shown off their skills in a way. Maria with her healing and methods above her age. Clark with his beast analysis and unique sight. This left the rest of the group was a mystery that the elves would want to learn from regardless.
