Chapter 700: Just Passing By

Chapter 700: Just Passing By

This was like sightseeing for Clark. Whether it was an odd plant that stood out above the treetops or a beast, he was using the analysis. Since Ella could also see what he was seeing then he was also being forced to explain what he could make out.

The benefits of this were simple, he and she could expand their knowledge. The others were also paying attention to it too. They were able to comprehend some of the uses of these things. While Isa was using this new knowledge for her future plans to make a business out of the violent jungle a little.

Once they had been able to solidify their alliances and get guards to patrol a larger area, then the violent jungle could be a place that was more explored. However, that would come with many rules and regulations to ensure that the jungle was not abused. Nature should remain as nature and not get destroyed after all.

'Grand poison oak- rare

This plant is a massive tee that was once known as poison oak before it mutated and absorbed more energies. Now, it is a massive tree that rivals even the naturally growing oak trees. The potent poison will cause various species to break out in to vicious rashes.

While dangerous, the oil can be boiled and used to treat other illnesses related to swelling of the skin. Therefore, shaymans of small tribes once used it as a magical herbal cure. Nowadays, humans will slowly collect the sap so that they can use it in specific alchemical medicines…'

This was valuable information to Maria who had not realized that this plant was growing within the violent jungle. She just wished they had seen it earlier. That way they could have gone in to the jungle and came out with some. It would have been good for her alchemy training. Especially now that she had the twin spirit moth.

That being said, when she heard Clark point out the coiled serpent grass, she was more interested because it sounded more like the name of a beast than an herb. Yet, the grass was growing on the treetops some how. An oddity.

'Coiled serpent grass- rare

A symbiotic plant that will grow on certain trees. It will let its roots naturally connect and grow in to the smaller wood branches of the tree. That is how it shares nutrients.

Normally, the trees that it bonds with struggle to get enough sunlight to grow. Therefore, the grass shares this necessity and light energy. The reason that it gained the coiled serpent name is because it is covered in an odd scaly bark that replicates the coiling jungle serpent known to live in the treetops as well.

As it is focused on light energy, it is one of the few herbs that grows on the treetops with an entirely light based affinity. This allows it to be used for a variety of purification based alchemical potions. The light energy is very pure and can also be used to nourish light type beasts. That is if they are able to consume it.

Oftentimes, the beasts that consume it also guard it with their lives as their own territory. This causes new beasts that come after it to be attacked right away. It will also cause a lot of drama and often damage the trees, therefore, it will cause the territory to become less desirable. A very odd cycle that also leads to the spreading of the coiled serpent grass…'

While Maria was learning things about alchemy, Isa was also trying to make Clark look at the odd beasts that would pop out of the treetops here and there. While only for a moment, some of them had very colorful feathers or fur.

One in particular had both, an odd beast that none of them had seen. The guide was the only one to smile a little hearing that Clark was starting to explain the details. With so many years of doing this job and growing in to it, their guide from the Nighthawk family naturally knew a lot about the treetops. It was how he could survive and how he could show his strength in this position.

Not that he needed to show off around this group.

'Vibrant feathered monkey- uncommon

Normally hiding during the day due to the very vibrant colors that come from eating various jungle flowers and fruits, the vibrant feathered monkey is a sight to behold. It is also one of the oddest species because it both had feathers to be able to fall slower and glide from tree to tree. This is why it is able to avoid the dangerous predators in the treetops.

While it may never touch the ground, it is not unfamiliar with the dangers that come with being on the ground. One such danger being the coldness during the rainy season that will seep in to the bones. That is why the fur it grows is covered in oils from its body. It allows it to be more than water proof to remain warm.

The materials from its body are both valuable as decorative items. The feathers will be used for various forms of jewelry. The fur can be used for very high quality coats. However, its tail is considered one of the best materials to use for bows. The unique tendons can be made in to a powerful bow string once dried out properly.

This leads to many hunters trying to capture this beast and cut the tails off only. Otherwise, this beast is fairly rare nowadays…'

This information made Isa grimace a little. Using only one part of the body of this beast was foolish. If they were going to hunting, then they should use everything. But that was just the darker side of humanity. People wouldn't care for what was right and what was wrong. They would just do cruel things like this.

"We are just about three quarters of the way. We are going to pass through a dangerous territory. Watch closely for the nest we are going to pass by, you will understand what." The guide made the first loud statement.

"What are we passing that we don't want to get near?" Ralph felt that this question was worth asking.

"It's something that has lived there for the last three years. We know it's there and it tolerates us flying by as long as we do not stop. My family has even fed it a little to ensure that it sees us as a non combatant within its territory. But lately, it has been a little worried because of the eggs in its nest."

"That still didn't answer his question…" Reese wanted to know too. He was unsure what they would be seeing. However, when Brad smacked him and Jerold on their shoulders, the three were drawn to the large nest.

A large number of branches, and even entire tree trunks had been pulled in to a section of the tree tops. They had been built up using what could only be pieces of hardened mud and what appeared to be a dense green fluid. What could be seen inside were three large what and green speckled eggs. But that was just the smallest aspect of what they could see.

'Venom wyvern- ultra rare

With a small amount of dragon blood, this poison wyvern has become a more territorial and powerful version of its species, the venom wyvern. Living within the jungles and consuming only poisonous plants has allowed it to become a powerful beast with its own venom. Extremely dangerous since it can also breathe a spray of acidic venom in to the air.

While its scales might not be as tough, they ooze a small poison that will cause anything that touches them some damage. Its blood is even more toxic due to the poison and venoms within its body. This is a beast that even the strong needed to avoid angering.

During its brooding phase, the mother venom wyvern will spend ten years living near and on its eggs. This allows the natural poison and venomous energies that it produces to nourish them. It also will create a territory that it will hunt in around the nest. If anything comes within, they will be considered food unless terms are met.

Some powerful beasts will leave prey nearby the territory to buy the right to cross through. This is a natural instincts since the venom wyvern is much more powerful than they are if they were to fight. Even the venomous talons could kill them with a single scratch.

If the venom wyvern is willing to allow the beast or being to travel through their territory, it will hiss when they come by. That is a warning to speed up, but also a small acceptance. If they are to growl and roar, then it is an action of aggression. To avoid this, it is best to leave immediately without concern for anything else if the passer by wishes to live…'

"And now I drop a beast body for it to eat so that it will be fed." The guide dropped a large portion of beast meat in to the trees as they passed. The green and prickly venom wyvern hissed in approval as they kept moving with even more speed on the back of the winged horror.
