Chapter 63: Slashing Slimes

"This is the unique skill of the slimes! They can merge in to a powerful giant slime body. Be careful, it will be harder to beat!" Clark started to move using the ghostly steps technique. He had to dodge the smaller wind blades that the giant slime was easily able to throw out.

From what Clark could gather, the giant slime was able to throw out smaller wind blades while preparing a larger wind blade. It was also easy to see that the core was multiple slime cores fused together. This allowed it to control a larger body and gather more elemental energy.

Crim was still in a state of annoyance. He didn't want to be outdone by Devi, nor did he want such a lowly slime to beat him. Crim was a dragon made of slime. He had ascended above the simple and weak slime he could have been. He had pure dragon essence that was part of his soul. He would never lose to an inferior slime.

The menacing roar that Crim gave out attracted the attention of the giant slime. Another large wind blade flew out at Crim which he easily dodged with a jump and flap of wings. Clark saw that Crim had used his instincts to dodge the attack and copy the way a normal hatchling would use its wings to jump higher.

Many hatchlings would be unable to use their wings for anything more than jumping higher for years before they could properly fly. Clark had some doubt that Crim would ever fly because he lacked the proper body and wings that a real dragon hatchling had. But to his surprise, his view was changing.

Since Crim had taken the full focus of the giant slime, Clark had begun to target the small slimes trying to join with the large slime. Devi was also holding back ready to help Clark defend. After being told to take care when using his deathly claws, he had taken it to heart. He could not fall unconscious while Clark and Crim fought a tough opponent.

Crim's constant jumping and dodging was bringing him closer and closer to the giant wind slime. It caused the wind slime to send out more frenzied attacks. However, the random small wind blades were nothing. Crim was still too fast for them to even graze his body. That meant he was easily able to get right next to the giant wind slime which froze finding its opponent right next to it.

"Crimson, finish that enemy!" Clark ordered Crim to defeat his opponent. That was all Crim had in mind as well. He dove inside the wind slime's body and began to chomp down his teeth. In every bite of dragon fangs, Crim swallowed the wind slimes' body and some of its energy. This method was perfect for Crim because he found that he could easily take over the slime body as his one.

The nutrients were not enough for radical improvements, but that didn't matter. This was causing the giant slime to lose mass and fall in to survival mode panic. Wind blades shot out slaying nearby small wind slimes with overwhelming force. Clark and Devi retreated and watched as Crim approached the large core of the giant wind slime.

With a single chomp down, the core shattered revealing a beautiful blue and green mixed crystal.

'Large wind crystal- uncommon

This large wind crystal is perfect for beast tamers trying to add wind elemental energy to their taming space. It is required for some tamers to even open the taming spaces to begin with. It can also be used to forge unique gear in a trusted blacksmith's hands. If fed to a wind slime there is the chance of creating a more powerful giant slime or king slime.'

"King slime?" Clark wasn't sure if a king slime was a legitimate beast. He had seen a few mentions of them in books but nothing real. If they were a beast that could be around here, Clark wondered what they might have within their core. What regards he may obtain from fighting one.

Just as Cark had finished picking up the many wind crystals on the ground, Devi pulled on his clothing to look over. Underneath the grass where the giant slime had appeared, there were stairs. "Good find, you both are doing very well so far. We have a decent amount of wind crystals. If we are going underground, that means earth slimes. Maybe more."

With the victorious energy they possessed, the three did not fear moving down to the second floor of the dungeon. Unfortunately, they were not prepared for the ambush.

Before they were even halfway down the stairs, the sound of dripping alerted Clark that something was not right. It was just in time for a blue slime to fall from the ceiling. It whipped out a tentacle of slime at him. With the full moon slash, Clark spun around cutting the slime tentacle off.

"Water slime! Be ready!" three more of the water slimes fell from the ceiling revealing that it was constantly dripping with water. The water slimes had been absorbing the water to increase their body size. When they saw Crim and Clark, they had targeted them as more food.

What Crim didn't realize what that the water slimes were incredibly fast. They whipped out tentacles at him hitting his body. Yet, he was unharmed. His body had not even been scratched. "So with their speed from the water typing, they became weaker. Especially against Crim's tougher scales."

Upon this sight, Clark became braver and attacked next to Crim. they easily sliced through the unexpected encounter using spear and claws. Devi alerted them every time another was falling from the ceiling. Instead of being ambushed, they were not the ones in charge. It only took them ten minutes to carve themselves a path through the stairs to the next floor.

"Twenty six water crystals. How crazy. If we had been any slower, we would have been beaten." Clark could easily see some of his classmates being taken for a ride after the stairs. It was a weak attack but one that could easily defeat them by surprise.

Rest was not allowed yet though. In front of them was a vast cavern. Small crystals lined the ceiling adding a dim light. A dim light just bright enough to see dark brown slimes consuming the stalactite and stalagmites around the cave.

'Earth slimes- uncommon

The earth slime can use the stone and earth they consume to send sharp spikes at anything they deem as an enemy. They are the slowest of the slime species while also being the physically toughest. They have a weakness to water and are often trapped within the caves where they are born by water slimes that attack them. They will rarely form together to make a giant slime due to their slow speed.'

"Crim, Devi. It's time to work on our strengths. These slimes are tougher than the others." Clark couldn't help but grin widely. He was getting more and more in to this fight. He was finding new strengths while moving at a fast pace. It was enough for him to realize that he might be somewhat of a battle maniac just like Leo Green was.
