Chapter 626: Change With The Wind

Chapter 626: Change With The Wind

'Chain quest (third link)- Dungeon key

Requirement: go to the small field dungeon and use the low class blue dungeon key to enter a different dungeon.

Reward: fourth chain quest link, one ice herb gacha ticket, one wind herb gacha ticket.'

'Chain quest (fourth Link)- Clean up

This dungeon is a remnant from the dwarven lands that was destroyed and damaged. That is why existence removed it and turned it in to a dungeon.

Requirement: defeat all beasts within this dungeon.

Rewards: one ice herb gacha ticket, one wind herb gacha ticket, ten wind crystals, ten alchemy flame crystals.'

Clark's surprise when he saw the quests compete and immediately start another link was enough to make him stop for a second.

"Did you see something else? Another hammer?" Brad was at the ready without a single bit of hesitation.

"No, I was just thinking that this place is a remnant really. We should see how much we can do here. I feel that the beasts here are not real beasts and more just left over from what they used to be. We should clean this place up. Let it rest." Clark looked off in to the small grove of snow covered trees.

It really did feel like that though. He wasn't just using the quest that he had as a reason to do this. The beasts here were broken, fading, or reanimated skeletons. Then the entire place had become ice and snow. A cold as if the time for it was stopping and fading away. Overall, the feeling in the air just seemed to match his words perfectly.

"I get what you are saying. The entire place doesn't even feel like it's part of a forest any more. Even the tees look like they are pretending to be alive." The way that Isa said this was simple. However, she noticed that there was not a single breeze. Nothing that made the trees sway of shimmer with sunlight as any real tree covered in snow and ice would. This was too perfectly still.

"That means I get to decide where we go. Little Drag, take me forward while my guards protect me." Grace's little game had not been what everyone is imagining. Yet, they all felt that it was a good way to start this training exercise.

"You nicknamed my dragon welp? little drag?" there was a clear wonder in Ralph's eyes. It was surety that if anyone else had said this, he would have argued with them. But because it was Grace… Well, that was that.

"He isn't a full dragon but he is a little one. The ice dragon was massive and amazing. So, this is a little dragon that can keep me warm and safe." The response from the dragon welp was a soft huff. Clearly, he was not opposed and that was just how it would be.

"Look at them, they are not moving at all. Are those skeletons frozen there?" Maria was very surprised to see the shorter dwarven skeletons. However, they were standing completely still next to another tree. It was as if they had died standing up, lost their flesh, then become skeletons frozen there for eternity.

"They are just waiting. Undead without intelligence will often just stay in place until something moves. From there, they chase it. Especially if it is a living thing." The fact that Clark knew undead beasts was just common sense since he had Devi and Crim who were technically undead beasts. Not that they were really undead, they focused on other energies much more.

So much so that it could be said that they were barely undead type beats any more.

"Wait, I can hit them from here." Maria notched an arrow trying to fire and hit both. But the moment she took her stance, it seemed that the skeletons had noticed the changes in the energies that the group was bleeding out naturally.

While it was normal that everyone lost some energy here and there, it would always be the case. Perfect concealment was impossible. Certain beasts relied entirely on sensing the smallest changes in energies to be able to hunt. Many undead were like this.

The two dwarven skeletons dashed toward them. It was as if they were drunk, stumbling and barely remaining upright. This forced Maria to change her stance and fire while tracking her targets. The second arrow was fired right away.

Everyone was able to see her adjust her bow and arrow to hit right ahead of where they would be. The two arrows pierce the brittle skulls. The shattering bones were only so dramatic because of their age. It was impossible to tell how many years they had withered away here. Waiting to be properly put to rest.

"They were easy targets. I think it will be better to keep managing beasts from longer range. The tighter we remain around our defensive target, the safer." Maria's opinion was right on the nail. She brought up the better tactic here since they had to remain near to Grace to protect here.

"So I will switch to focusing on boosting your arrows with wind." Isa saw this as a good chance to begin training the wind caterpillar more. "And my perfect crystal golem can walk alongside little drag to make walls if need be." Isa felt that this was the best that she could do. But where her idea had sparked even more ideas, was in Ellas' mind.

"You can help Maria manipulate many more arrows. She can fire them and use the strength of her body to make more damage apparent. Her skill is very good compared to everyone else's skill in archery. But if she fires too high or a target moves, you can make that arrow hit every single time by manipulating the wind. It will be a very good surprise tactic.

A combination move." Since Ella had already started to document this as a new method for the group to fight, no one argued it.

Not that anyone would be arguing it. "Then you should train it too. Hit the hammer up in that tree. Jerold has been looking at it for the last five minutes. He wanted to see how close we can get to it before it noticed uss and atatcks so he could scout the grove ahead of us."

With Grace on the dragon welp's back, she was training herself in her own way. The mental hoops she was jumping through were enough to allow her new views. While it was not going to make her physically stronger, it would make her mind more flexible.

While watching how the group moved, Grace was learning the best places she would be able to jump in to battle. She was learning the group's tendencies that allowed them to work together and develop their own strengths.

"I was doing that, but if you want Isa to test changing the wind with her wind caterpillar, I will let that happen. It makes more sense." Jerold's response held a slight bit of surprise. He didn't expect anyone to notice he had found a target to fight.

"Then let's try it. I will aim for the strap, please try and change the arrow to hit the main hammer section." Maria had an idea that she could easily beat this beast. She had seen how easily Brad had broken them earlier. Therefore, a single arrow with partial strength should beat it.

It was easy for Clark to see that Maria was holding off a lot of her strength. This would slow the arrow but also make sure that it was able to be influenced by the wind much more easily. That way, Isa could see where her strength was when it came to controlling the wind in general.

The wind caterpillar had been on Isa's shoulder, but as she looked at it, the wind caterpillar surprisingly melted in to her body. The slight flow of green energy around her was causing a small breeze that only affected her.

"Oh, I didn't know that you could fuse with it like that so easily. I thought it was still way too young." It was Reese that was the most surprised. He had been inside if Isa would actually be able to do this. Mostly because she had spoken with him about the trouble it was taking ehr to learn how the flow of wind was compared to other elemental energies.

It was a very incomplete form since the wind caterpillar had yet to begin its real growth. It had a lot of potential when it came to growth. Clark could tell that just sharing energies with Isa was greatly influencing it. That was to be expected since she already had three other unique beasts.

Maria released the arrow and it was perfectly on mark to hit the leather strap that the hammer used to hang itself higher in the tree.

This was when Isa waved her hand. A slight change in the wind happened which caused a breeze to form. However, the results were not what everyone expected. They had all imagend an instant success. "I missed…" The arrow hit the leather strap as Isa realized she had sent the wind in the wrong way entirely.
