Chapter 624: Change In Dungeon
Chapter 624: Change In Dungeon
Keeping camp where the group had built it was going to be rough. The jungle was clearly a little unstable with the added chaos of the brutal crocodiles being riled up. This was enough to attract a lot of attention to the area.
Adding in the smoke and heat from a fire, many of the nearby beasts had become curious. This was something that the entire group was aware of and why they had been on alert even more the last few hours. But they could not move yet.
Grace was still too weak to get up and move. She had to take the proper time to calm her mind and body. That was why not a single person rushed her. Everyone was also very careful to read and understand the plan that Clark had shown them to help heal Grace.
Right now, she was the weak link in their group, but it also was a hidden boon for them.
The entire group was used to fighting to defend themselves and each other, but they had never escorted anyone or focused on battling in a way that was centered around protecting a singular target constantly. It allowed them to adjust their battle senses. To grow in a new way.
The fact that they would have to move at a slower pace was also different. Professor Wright had always pushed them to make the most of their travels. They had brought their stamina up by doing so. It was a major reason why they had been able to grow so much. Their bodies were tempered before they had even started the harsher training.
Regardless of this fact, the group had adjusted their minds to move faster and process the surroundings at a sprint. The current situation made them change that processing to one with more details. Looking for more minute details that normally would be overlooked. It would challenge them in the perfect way to boost their overall perception of the world around them.
Clark also took the chance to use these hours to look back at the system.
The turtle breathing skill book was normal looking. A brown and blue book that held pages of information about calming the body to be able to survive while breathing less and less the better the user was at it. It was also able to help resist the urge to breathe when holding ones' breath underneath the water.
When Clark had brought it out, he showed everyone with a little excitement. He also knew that Grace could study it while they were all moving. Ralph had already had the dragon welp committed to carrying Grace. The molten boar would be acting as a secondary bodyguard.
Unlike Clark, the others found it very interesting. He did too, but he was surprised to find that he only glanced through the pages and gained the technique. It appeared to be another massive benefit of the system he had. He knew this would be useful, but he had not imaged how much so.
His mind raced as he considered the benefits within battle. Most people would be out of breath or panting during a harsh battle. But he would be fine since he could train his body based on lack of fresh breath. It would also allow him to function in situations where the air might have poison in it or fire might be burning up the available air. Two situations that he would worry about.
This brought him to the second link of the chain quests he had completed.
'Chain quest (second link) - rapid river
Requirement- escape the river and manage to make it across to the best path out of the violent jungle for training.
Reward- one random gacha ticket.'
'The random gacha ticket is being drawn… the user has received the dungeon key gacha ticket.'
This was a shocking event to say the least. He didn't know that dungeons could be locked!
'Dungeon keys are not locks. They are keys that change the dungeon location using unique skedjaldn dsohruecn klakdhef properties from the akneiis.'
Clark stopped trying to read the response from the system. He knew it was more intelligent by the day but still chose not to reply to him. Yet when it did reply to him, it was stating mixed up letters that made no sense? Even if he couldn't comprehend what these keys were, it felt a little insulting.
'The dungeon key gacha is spinning…'
'Low class blue key- uncommon
This is a low class key that will alter a common dungeon to a new location. The new location can take the form of a variety of different dungeons. Normally, these locations are dungeons that can not naturally be accessed due to their unique spatial existence elsewhere. Therefore, the materials and beasts within are incredibly different from surrounding areas or from other dungeons.
There is even a chance to run in to other races.
This key will cease to exist after being used. All that is needed is for the key to be tossed in to the dungeon first where it will open the space using shendsa skrheeoksnd. ajdfiefnn#...'
Clark sighed again seeing that the analysis left some things at the end that didn't make any sense at all. However, he understood that this was a good thing. The dungeon that they went to next could be more unique than any that they had gone before.
Since it was also an uncommon rarity, he had no doubt that it would be a simple dungeon. Therefore, they could harvest materials and beasts that they should be able to easily defeat. It was also a good chance to be able to practice defending Grace in a safer place than where they currently were.
"Alright, we are going to head to a weaker dungeon. We have to train ourselves to escort Grace. It will be a new way we are training." Clark announced this loud enough for everyone to hear. They were reading through the turtle breathing technique book and had even started to train it a little. They all saw the boon in not needing a lot of air while fighting.
The map was easily the best method to decide on where they were going. The route already had to change based on the situation that they had been put in. especially since the river crossing was awkward to say the least.
Without the map, Clark would not have even been able to decide where they were.
'Chain quest (third link)- Dungeon key
Requirement- go to the small field dungeon and use the low class bleu dungeon key to enter a different dungeon.
Reward- fourth chain quest link, one ice herb gacha ticket, one wind herb gacha ticket.'
The system seemed to be appealing to Clark need for better herbs related to ice and wind energy. It was rewarding him for following the proper course that he had placed in to the journal for Grace to study and proceed. It was also showing that his goals and the system quotes were aligning together to continually strengthen all of the group and not just him.
Without much arguing or worries, the group proceeded to clean up camp and make their moved. The benefits of the small field dungeon was that this was close to them. All of the ten minute walk from the river.
What the group managed to notice during that ten minute walk, was that this was clearly a place that had been part of the river nearby.
The terrain was bumpy and had some holes that had small pools of water within them. It meant that the flooded river would bring water all over this area. There were also marks on the trees where algae and other plants grew during the highest of flooding events.
It was natural that there would be rainy seasons in an area where the mist and water were a major part of the ecosystem. But where the group saw a lot of change was the ground covering. The bushes appeared to be weak rooted. It led Clark to believe that the plants would break away and float in the river. Some plants used this as a method for spreading seeds to different areas.
The dungeon was easy to spot as well. It is pure luck that they had moved before beasts had broken their curiosity and proceeded toward them. The dungeon was a rocky area surrounding a hole. It reminded them of another dungeon that was just a hole as an entrance. However, this one was a staircase that allowed them to have a chance to easily walk down.
"Clark, we are going to follow you in. You said this was a smaller and easier dungeon, right?" Maria voiced her worries. She was one of the only ones that had the voice right now. Everyone else was focused on the new goal of defending one of their group members. It was a lot more weight on their shoulders now.
"It is, but I will go first so that I can make sure nothing is here that will cause trouble. But don't expect the small field dungeon. I think this is different." Clark dropped a hint as he sneakily let the low class blue dungeon key fall in to the dungeon entrance.
