Spirit Taming

Chapter 604: To The Center

Chapter 604: To The Center

Clark tried to focus on the fact that there was a new energy moving between him and Crim, however, he noticed that Crim was still somewhat slow. He had just woken up from a major change. He needed food. Therefore, Clark brought out some of the dried meat and beast parts for him to absorb.

While Crim ate, Clark looked at the system. He could only spend so much time thinking about the unique changes. If he spent too long, he might lose his mind to what he had the potential of now. Especially with the fact that the shifting storms meditation technique already mentioned that storms happened in space. What could a celestial slime dragon do? Grow in to?

But the system was there to distract him and help focus him. He had already seen the rewards appear within the eden's end taming space. His beasts were using them to do what they needed. Especially Shy who had just wrapped the last few shadow crystals in her shadow threads to consume them.

The rare gacha ticket was one of the last things he had to do. The system was already spinning it now that he had thought of it right then and there. "Come on, let's see what rare items I might get." Clark hoped for something good. They still had the journey to the deepest parts of the violent jungle to go, something good could help them all.

'The  rare gacha is spinning…

Ancient elvish translation skill- rare

The ancient elvish language is hard for even the current elven people to understand. While the system may translate and assist with many languages and translations, the ancient languages require specific skills. This skill will make it clear and translatable when used. Any ancient elvish will be able to be read, spoken, and understood when heard…'

This was not at all what skill that Clark had expected. He honestly believed that he would be getting some amazing weapon or armor. He even thought he might get some potion materials or a formula. Yet. Here he was with an ancient elvish translation skill. It was well out of the box by comparison to what he had received in the past.

But the system was not reacting at all when he tried to get it to tell him why something like this would appear. It was smarter but clearly the system was not going to respond. He tried to think of it as positive. He had already had one interaction with elves, but they were modern day elves. Not ancient elves.

This could be useful if he somehow ended up in the elven cities or was somehow brought to the elvish world. Yet, the odds of that were slim to none as he was now. He could barely handle his fellow humans when it came to strength. How would he handle the elves in their own world? They were much stronger than the humans when it came to their home world. The humans were a younger race.

With his mind off topic, Clark decided that the best he could do was leave his tent and take the watch so that everyone else could get some more rest. It would only be fair to them since they were also in the dungeon fighting a dangerous beast. Not to mention, his head was already full of things that would be stopping him from sleeping the rest of the night anyways.

By the time that the sun had begun to make its way in to the horizon, the trees were already seemingly preparing for the rays to land on them. Dew had settled slightly while the mist was just beginning to rise. The rest of the group had already made their way out of tents to clean up and head out.

"You said that it should only be a few hours to what the center of the jungle should be, right?" at this point, Isa was wondering how they had managed to do so much in so little time. For them, it was clear that their time in the dungeon had been longer than they realized. However, they still were not months in to their journey as they had expected.

Things had moved surprisingly smoothly over the last weeks.

"It should be maybe two hours. That's my guess. Especially if we keep pushing through without fighting any larger beasts. But the dungeon in the middle of the jungle is known as the real dangers here. It's why this is a deep wilderness and not an actual safe place. Well, that and the jungle part." Clark realized that the dangers of the jungle were enough to stop most people.

They were not most people at this point.

"Oh, on that note, I haven't seen a single beast track. I feel like we went passed a certain imaginary line where beasts don't like to roam." Jerold had been well healed with Lit and Maria working hard. He had also had natural resistances with his armored chameleon helping. Regardless, he had taken the time to get up early and make a quick patrol of the direction they would be heading in.

"If there aren't any beasts around here that's a bad thing." the entire mood may have been brought down by Ella saying this, but she was right. They all had to accept that.

"There is most likely a powerful beast that lives in the area. Just like that mutated jungle spider that allowed us to have a good camping spot. The same with this dungeon, we were not bothered here even though we managed to break that dungeon by killing the problem within. It will take some time for nature to return here. But that will not be the case at the central dungeon of this jungle."

While some of them wanted to argue that they would not have any issues, they all understood that they had actually been lucky. They had not dealt with many smaller beasts other than a few since they had been wandering through different stronger beast territories. That alone had been risky, but not as risky as they were about to go in to.

"Well, this dungeon should be broken too, just not the same. Like, a dungeon beast should live in the area and spill out in the center of the jungle but not be too different from nature now?" Maria was trying to ensure that they would not be handling an entire beast wave or dungeon break by themselves. She just wanted to hear that out loud to put her mind at ease.

"The odds of a break happening now are slim to none. The beasts have been part of the violent jungle for generations. They are part of nature and most likely will not go anywhere any time soon. But the risk is that we are entering a very well established territory where the beasts may become unhappy with us. Or, there is a reason that they are not visible to us right now.

Regardless, safety will need to come first."

Now this was what made everyone nod before setting off. The beasts were unknown to them for the most part. Clark had not spoken up as of yet to share any additional information. The most he had done was nod along since he knew that there were other risks.

"Since everyone has used a lot of energy, we should be prepared to cover for them. Everyone should also act accordingly." Ella looked at Isa and Grace who had used a lot of energy from specific beasts. The frost finch needed more time to recover than one night and the same for two of Isa's partners.

"I will not have Shy to help us for a little while. But Crim woke up today. Just stay a little from him since he hasn't adjusted to his strength just yet." This was a surprise to everyone. They had not imagined that Clark would also be so different. Not in the way that he was weaker, they all understood he had seemingly endless energy.

But in the fact that Shy, who had helped them a lot the day before was slumbering to grow. Not to mention that Crim was awake!

"Crim, come out and see everyone. They missed you too." Clark watched as Crim stepped back out of the taming space. He had only been there for a little bit since he had decided to stay up with Clark for a little while.

"Oh! He looks different." Ella moved to examine Crim. In his current form, he was definitely larger. He was just about the same size as Ralph's molten boar. But Crim could clearly alter his size while still looking like a dragon.

With Ella focusing on this while they walked, Clark didn't worry about much other than that they would potentially be walking in to a beast's nest. He wanted to see if Crim could handle himself and what Crim might do. Especially since it was clearer that Crim had grown smarter. His actions in listening to everyone congratulate him on getting stronger proving this already.
