Chapter 568: Tempting Rewards
Chapter 568: Tempting Rewards
'Chain quest- survival (third link)- completed
Food, water, safety.
Requirement: hunt a beast that can be used to make preserved food, find water to purify and store, find a place that can be used as a temporary shelter or camp. This must be completed within a single twenty four hour period.
Rewards: 1 survival gotcha ticket, five basic gotcha tickets, book of prints.'
Clark saw the system window pop up as soon as they finished putting their tents up. It was a surety that he would complete it, but he was glad that it had been done now. Especially since he had a feeling he might not complete such a set up when he had lost time to other things.
"Jerold, take this." Clark handed him the book of prints. "I found it and figure you can use it better." Clark watched as Jerold came back over and took the book. It was easy to see that he was confused.
"Over a thousand recorded beast prints!?" the shock was normal. The thick book that sat in his hands was something that many learning any form of tracking would see as spectacular. Some tamers would spend their life to gather records of such things.
To gather over a thousand different beast prints in to a properly recorded and documented book was considered a lofty accomplishment. It would be easy to say that it was something only someone with the greatest dedication to tracking would manage.
"There's no author on this. Where did it come from?"
"Just picked it up and remembered it now. It's probably someone that doesn't want all the fame. A good soul that just wants to help others." Clark made it sound like the book was from a virtuous tamer. But in reality, he had no idea how to say that the system created this and dropped it from nowhere in to his spatial storage.
'The basic gotcha is spinning…
Large spirit crystal…
Small water crystal…
Lightning peach- ultra rare
The lightning peach is from a very unique species of peach tree. It is known to grow in the highest mountains near jungles. It will gather the unique wind, water, and fire energies that come from the sun, sky, and rain.
Eventually, a lightning storm will erupt around it. In this event, the lightning is drawn to the tree causing it to be struck over a thousand times in its lifetime. Therefore, every fruit from it will have a special affinity of fused elemental energies; lightning.
For beasts with these affinities, this is considered an excellent item. While rare, it can allow them to better understand their core affinities, awaken skills, and even boost their growth significantly. The only downside is that it causes a slumbering state.
This slumbering state can last different lengths of time depending on the strength of the beast. For the weaker beasts, it will last for up to a year or more. For a stronger beast, it could be an hour at least. This is a risk that most will not take, but is always worth taking.
It can not be consumed by a tamer. It will cause dangerous energy to rampage through their body due to the unique lightning energy.
Stagnant lily- uncommon
The stagnant lily is a poisonous herb that is somewhat uncommon. It is very useful for beasts that rely on poisonous saliva to hunt. It is only available in the harvest season as many trees begin to let their leaves fall. This is why it is somewhat uncommon. The poison energy within is very useful to beasts that use poison.
Large fire crystal…'
These were some amazing rewards. Clark didn't hesitate to drop the lighting peach in to the taming space where Crim snapped it up with his maw. There was a second where the energies from the lightning peach appeared to run rampant before Crim spit out the lightning peach pit.
Clark stored that away to plant it in another area of the taming space at some point. He knew the eden's end taming space was still very unique. The fields where the healing water could be taken from the moonlight pond was still a great place for his partners to train. But he could sense a new place. A darker place in the edens end taming space.
This wasn't the time for him to look inwardly though. He lacked the time and place to do so. He just knew that another space could open up.
Now, Cirm had fallen in to a more natural round slime form as energies move through his body. He clearly took a smaller size than usual using his skills but Clark could feel Crim's energies easily absorbing the unique fused energy.
It was all too true that Crim had came from the bone marrow of the typhoon dragon. The relationship to storms made the lightning peach a valuable win from the basic gotcha. Such an ultra rare item would have shocked the world if Clark had chosen to keep it and show it off.
"Oh, and take this stagnant lily. Your armored chameleon is getting ready to toughen its skin after shedding. This will help it boost its poison before that growth happens." while Clark walked away, it left Jerold wondering if Clark was some sort of appraisal god for beasts and all items.
He was certain that this was the case since he could sense that his armored chameleon was about to shed its skin naturally.
'The survival gotcha is spinning…
Violent jungle map- unique
This map might be an older map of the violent jungle. However, it is based off the current knowledge of the tamer, Clark Stormewood, and the current standing of the violent jungle. There is no other map that is this accurate.
The difference between them may be smaller or larger depending on the recent history of the violent jungle. Multiple dungeons listed on the map are accurate to a degree while newer dungeons might not be on the map at all. This map will change as the user is traveling. It will gain a rank and lose this ability once the user has left the violent jungle.
This map will take the ranking of whatever the user, Clark stormewood, is able to give it through exploration.'
'Chain quest- survival (fourth Link)
Requirements: travel the violent jungle and discover as much as possible using the unique rank map to record everything. Sub quests will be generated as you do to increase the quality of the final map.
Reward: magic map making skill, one random gotcha ticket, ten of every large basic energy crystal, survival chain quest completion.'
This seemed lame at first. Clark sat in his tent wondering how useful this could be. But when he began to think harder about the details, he could only grin like a fool.
The map changing the more that he explored was already spectacular. That meant that the map would get more accurate the harder he explored and analyzed the violent jungle. It also had the locations that he had read about already. It was a great way to start off when entering the violent jungle.
But furthermore, it was a massive advantage for all future tamers. They could use copies of this map to enter a deep wilderness and explore it much more safely than ever before. Such a map would make waves throughout every single city and every powerful tamer that wanted the chance to get stronger.
Adding in sales of beast descriptions, plans, and other information about the beasts within the jungle, they would make a fortune. Their group could advance in fame and wealth immensely with these things.
But the magic map making skill also attracted Clark's attention. It meant that he would have a magical skill that used his energy to create maps? Or maybe it would be maps made the same way that the violent jungle maps would be made? Regardless, this skill seemed to be very valuable.
What truly made Clark want to gamble was the random gotcha ticket. That was a wide and unknown range of tickets. Skills, basic, survival, weapons, who knew what gotcha ticket it would be. Regardless, it would be useful to learn more about the different gotchas that might exist since he was not told by the system how many there were.
Then the energy crystals would be a nice addition to help keep the group strong as they returned from their training. Their beasts would be able to use the crystals to replenish and bring themselves right to their perfect forms before entering Nova City again.
"Alright, everyone. Tomorrow we make a push for the edge of the violent jungle. We will decide what we do from there." Clark's announcement after stepping outside his tent made everyone start to think. They had to be ready.
The violent jungle had been their goal for the time being. It was a dangerous place that they would use to temper their everything. Once they got there, all bets were off. The group would earth grow or fall.
