Chapter 566: Rush To Hunt
Chapter 566: Rush To Hunt
"So, you sent them with a letter, and that's all? That's it?" Ralph wasn't sure if Clark had something wrong with him. He had watched Clark use them and his own actions to intimidate and push around the three men. Then he had found out one of them would definitely betray the others, shut him up for good, then just sent the two on their way.
"Well, yes. What did you expect? Me to kill two innocent hard working men? They clearly were just like some of us. Down on their luck, left behind to rot by the corrupted power hungry people, then trying to survive. That third guy though…"
"He wanted to use his two friends to get valuable things then get a better position in the same people that beat him down." Maria chimed in with a disgusted tone. The way that she saw it, the third man was scum just like the corrupted people that created untold pain.
"Exactly, he started to admit the truth before I killed him. I don't know what else he would have said, but those two brothers cared about him. It's better they didn't hear any more. He might have started telling me to kill them and spare him. Instead, we gave them a chance." Clark felt that he couldn't have done much else in this situation. It was a hard gray area to stand in.
"Now Alexander might be able to get a little more hold on what might be going on. He might be old, but he is one of the strongest within Nova. Add in the Mane family, and they should be very ready for when we get back. That should also help Professor Wright when she gets back. I have a feeling she needed more rest than what she showed us."
These were just a few of the thoughts that Clark had. There were plenty of other things that they might need to be told or that they could worry about. However, that was just the issue that they faced. They would be in the wilderness alone. If they were missing something that they needed, then too bad. They just had to make do.
"So, what did you say?" Reese was a bit more curious than before. Since Brad was also looking at Clark with a raised eyebrow, they all knew that the question was one that any of them would have asked.
"I told Clara that we should go training at the usual spot. That we would meet there after we handled the usual measuring. When I trained with the Mane family, Clara told me that once a year, all warriors in their family went through tests. That means here too. It happens in a particular training field just outside the city."
"I mostly trained in a private place, but when she tested me, I had to go there with her. Therefore, they will know we are coming on a set day and waiting for us. That's when we would make a safe return. Then I also said that my mentor should be notified too. There are a few other phrases and stuff that Clara or Alexander have heard me say, not that it's important. Just proves it is us."
While everyone wondered how this would go, their minds started to turn even more. These things were all proof that they planned to return on a specific day. Therefore, their allies could be gathered and ready to push in to Nova and handle anything they needed to handle. It also allowed for them to have the back up for when they entered a dangerous place.
Furthermore, it meant that they could be briefed onn what new things had happened. "I know we aren't the most important people…so why would they wait for us?" Jerold wondered why so many people would wait for just their group to get stronger and return. It didn't make much sense to him.
"What if something happens and they can't make it here? We literally saw two whole cities get destroyed." Grace was more worried about Nova City even existing anymore. This was her home they were talking about now. Corruption or not, she still wanted it to exist.
"That is an issue we might have to face. Any day the blood moon cult could cause problems. But I have some theories about that." Ella's studious attitude took over as she held up her hands like any teacher when they spoke to a class.
"Firstly, there has not been any attempts to cause issues that we know of near or around Star and Nova Cities. We do not know about celestial sea academy, but we know for sure that Terra City has some issues that caused a lock down. The flooding."
"Secondly, we know that the powerful families in both Star and Nova Cities cause problems for other cities. Star city was able to stamp put a lot of those problems, but it is widely known that they are still struggling to handle their crime rates and other issues."
"Thirdly, corruption is our enemy. Do we think that the same people willing to cause problems for the weaker people and extort them, would not desire tpo work with those that act the same? The blood moon cult may be insane, but their is power in that insanity. The can control monsters."
Thoughts of monstrous tamers losing their abilities to function like a normal human hit the group hard. None of them had considered this properly. The corrupted families might be working with the blood moon cult so that they could control monsters for their own bidding.
"Therefore, we are left with the understanding that we may return to absolutely nothing. No allies, no homes, and no way to make it all return to the peaceful and positive place we wish to make our homes. Regardless, that is the worst case. Many other factors are in play."
"And just like Ella said, those factors will change the outcome. We went out and met the other strong tamers at our age that already stand above their normal positions. They are like us and will get stronger too. They will fight with us and already plan on sharing the same goals." Isas made her own more positive addition that smoothed out the slightly more negative logical since from Ella.
it balanced things more to put them all in a better mind set.
"We will need to be much stronger then…" Brad felt that he was still weaker than he should be. There were so many people he couldn't even fathom fighting. Even going against Purple, he knew that he was too weak. That was just someone considered a genius that Clark could easily beat. How could he stand taller and say he would fight the Mourne family alongside the Mane family and their allies?
"I agree, we need to be very strong." Reese felt his spirit steel sword quiver. It was the shared bind between them and their desires to get stronger. Neither wanted to be pushed around any more than they already had. True freedom came from the strength they had to not be beaten down.
"We are getting stronger. I already told you, we are going toward a dungeon in the violent jungle. Dungeons that no one else is able to touch. Places that only we can train against. I already told all of you that I have a way to see more than meets the eye. I will use that to make us all stronger." Clark took the lead and pushed ahead of everyone.
Their walk was finally leaving this outskirt of Nova City patrol areas and even the forest. It was evident in the growth around them. Larger leaves, taller trees, and more vines. Many more vines.
The only issue was that this was just about the time when Clark had to start considering camp. With the added bonus that he had wasted time on the three men, he also knew that he would struggle to capture food for them.
"Two more hours. We will find a beast to hunt and also find a place to camp." This was the best he could do. He just accepted that he might be losing this chain quest with all the rewards that came with it.
"Why don't we just go after another one of the beast tracks we saw before?" Jerold spoke up just at the right time. He pointed at the few prints that the other three men had been after. Just because they were gone and going to a new job, didn't mean that there wasn't still prey to be found.
"Good. That's exactly what we will do. We can hunt for something that they were tracking. Jerold, take the lead." Clark felt that this was the right move. Jerold had the only formal training in tracking out of all of their group. Even if he wanted to track, it would be much sloppier than anyone else since Clark was more specialized in battle.
However, this was a good chance to help train a little more of the shadow energy that Shy provided him.
