Chapter 509: Powerful Words
Chapter 509: Powerful Words
Seeing that the group of younger guards had just made a patrol around, Clark and the rest did not even spot a single monster. They spotted a few signs of magma eels here and there but nothing that was enough to make them worry. Especially since Crim had taken the lead releasing dragon energies here and there to deter anything he sensed.
'I was sure that your beast would begin to act more and more like a normal dragoon. It is acting just as any young dragon would when it desires to claim territory. However, the territory it has claimed is the space around you as you move." Professor Wright had not expected this. She had met dragon type tamers before and this was something the dragon type beasts always did.
"It is a very interesting change to the usual but also the same in a way. I recorded the first signs when Clark walked through the last dungeon with Crim in the armor form. The armor grew slightly proving that Crim had grown more than we realized. The condensed form of armor gave off a slight energy that made all of us feel slightly uncomfortable. This is the same feeling I recorded."
With Ella backing up what Professor Wright said, the two had a moment of intellectual bonding. Professor Wright was always impressed with Ella's genius. She was just too good at spotting important details and recording them. It made many things easier to grasp when it came to wondering just what had happened to cause a certain event.
"I doubt that Crim is trying to make anyone uncomfortable. But since he can act as armor and change his form since he is a slime, I think he acts like a guardian to protect us. Devi is the silent attacker while Shy is still growing in to her own position. You three make a great team." all three of Clark's beasts reacted to the praise. They liked to be recognized for their growth.
"How long do you think it will be until Shy can start taking beasts over and controlling them? I know she did it to a glacial spider but you said that used all her energy last time." Grace's curiosity had finally caught up to her. She had the frost finch that wielded ice and wind energies. That was enough for her, but she was always wondering what the shadow energy that Shy used was all about.
It was mysterious.
"I think she could do it now. Nothing too large like that crag salamander, but the eels are simple. I would say she could control five of those small beasts." This was surprising for everyone to hear. They had not expected that Shy had grown that much without anyone noticing. Especially since she still looked exactly the same.
"You don't need to look so surprised. Shy is a beast that would hide in plain sight. A beast that would not show off its strength unless it was forced. It's natural that Shy could look the same while getting stronger. I bet she will change a bit when she grows more though. She has a growth plan after all."
"What!? You have a growth plan and hid it from me!?" Ella's sudden anger was very clear. She never imagined that Clark was hiding a growth plan of one of his beasts. She had seen what he planned for Crim since he was a slime dragon with multiple elemental potentials due to his origins and current form that technically gave him the undead type energies too.
Then Devi was just a massive mystery due to the unique ghostly and earth energies. That had been a hard documentation for Ella.
"Clark doesn't need to tell you everything. Look at Reese lately. Clark and him have a plan for the abyssal sword, well, the spirit steel sword that grew differently from what you recorded. You could accept that. Why not Clark's plans for Shy?" Maria was the voice of reason that instantly calmed down Ella who rarely acted so loudly.
"I just want to record it all for history. We are writing history…" Ella's softer voice held a little sadness. For her, they were pioneering the future. Beats plans that had never existed. Ideas that no one else had or could possibly pull of. For her to be left out of it, was the same as saying that she didn't have a part in the future.
"I promise that I am still figuring it all out. Between the three, all of my beasts are unique and mysterious. We know that I don't hide everything on purpose. But some things are just harder to make sense of. It's better to let you do your own thing instead of confusing you and everyone else." Clark tried to smooth things over a little to avoid any other drama.
But he still received a frustrated glare for Ella.
"It's not like we would even sell a beast plan for Shy, Crim, or Devi. There are no other beasts like them. None of us had ever seen a slime dragon which is considered super rare in the first place. Let alone a beast we thought to be extinct and a beast we thought to not exist at all." Isa's basis was in selling plans. Beast plans were the group's business focus after all.
"By the way, any way we can sell information on the eels and the crag salamander? Or was it not worth looking in to?" isa looked slightly greedy as she asked this. She was clearly waiting to hear about some amazing secret growth potential to use when they got to Solar academy city. There she could make them pay higher prices since they wanted to get stronger to be able to fight lunar academy city.
"Nothing worthwhile. It's a split off path that limits its growth. The eels and the salamander. Both aren't worth looking in to." Clark sighed a little since he felt that Isa was going to keep pushing regardless.
"Can you all just hold off for a while? We have some more guards ahead and we came much closer to the city." Ralph's annoyed tone made them all dart their eyes at him before they agreed and followed his gaze to the guards approaching.
Clearly, these guards were older and moving through the path to check the younger guards' work. It was normal for groups of guards to do this to help each other grow. It was normal for every single city, but for Solar and Lunar, it was most likely more important.
"State your business and your names." One of the guards shouted and prepared to draw a sword. But when he saw the Nova crest on Professor Wrights' robes he relaxed.
"Here for a visit to educate my students. It may not be the normal season but coming here is very valuable to some of their fire elemental beasts. Naturally we plan to stay for some time and may even visit the main academy." Professor Wright spoke with an air of authority. One that told everyone that there would not be a single argument made against her.
"That is acceptable. Nova professor, please present all identification at the third stone gate. So not stray to the left path or you will face the shifting of the lava fields. The right path will bring you to the guards and you will need to return the way you came." with this, the guards returned to marching and left.
"It's always good to learn to channel a bit of energy in to your words. Clark will have an easier time with this, but everyone will be learning this while here. In Solar academy, this is a basic lesson to show strength and give commands." Professor Wright walked calmly ahead of the group while everyone grasped the unique way she had pushed them ahead.
As Clark thought about it, he had seen this before. Especially during the tournament. But he had not paid much attention. Putting energy in to words was not an attack and did not strengthen him. But knowing that it could deter those weaker than him in certain places made a better explanation of why it would be useful.
The others were of the same mindset. Especially if the students around would also be using this technique. It was not of use in battle but great use when deterring fools. Isa made a very strong mental note that she would be able to use this sort of skill to make her deals flow smoothly. Even she knew that this sort of skills as useful, but only against merchants she disliked immensely.
"I don't think I will use it in the same way." Jerold whispered to himself. He had seen another potential.
"You too?" Brad had also thought the same thing but had been silently thinking while walking. Upon noticing that Brad had drifted off in to one of his mental hyper focused trances, Jerold took the role of making sure he wouldn't wander off. It was a little important to make sure that they both kept up the rear in case any beasts came following them.
