Chapter 477: Another Ally
Chapter 477: Another Ally
As Clark and Maria walked toward the three sitting and relaxing, they seemed to all look up as if they were already talking about the two guests appearing. "This is my family, My grandfather, younger sister, and mother. These are two of my opponents from the tournament.
We saw eye to eye when it came to beasts and competition." Purple was not much for details, but that was just the feeling that Clark had received from him overall.
"I am Clark and this is Maria. We have others in our group but they are running around the market so that we can prepare for an auction tonight. I thought since Purple invited us, that I should make sure I spend some time challenging him a little more." Clark joked a little as Maria gave a polite smile.
"Well, thank you for becoming friends with my son. He's always locked himself away with his beast to train. The two of them don't believe it, but they are very antisocial. It's sad to see your child ignoring potential friends all the time." While the attitude seemed a little jovial, Purple's mother appeared to be using that to hint to her son that he shouldn't try and rush away to train again.
"Mom, you know that he can't stay the best for all four years if he doesn't train." The younger girl that responded was still at least a year younger than Purple, but she looked fairly mature. It was the way she acted that betrayed her being older than Purple if anyone were to ask. Not that it was an easy feat since Purple was clearly more muscular than someone his age would be due to his beast.
"With a grandfather to live up to, I can see how he would want to train a lot. I was looking at the walls. It's a pretty interesting way to show off the family achievements. I'm sure it works well though since Terra is very full of those with earth type beasts." Clark made the general comment but saw the grandfather nod slightly.
Compared to Purple's mother who had a fairly mature figure and wore a nice dress with white beading to counter the mat brown color, the daughter had striking green eyes and brown hair. Then Purple's grandfather was not at all what someone would think of as a grandfather. He might have looked less muscular than the stone wall images, but he still held a powerful figure.
Many people would think he was just a slightly older adult if it wasn't for the black hair that had long changed to white.
"It's a little more than that. Now I need to beat you when i am able to…" Purple had gained another goal when Clark had managed to defeat him in the tournament. He had spent the rest of his time going over the battle in his mind and had no idea that someone else would be able to counter him in the ways that he had been beaten.
It was just harder to grasp since he was certain that everyone he trained against from Terra had used all their strength. But someone had appeared out of nowhere in the tournament to beat him.
"Wait, don't let him take you away to train too quickly. You have to see a little more of the mansion. Then you can do whatever you want.
And, you should know that our family has tickets to every single auction that happens because we are friends with the owners of the hall." The bragging attitude made it seem that Purple's sister was intentionally trying to show off, but from what Maria and Clark could tell, she just wanted to say that they would see them again later.
"So we will be able to try and steal away something from you. Should be fine." Maria touted Purple's sister a little but it was all in joking again. It brought a little smile to the little sister's face as Purple wondered just what was happening.
"On another note, at the auction you should sit with us. Vice headmaster Gold is bringing Isa and I. so only two of us can go. If I keep an eye out, I might be able to find something that your purple spirit beast can use. We have found a few good things since we arrived here. Pebble mushrooms and a jade moth leg being two good ones for potion materials.
Training potions that is."
The way that Clark put it, Purple was naturally drawn in. He knew what pebble mushrooms were. It was a material that many who trained harshley knew about within terra city. Especially those within the academy. Since physical might was a focus, any material that helped strengthen the body was valuable. But a potion made from the jade mot leg was a mystery to Purple.
"What about the long grain moss, it mimics the growth of wheat but it is actually moth growing on small calcium deposits that make it appear to be wheat stalks. It is very useful to encourage general bone strength. It can even be used to create a bone mending healing potion." Maria lost all focus on her joking the instant that alchemy was brought up.
Clark also wondered what Purple was getting a here.
"Are you saying that you have these materials, or are looking for them?" Clark saw Purple nod slightly. "Then we can make sure we get the best ones from the auction. I will try and fight you for some too. And the Jade moth leg is used to strengthen the body in a potion. If Isa gets an extra potion I will pass it your way." This was what Purple had tried to ask without asking.
Clark kind of caught on and just went with it.
"I will show you around." Purple started to walk away leaving the three family members behind. It seemed that they weren't as attached to the conversation as Maria or Clark believed they would be. "I apologize for that. My family is very emotional sometimes."
"Very emotional? That was emotional? They seemed nice. I hope we see all of them at the auction. Especially since I will be finding a way to sneak in now." Maria pretended to be more rebellious. Especially now that she had a reason to go to the auction.
Not that she had any proof she could get in alone.
"You can just come with my family. We have an entire section reserved. I received many rewards for being the top first year student. The auction house gave me a section that I get to keep for a year. Then the next first year top student will get it. It's their way to support my growth.
I have not used it much since I have relied on my body for training."
Knowing that Purple and his beast were in essence, one being, the two definitely didn't need much to nourish them. They had to train physically and that alone would bring massive benefits. "I don't mean to brag, but I am sure I can find something that will help you there. I rarely miss any details. It's also why i was able to fight against you more easily."
With a little bit of temptation thrown to the wind, Clark glanced at Purple who was now wondering about Clark's skills. "On another note, what do you think about supporting us a little? Nova City is not as good as Terra City. Here there is a lot less messy politics. I'm going to return to Nova in roughly a year or a few months.
We will make some moves to clean things up and could use another family name behind us." Clark sounded like he was just inviting Purple to be closer friends rather than to help overthrow a powerful family.
"If it is just to clean things, then why would you need me?" Purple realized that it wasn't just a name. That Clark was asking because he had some form of trust in Purple.
"You aren't all caught up in politics. You can help show a few people that they can focus on hard work to get stronger. I might work hard, but you and your beast represent a different way to get stronger that separates my unique methods. I think that the relationship between Terra and Nova needs an example like yours to smooth things out. Basically, make it very open that you and I are friends.
I won't ask you to show up and fight if you don't want to."
There was barely a pause before Purple replied. "I can come. You visited me, and we can visit you. I will bring a few good opponents. In eleven months we will come to show you where we stand." Purple sounded like he was accepting a challenge instead of accepting to stand beside Clark's ideals.
"Nothing too complicated then. So, I doubt you want to show us anything but the training area in the back of your mansion, right? I noticed that most have a very developed training area. It should be pretty interesting since you can easily lift more than use." Clark saw a slight smirk on Purple's face. It seemed that this was exactly what Purple had been thinking.
"And here you would wonder why we think boys are weird. They agree to things so easily without even getting all the details." Maria was a little stunned that Purple had just agreed to help outright. There was way more going on than Purple knew. However, the two boys were already headed toward the training area. It appeared that they hadn't even heard Maria.
