Spirit Taming

Chapter 468: Ideal Addition

Chapter 468: Ideal Addition

"Ella, you were right by a mile. These books and that journal are amazing. I wish we could look at more journals, but a beast only let us take the one." Isa wanted as much knowledge as possible. Unfortunately, they had run in to a beast that was keeping watch over Professor Gloria's notebooks.

" I said it before, that's a bookkeeper worm. Don't try and take whatever it is guarding. They only show up in ruins that have libraries. They are very rare and are stronger than you think." Maria knew exactly what kind of beast it was, but Clark had done his analysis nonetheless.

'Bookkeeper worm- ultra rare

The ultra rare tier this beast has is for good reason. Other than the fact that it has an extremely long lifespan, it is also not a worm at all. It is actually a snake that takes on the appearance of a worm. Its spiritual and plant typing allows it to best upkeep and move around books in a library.

However, it does not have the same skills as one might think of its typing. Instead, it has many related skills to any librarian. They will use these skills to build, maintain, and even catalog a library. Their greatest dreams are to remain surrounded by books for their entire lifespan.

Due to their skills, they will get stronger the longer they maintain a library and will stay with one even after those that provide for it have passed. This is one of the few beasts that can live on without a tamer if their tamer is killed or perishes. These beasts will spiritually link themselves to a specific book.

They are often found in ruins of large civilizations or as a librarian in the most popular libraries. Sometimes they will find places with dense knowledge such as a researcher's home. Many other places have held their interest due to unique knowledge recorded, such as caves, training grounds, and even the forest of poems…'

The strength that the bookkeeper worm had was much higher than it appeared. This one was still young in respect to how old it could be. The fact that there was not a lifespan defined made Clark believe that it wasn't dependent on the best but the books they kept. That would make the most sense since its strength appeared to be based on the quality and size of a library it kept.

"All things aside, the books we can read freely about alchemy and beasts that help with herbs and alchemy are too many. This entire river stone building is filled with them." Clark found himself very amazed that he was able to walk in to a wonderland like this.

For anyone that wanted a fantasy house in a mystical garden, this was it. Bookshelves build in to stone walls and every crevice possible while the outside was a mystical garden of herbs and mushrooms. It fit the picture of many things from his past life. But also of many children's fairy tales from this life.

"I agree, it's a pretty nice place. I already found a book that documents the best selling herbs of the last ten years based on the fluctuations…" Clark wanted to keep listening to Isa but he found that his mind had started to melt when she went in to the rates and changes in herb prices. Especially since she also referenced the illnesses that grew to plague people years and years ago.

While this information held a lot of value, Clark just didn't know how he would be able to wrap his mind over all of it the way that Isa did. It was just the simple loss of education when it came to mercantile topics. Isa had learned about it all since she was born. For her, it was second nature. For Clark, it was a mystery he didn't want to invest in right now.

"Ella, can you lend me more blank notebooks? I have to write down the medicinal uses of the mushrooms we already saw and copy some of these. I doubt we can just buy copies everywhere.'' Maria was already on a mission. She was moving through books and finding things she felt she had to know. It would be a good building step for her to become an alchemist when she found a beast to support her.

The comical sight was that Lit and the midnight eel were helping her drag books from shelves and look at them. She was slowly growing a large fort of books. "You can take…whatever…I will…" Ella's focus faded as she read through the research journal in her hands.

From what Clark could see over her shoulder, it was a journal of Professor Gloria's time in a dungeon called the endless forest. A large dungeon with many weak beasts. But it was more well known as a dungeon with many different unknown varieties of herbs. This made it a researcher's paradise if they could safely maneuver.

The reasons Ella was so absorbed and why the journal was extremely useful were simple. The journal had the best possible method for recording and keeping track of new discoveries. Ella was learning easily to adjust her own journals. At this very moment, she was even wracking her mind with the fact that she would have to rewrite all of her journals at a better quality than before.

Especially the ones they sold as beast plans.

With the three girls distracted, Clark began his own wanderings through the river stone library. He wanted to find something to help the entire group get stronger. The pebble mushrooms were already great, but he had a feeling that he could mix more things. Find better herbs to help them grow at a more rapid pace. The only question was, whether or not he could find those herbs or find those methods.

Since the shelves were so well cataloged, he was able to walk up a small set of stairs following the plaques on each shelf. Terms like, pests that eat herbs, mushroom farming, the records of dark mushroom farming, and even a few sections related to mushroom poisons were easily avoided. He was looking for something a little more specialized.

When Clark saw the plaque that said, meditation in motion, he stopped in his tracks. "This is what I need!" his little outburst made Shy who was sleeping on his shoulder perk up. She was curious where they were and what was going on. She had insisted that she was out and about instead of being in the taming space where Devi and Crim were resting to store more of the energies within the space.

"I just found something good. These books are about strengthening the body and mind together. I knew that there had to be records of someone else meditating while moving, but there are so many books about attempts and unique martial arts styles that use it." Shy just tilted her head slightly. She had been on his shoulder rating in her doll disguise.

But since nobody was around, she was showing her true appearance with a very confused attitude.

"This book is about spirit movements?" Clark looked at the first few chapters and realized it was a style of meditation and movement that helped someone learn to move while letting their inner energies flow through the body. While the idea seemed simple, it was actually very hard.

This was similar to what Clark had managed to replicate on a small level, however, he couldn't use this book because his style was a fighting style. If he switched, he would be starting from the very beginning. "Attempts to punch with your soul, the process of water flow movement, bonding with yourself and beast, and what's this about internal energy?

All of these books seem like partial attempts or failures" These all seemed useless to Clark.

A soft tap on his shoulder made Clark change the way he was looking. Shy had looked as well and spotted one that might be good. "You already figured out how to read? You are doing great." Clark gave Shy a little pat on the head.

Most beasts would figure out how to read and understand language through the bond with their tamer, but since Shy was the youngest of his beasts, Clark thought it would take her longer.

"This is… flow of bond energies. This seems much better!" Clark opened the book that shy had spotted and was instantly immersed.

The chapters started with the basics of mediation and how the bonds provided a flow of energy. But it also went in to the flow of energy that naturally existed and influenced the tamer's body at all times. Even when in movement. It was all built around the idea that there was a subconscious meditation causing this flow of energy at all times.

If someone could activate it properly, then they could be constantly meditating and allowing their body to take full advantage of the shared energies from their partners. An ideal addition to what Clark was building!
