Spirit Taming

Chapter 44: Without Mercy

Chapter 44: Without Mercy

Before Clark reached Allen, Devi managed to get to him first. He saw the young ember lion stalking toward Maria. Lit was floating in the air between them attempting to make itself larger. The tactic would scare timid beasts, but not a prideful lion.

If it had been anyone else raising the ember lion, especially Someone from the Mane family, then it would be much more reserved and wise. Many tamers knew that controlling the negative characteristics of their beasts was key. A lion had pride which needed to be held back for the best growth potential.

Unfortunately, Allen had allowed the young ember lion to grow in to a prideful sin. It didn't care for anything except the easy kill in front of it. Allen's laughter spurred it on before a sharp chilling pain came to reverberate through its neck and shoulder.

Devi's laughter started to echo. The chilling bite and twisted laughter caused the ember lion to begin to panic. An invisible energy was riddling it with bite marks that caused its soul to quiver in fear.

"What are you doing!? Kill that welp now!" Allen ignored the bite marks he saw. He believed they were nothing to his beast which should be more powerful than any other. The materials used to feed the ember lion should have made it so.

Slowly the numbing pain transferred through the connection of soul between Allen and his ember lion. The realization that his lion was cowering in fear hit him while he could only take matters in to his own hands.

"Whatever is happening has to be because of that goblin bite. Fine, I'll do this myself." Allen walked toward where he had just seen Maria and Lit duck to hide. She had spotted a chance and thought she might escape.

"Good, you're alone. Devil, show yourself to our prey. He's already losing his little cat. You might as well show him who's feasting on its soul." The cold and mocking tone of Clark's voice made Devi's echoing laughter even more gruesome.

"I follow my partner all the way here just to see you in a delusional state yelling at the trees. How hysterical. Dog of the Mourne family. Pathetic." Devi landed and showed himself on Clark's shoulder while still laughing.

"Isn't dying while listening to the sweet giggles of my little Devil the kindest gift? Or can you not feel it? Your soul was fed upon and so was your spirit beasts. You are going to pass out any moment. Then I will finish it. Leaving your body as goblin food.

I need to help the academy wilds grow. I'm a good student."

Slow steps brought Clark right in front of the now trembling Allen. "Screw you. I am stronger. Come and get hi-" Allen noticed that his ember lion had collapsed on the ground too weak to move as blood still dropped on to the dried grasses.

"I'll crush you!" Allen tried his best to pull a sword from his spatial ring. Although, Clark was faster. He had already started to move. Already pulled a single black needle from his spatial ring. Already thrown it will full force.

Naturally, the trained throw that Clark had developed proved successful. He had not moved the same way over and over for no reason.

He was strict to engrave the throwing movement in to his muscles. That way when he threw he was more accurate and could deal massive damage.

Feeling his rage ignite, Clark threw the same needle at Allen over and over. The constant throws and magical reappearance due to the runes on the black throwing needle led to a vicious attack pattern that hit many pressure points.

Clark did not let up until he saw Allen's breathing begin to fail. So many vital points had been pierced that Allen was losing blood at a rapid pace. There was nothing for Clark to feel. He knew that he was erasing a cruel and evil person.

"You've used your small power to manipulate and abuse others. Just because you work for that trash the Mourne family. People like you are leeching away all that is good in our city. People like you steal families from each other. This is justice for all those you've harmed." Clark knew that Allen was watching his life flash before his eyes.

"Wait in hell for the Mourne family to follow. I will send them all. Especially their son. The worthless bastard that killed my parents." Clark kicked Allen over and went over to the ember lion.

"I'm sorry you ended up with this person as your tamer. You deserved better guidance and it is not your fault. Please rest." Clark used the black throwing needle to pierce the neck of the ember lion. He did not wish to see it suffer any longer.

Clark could see the scratches and scars on The young ember lion. It had clearly been abused to force it to grow stronger. No spirit tamer should force strength on their beasts. It led to a short life and pain. A spirit beast should get the best from their tamer. Their family.

"Devi, if you want their spiritual energy go ahead. You need it to grow. Then we will find Crim, Ralph, and Maria. Allen's lackeys should have lost to the goblins after Ralph joined the fight."

One thing that Clark felt certain of was that Ralph would not hold back. There was a strange sense of determination and solidarity that Clark sensed within Ralph. It may have been the poor past they both came from or just Ralph's personality. But Clark did not imagine Ralph left the lackeys to survive.

Maria watched as Devi bit the bodies drawing out spiritual energy. She also watched as Clark pulled a small shovel from his spatial ring to dig a shallow grave for the ember lion. She heard his words and shivered at them. However, she saw his actions and felt herself warm slightly. This was all too complicated. She wasn't sure what to say or do about it all.

After some time, Clark had left and moved toward the spot he said that they would backtrack and meet at. Maria held back walking there as well.

"Tell your weird dragon thing to stop trying to lick my arm." Ralph immediately yelled at Clark. What Clark found was Crim attempting to like the cut arm of Ralph.

"He just wants to help you clean and heal it. But if you are worried about that, wait for Maria to catch up. She should be- oh she's here." Clark turned around to see Maria following behind him. He wondered when she had gotten there or where she had gone.

"Yeah yeah, just tell me the plan now that we don't have a map or people to guard us? We got rid of the rotten apples but now we are alone." Ralph had realized that Clark had baited him in to a worse situation.

" We are fine. That rich loser had his spatial ring without any security. As soon as he was dealt with his identity was lost. It's ownerless now with his Cain family crest. I already took the map and a few things from it. You can have the rest with Maria." Clark watched Lit start to heal Ralph while Maria maintained her distance.

He wasn't sure what was going on but thought it just her being shaken from the experience they had.
