Chapter 426: Caught up
Chapter 426: Caught up
It took a few minutes for Clark to even consider using the analysis on the butterfly net. It was the simple fact that he felt he had just been scammed. From the differences in the gotcha tickets always seeming to be changing, he thought this would be some amazing new section. Instead, he had just gotten a kids toy!
Forget the fact that the other items had all been incredibly useful. He had healing water that would help his body naturally recover from training. He had small energy crystals that were useful for his beasts of even taming space. Even the weaker crystals had use. But a butterfly net?
'Butterfly net- rare
This is a butterfly net made to specifically capture all forms of butterfly beasts of small size. It is able to capture any energy affinity butterfly beast and even some moths. Due to this, it is reinforced with many different resistances, especially to flames and lightning.
The small butterflies captured within this net will also have their skills sealed due to the runs on the net. The runes can not be translated and transferred on to another item. The secondary benefit is that the runes will use the natural energy in the air to fuel themselves. There is no need for any personal energy.
This net can not resist the strongest small butterflies. They can break it if they have reached certain levels of strength. It would still give them a struggle though. It is an overall very useful specific item that may have use temporarily capturing other small beasts but it is not recommended.'
While Clark finally got over his annoyance and took a closer look at the analysis, he began to understand. This wasn't some simple butterfly net. He had let his emotions run away with his assumptions. Now he could see that the net was made specifically to capture a specific beast. But what he focused on was that this could capture other small beasts to a degree.
Whether they would need it or not didn't matter. There was the chance that he would be able to use it on the youngest of the glow sting jellyfish that they would see in the dungeons that the white robed healers occupied. This wasn't the only potential for the butterfly net but it was where Clark's mind went first.
The real question was, would he need to use it at all? He might not need to catch them at all since they were mostly after the materials needed to help Maria grow her princess jellyfish in to a queen jellyfish. That had been the goal the entire time other than now helping Ella's older brother get his arm fully healed and even regrown.
"Why are you so quiet?" Maria noticed that Clark was sitting and just staring off in to the distance instead of getting some rest or eating anything. She was sure that he was figuring out something important.
"I was just wondering what we might find at the glow sting dungeons. Whether we find the right materials for you or we just find more jellyfish. It could be a lot of things. But I want to know more about it before we get there." The lie was only partial. Clark didn't feel he knew enough about the dungeon to do much.
Especially since it was a definite fact that the dungeons were only kept for the white robed healers and not for the general people. Not many people had been there to see them.
"Well, they have multiple. We know that. I wonder why there are so many with the same beasts. Maybe it was split or something at one point. Or maybe they are actually a really common beast and we just never knew it?" Maria had her own theories. She seemed to be very happy thinking that more healing beasts could be around than she knew.
But she also wondered why the white robbed healers didn't push for them to grow more if that was the case.
"I think we could talk about this for much longer without answers than we realize." Clark laughed a little while he said this. He was sure that they could imagine just about everything. But before he knew it, the two had kept talking until they had fallen asleep right in front of the fire that had been made for the group.
No one bothered to say anything since they were asleep or about to fall asleep either.
The hours passed by and not a single beast bothered the group. This was mainly because Professor Wright had taken a much more active role when it came to protecting them. She had let them be tested but she was nothing but fair. She made sure to keep the group safe from any other beasts that may have come knocking while they rested.
By the time everyone had woken up, Professor Wright had taken a back seat role again and let the group start moving.
The same pace was kept as Isa and Elal took the lead, but this time, they managed to find the most recent tracks of a carriage and four guards walking beside it. It only took another half hour to hear it before they came across a wider section of trail that had four guards and a carriage driver stopped in preparation for a battle.
"We are not here to fight! I am here to continue the escort of my older brother. Under the Green family name you will join us as well." Ella spoke with more force and the four guards immediately relaxed giving respectful nods.
It wasn't that they needed proof of the group. They could see the green family insignia in Ella's hands. It was specially made to be able to show the true owner was a member of the family. If it was someone other than a green family member then it would not be able to glow the same way due to the runes on it. It was just another genius item made by Ella's mother.
She excelled in forging along with being a general. Genius ran in their family.
Without waiting for anyone else, Ella ran to the carriage and found that her brother was wrapped up safely. He was still unconscious and clearly pale. The damage of losing a limb and staying that way would definitely take a large toll on someone. Being awake would have just made it worse. He would have felt every single bit of pain.
But with the group there now, they could help protect from other beasts that showed up. However, the four guards were much more powerful than what Clark had expected. He could tell that they had beasts roaming around but he could not tell where they were. The guards had been hired in Nebula but they had some ties to the Green family.
It was only natural that the generals would send some people they trusted here and there to represent them. Especially since the Green family was part of an alliance with Nebula now.
But what stunned Clark even more was the fact that these guards were calm in every sense of the matter. They did not react to the group joining them or the fact that they would have to do more work. It was a clear sign of experience.
While being a guard for caravans was a great form of money making, it was dangerous. Many guards would remain in areas they were experienced with. Similar to the hiring of mercenaries. But where real guards separated themselves from mercenaries was clear. It was their mentality and ability to hold themselves higher.
Clark could see that here. The guards were maintaining vigilance and control over themselves. They had been in the wilderness more than anyone else Clark had met and it showed. They would look at an entire area then focusing in on something specific. This skill alone took a lot of thinking to learn. But it would help bring out dangers that many people would not notice in the long run.
"Clark, we are going to be a day away from the dungeon, right? We were heading to the furthest one and now are heading to the closest. Right?" Grace was looking around at the frozen forest and wondered just how different it would be in a day.
"We are, the forest will get thicker there though. It's almost like an icy jungle according to the maps I saw." This made Grace and the others worried for the carriage's safety.
"There are groups of healers that come out there though, they should have things safe for us. But we might learn a little something here and there while we finish the journey." Isa made a point to highlight that they could watch the guards work. This wasn't about them battling it out in the wilderness anymore. It was about observing the most experienced guards they had seen. Everyone understood this.
"That also means we can start meditating. So get stronger too." Ralph huffed a little. He wanted to strengthen himself over watch others walk around. One seemed more important than the other.
