Spirit Taming

Chapter 418: Energy Connections

Chapter 418: Energy Connections

As the night drifted by, Clark found himself on watch. He hadn't bothered to stop anyone from resting since he was sure that they all needed it as well. He also pushed for everyone else to rest better since he wanted some alone time with his beasts. Devi was clearly a little on the sour side since Clark had been asking him to head off since he had gotten back on the journey.

On the opposite side, Crim appeared to be more than happy to continue resting anywhere. The rumors about dragons always said that they could be slothful, now Clark fully believed that there were many sleepy dragons. It was even funnier since Crim was technically a slime so his sleeping made no sense to Clark at all. Not that the world made sense in the least.

Shy was the only outlier. The need to be close to someone made him wonder just what was going on in Shy's head. However, he did wonder if Shy I understood that she was the one and only of her species. The last known living puppeteer doll. This alone could put a lot of stress on a person let alone an intelligent beast. A very young intelligent beast that clearly cared for the ones that were around it.

Furthermore, it made Clark realize that Shy was always working to get stronger. Her eyes were always focused on Devi or Crim. intelligently watching and developing herself from what she could see. The proof of this were the little shadow threads that acted as hairs for her doll disguise.

The flowing motion changed to replicate the actions she saw elsewhere. Everyday move connected to her or Clark's shadow. She had already demonstrated how she could push herself to use them and control the body of a glacial spider. If she could do this without overextending herself, then the beasts she could control would be much greater.

What Clark wanted to see through, was how she controlled the energy. The shadow threads had gone in to the glacial spider and been able to manipulate its body to the point that the remaining energy within the glacial spider's body was able to be used somewhat. It kept the glacial spider whole instead of being destroyed by the pressure from a foreign energy.

The idea was that it was more related to the energy flow than the energy itself. Therefore, Clark was able to imagine that he might use it elsewhere. The idea was simple, use the shadow energy to tie the death and spiritual energy that Devi provided to the dragon energy. It was like the dragon energy was the heart that would meld all energies.

The ominous death energy would easily mix with the spiritual energy through the shadow threads as if they were the veins and arteries that fueled the dragon energy heart.

This was a very odd method of envisioning things, yet Clark felt that it was right. He was working on the mediation technique he could use at all times. Whether he was able to add more energies as Crim grew in to the remaining energies that his origin allowed, was not an issue. The method would allow all of these to slowly conform to Clark's body over time.

Especially if he was in a state of constant meditation while on the move.

His partners were not oblivious to Clark's goals. They had sensed him altering the flow of energy within his body and they too had adjusted the energy he took. That was why they had also wanted to be out of the eden's end taming space. Not that they disliked it there. The different areas were bountiful for them to grow without interruption.

But they did understand that they had limits if Clark did not also grow.

The symbiotic relationship was always something that any tamer had to focus on. Whether it was because they needed their bodies and souls stronger or they needed to help their beasts get stronger didn't matter. It just enhanced the fact that energies traveled both ways. But for Clark and his partners, they had the unique taming space that held its own secrets.

All of them had noticed the changes around the taming space. Herbs that Clark didn't add to it, energy crystals that had fused in to it and were not absorbed by any of them. That alone proved that the taming space was growing in a way. The other sections slowly awaking as time went on. Why would they be sealed if it wasn't something special? How could they open them?

Clark could not dwell on this too long though, he was focused on the sudden enlightenment of his dragon heart, shadow veins idea. It was a theory he had not considered so the idea was growing much faster. Especially since he was motivated from Brad's sudden show of strength in growth. He felt that he was starting to let himself fall behind.

While this was not actually the case, Clark still pushed himself. It was all about his perception, and that the moment, he had the perception that he absolutely had to get stronger. If it wasn't for the fact that he still had his goals, it was for the fact that he now had a team with him. A team that was willing to follow him through his journey and that needed him too.

Especially now that Ella's family had become victim to the corruption of others too.

When Shy noticed that Clark was manipulating the shadow energy flowing from her in to his body, she reached out with some shadows threads. Since the two were connected, Clark felt an instant clarity. Something akin to having pressure removed from a heavy object that had stopped him from moving forward.

The shadow threads that Shy offered were easily the purest shadow energy that she had given him yet.

In doing so, it was as if Clark had been handed the strongest wires to tie down the multiple energies within his body. Almost as greedily as he had been feeling for a breakthrough, the dragon energy that had long been helping his body grow faster reacted to the denser shadow energy within him now.

As if it had been waiting to absorb it, the dragon energy started to draw it in. While this feeling was new to Clark and made his entire being buzz, he didn't feel that his mind was overstressed. Instead, he recalled the potion that would enhance his mental strength. In the second it took him to drink it to now, he understood the immediate effects.

Greatly clarity bloomed in his mind and the feeling of understanding that came about was much greater than before. Every slight move of energy in his body was clear as the sky on a sunny day. The mysteriousness of death energy was still something too large to grasp, but with the enhancement of his mental strength it was controllable.

The death energy that Devi often provided with his equally mysterious understanding was corralled to follow the shadow threads. The dense energy that drew it to the dragon energy.

While undead dragons were rare, technically Crim was a species of one. A slime dragon made from the body of a long dead dragon. Naturally, it would attract death energy to it over time. The bonding of spiritual energy just went to help smooth this process.

All the energy that Devi had gained from chilling bite or consuming the souls of other beasts were there for the usage of Clark and the bonds he had

Furthermore, the four of them were now working together in mind and spirit. How could they not make some progress. With every beat of Clark's heart he felt that his body was adjusting to the newfound flow of energy. Surprisingly, he also felt that standing and moving was an easier task than it should be for meditation.

But that was the point of this.l study the ways of energy and learn to meditate while moving.

With the ideas and the theory to test, Clark stood up and looked around to make a walk around their camp to keep watch. The feeling of enlightenment only expanded as he did so. But his grip was loosening. He was like a battery losing power. The more he walked, the steps he took, all drew away the focus and the energy connections he was making.

As if he was running out of the energy in his own body to support such a complicated connection.

When the concentration finally fell apart, Clark was left gasping for a deep breath. However, this wasn't without reward. The strength in his mind and body had increased. It was at a cost of higher energy consumption. But it was the very beginning. The first main step to actually creating his own meditation technique.

"What were you doing?" Brad's eyes had opened where he was resting near the fire. A confused and troubled face gazing at Clark. "Why were you all shadowy and ominous?" Clark had no idea what he had looked like to others while he had been messing with his internal and external energy. He had no clue.
