Chapter 404: Kindness in The Cold
Chapter 404: Kindness in The Cold
"What are we going to do now?" Maria knew that they were easily able to leave the garden. The frozen river serpent didn't wake up at all ask they left through the same corridor toward the basement floors. But that wasn't the issue. They were still faced with the fact that they had no idea how to get out of the castle at all. It was just a maze to them.
"I was thinking we would have to find our own way out. We are still entertainment." Clark tried to sound positive but he knew very well that he was stuck with what they had. The fact that the ice dragon had just left was safer but also a clear example of her taking the audience role in this.
"We just need to get to a window and jump in to a pile of snow. The ice maiden and the frost finch can do that, right?" Ralph was blunt as usual. But he actually seemed to have a point. He wasn't just joking or making a comment out of boredom. The idea wasn't half back.
"You know, why not?" Clark shrugged and went toward one of the many windows that were pretty high up. The carved ornate windows what were just open to the snow since the entire castle was ice and was protected by the ice dragon. How could the environment destroy such a protected and controlled castle?
"Wait, what?" Isa wasn't sure that Calkr was thinking right. She thought he would just brush off what Ralph had said like nothing had happened. But here they were, Clark was having Ralph push him up to the ledge of the high window.
"Oh, not here. It's too high and there is stone below. We need to move over a bit more." The rest of the group soon started to join Isa's side of things. They were sure that Clark had lost his mind now. Completely.
"I refuse to believe that this is something your eyes can show you. Whatever special traits you may possess can not adequately gather that we can jump from one window to the snow safely. The speed would-"
"This one is still bad too. But we should be able to move down the hallways more. I just wish we could guess which passageway to take."
"We just have to stick to the right side. We know that is the closest wall." Ralph and Clark were in their own world. Completely ignoring that Ella was trying to explain their flawed logic.
"If I can't beat them, join them." Brad shrugged a bit. He was seeing that this was going to happen whether he liked it or not. Jerold had also already given up and was running ahead to look at another window.
"What's wrong with them?" Mari tried to see what Ella and Isa thought but they were quickly realizing that Grace was the only one that had not responded to this at all.
When the three girls spotted Grace, they found that she had stopped in front of a small painting. One that would have easily been missed if they had just kept walking without trying to look through the open air windows. Even Clark, Ralph, Jerold, and Brad noticed that the girls were not following so they paused.
'First frost painting- unique
The first painting of the great ice dragon Marion. Painted as the first of many, this painting was inspired by the first time the great ice dragon Marion released her pure ice elemental energy on to the summer in winter dungeon. The altering of a dungeon is nearly impossible for a single beast unless they have a pure elemental energy and a powerful one at that.
This scene shows the seven dragons that came together to cause such a scene watching the plains of summer in winter dungeon before they altered it permanently with stronger frost. The sudden change created the unique frozen wonderland that glistens within this painting. Vibrant colors and jewels of ice coming together…'
The image was small. Maybe the size of a single piece of paper. Enough that someone would wonder how exactly a scene like this could be possible on something so small. But Grace had seen it and fell right in love with it. "This painting. It's the best one I have seen yet.
Clark, can I take this one?"
There was no reaction from Clark. He knew that he had no right to say a word about it. But the castle, as still as it was, did not have any response to Grace saying that she wanted this painting. Even when she reached up for it, the painting easily came off the wall and sat in her hands.
Even though it was made of ice, it could not melt with the warmth of grace's hands. She just held it in awe while the others wondered just how she had managed to decide on it. They were all captured by it that they did not notice the icy walls behind them that had once been a window were somewhat changing.
They only noticed after the walls had sealed off the passageway and left them on a balcony of ice. One that had a massive pile of snow right below it. So large that the mountain could be said to be half coated in it now. "Grace, I think you may have done really well there." The entire group looked at the suddenly easy seascape from the castle.
They all knew that it was the pure and honest compliments that grace had given without any ulterior motive.
"Down we go?" Ralph stepped in front of Grace and jumped first. Everyone could see him sliding down the massive pile of fluffy snow. His gaze fixed on them while he made sure that it was safe enough to go down. No one saw when he had grabbed it, but he had Brad's shield to defend against any dangers in the snow. He literally paved the way for them.
"My turn!" Grace jumped next. Not a care in the world. For such a dangerous place, the smallest kindness seemed to have made the greatest difference.
The group could think whatever they wanted, however, Clark was already smirking as he made his own theories. They had just offered some hope to an ice dragon that was sitting here for many, many years. Now that she knew that they might be able to free her from her duty here, it made a lot of sense that she would offer them more. Wordlessly, but with power and clear desire.
"We will be back. I will make sure that the strongest in Nebula work on exactly what you need. I will not go against my word. I have too many goals to break my promises." Clark said this out loud and he swore the entire castle vibrated. When he looked up as he jumped out of the castle following the other, he swore he saw the deep blue scales of a large creature flying through the snow clouds.
The others had waited for Clark to get to the bottom. The plains of snow welcomed them again. This time though, the wind had calmed completely. Not a single sound or breeze disrupted the snow around them. Nothing was interrupting the pure white beauty of a snowy day. "The exit is right that way.
We should just sprint to it. Get to work on what we need to do." Isa had already been driven by the fact that her ice maiden could grow. But she was also thinking about the other tasks and materials she had to deal with. That the entire group needed to handle.
"We can make that happen. It's a race then. I doubt anything will… I guess we have a babysitter." Clark was going to make it a game when he noticed an interruption in the snow around them.
'Brutal ice lizard- ultra rare
The brutal ice lizard is just that, brutal. Due to its draconic blood it has a vicious battle ability that makes it a feared beast in the snow. Its pure white color allows it to move through snowstorms unseen. Its hardened scales are able to deflect many physical attacks while it is also able to defend against magical attacks.
The basic…'
Clark barely read the information. He knew that the Brutal ice lizard was going with them. Its size was that of a horse, which was showing that it was young. Yet, that didn't mean it was weak. The brutal ice lizards had dragon blood in them even though they were mainly an ice type beast. They had great strength.
"That beast is definitely coming with us to make sure we do exactly as we promise. We will bring it to meet the Nebula city lord and show it that we will give over the information I promised. Then it should be able to report back to its mother." Clark was careful to explain it. But he also relaxed a little. "Hey, want to race us to the exit?" The group shook their heads.
They already thought Clark was going crazy, now he was offering a young beast to race with them to the exit.
