Chapter 397: Defeated ice Beast
Chapter 397: Defeated ice Beast
Devi had returned with unsettled emotions. They were his warning to the group that there was surely something ahead that should not be there. Something more than the beast the wyrm wolf had hunted. Did that mean that there were many? Most likely not, Clark couldn't feel that level of anxiety that would make him completely stop.
"There is something ahead eating at the remains of the wyrm wolf's hunt. It's distracted so Jerold and Devi will go to assassinate it. Let's all creep close though. I might be able to pick out a weak point." This was a solid plan that everyone agreed with.
The group took a lower stance and moved slowly. It may have been five minutes for Devi to go ahead and check things, but it took the group ten minutes to sneak ahead. The larger room they entered was the very same carved ice however, it was much large than the previous space they had found the glacial spiders living in.
that was to be expected with the growing size of everything to fit larger beasts though.
What had caught all of their attention was the defeated beast in the center. Blood that had pooled around the once white shape that seemed to have been killed with a vicious bite to the neck.
'Ice antler deer body- uncommon
Known for their extreme curiousness, the ice antler deer will travel around searching anything and everything for ice type herbs of any kind. They have extremely tough stomachs and can digest many of them with ease. Their ice antlers are formed from a mix of bone and ice crystals from their constant absorption of ice energy throughout their body.
The body has been killed by a single powerful bite to its neck due to ambush. The remaining parts are just the bones and small pieces of meat. The hide has been ruined by bloodstain. The antlers are still present and the most valuable part to some beasts and tamers.'
Clark was able to tell that this was a beast that has some value. It was very large. To call it the average deer beast was foolish. It was easily able to stand over ten feet tall which was hard to wrap their heads around. This couldn't be the normal deer. Yet, they were caught by what was eating the remains of the ice antler deer.
'Ice whip fox- rare
The ice whip fox is known as a scavenger in just about any icy environment. They will track predators while remaining hidden using their pure white tail to hide their bodies. When the predator they follow kills, they will consume whatever is left before following the predators again.
They are a rare beast due to their ability to hide in the snow and ice. That does not make them weak though. The ice whip fox can cause harder ice to form on its tail and use it as a whip against enemies. This is how it will defend as a last resort. Its ice whip attack is very powerful, it is known to cut through tough metals.
The fur from this beast can be used to make very pliant and tough armor or it can be made in to an extremely powerful whip when ice type energy is channeled through it. Many blacksmith's or fur cutters would pay a large price to even work with it due to the ability to show their best skills when making the products from it…'
"That's an ice whip fox. It likes to hide and will attack if it can with its tail. Don't be fooled, it is stronger than it looks." Clark gave the warning to Jrold and Devi while the two hide themselves away with invincibility.
The rest of the group watched from around the corner carefully. They didn't even dare to breathe. While they waited. If they alerted the cie tail fox then it could all be over. The ice tail fox was struggling to get meat from the ribs of what had once been an ice antler deer. The struggle was the perfect chance for both Devi and Jerold to attack.
That was what they did too. The slight glint of a dagger laced with Lit's poison since Maria had made sure to add it to Jerold's dagger, pierced the neck of the ice tailed fox. The immediate retreat of a now visible Jerold was seen before a sudden laughter echoed out and a bite to the ice tailed fox's leg appeared.
Devi had paid attention to what Calkr wanted and the attack had been on the leg to draw energy, cause some trouble with laughter, and overall keep the fur of the ice tail fox in good condition. The ice tail fox had tumbled slightly with the two back to back attacks and sudden assault of sound from Devi's laughter. That had been it though.
There was a stumble but not a single sound escaped its maw before it collapsed and was defeated.
"That was perfect. Quick, I need to get that fox stored away so we can safely butcher it without the blood getting everywhere." Isa rushed and stored away the ice tailed fox before it could get stained with blood like the ice antler deer that was already gone.
"Clark, you knew the details of both these beats. I want to know more about them. Can you let me take those antlers?" Ella was wondering if Calkr would want to research the beasts since he had flawlessly named them right away then pointed out their valuable parts. That was how he had warned them of the dangers as well.
"Of course you can, the ice crystals that mix with bone are sure to be perfect for research before we give them to Grace or Isa." Clark was much happier to let Ella learn from them. He would have just given them to the others as materials to use.
There was also the fact that Isa was not showing any interest in the materials around yet. She was on the look out for one that would be perfect for her ice maiden to grow in to a new level. But that was seeming harder than she had imagined. So far they had seen a few materials that would be perfect as the catalyst for the energy around. Especially these ice antlers.
Yet, she still shook her head at them. Isa wanted the very best for her ice maiden, one of her closest partners.
"We aren't doing anything with the leftover meat, right?" Ralph looked over at the bones and the meat from the deer. It was odd that he was asking all of the sudden.
"No, the bones lack ice energy and the meat isn't too little." Clark watched and Ralph nodded.
"Then my beast will eat it. I read about blood iron. It can be extracted from beast bones of every single type. The more bones that my partner eats, the better chance of creating a single ingot of blood iron to feed Brad's armor." The two looked at one another. Brad was in full support proving that Ralph and Brad had been thinking about this potential a lot.
"That sounds like a good idea. The taming space that Brad has and yours will work well together when it comes to the energies within them." Clark didn't even flinch. He was impressed and made sure it showed in the tone of voice he used.
"We can't stay here long, right? There is a lot of blood still." Grace made a very solid point and the round looked around the large room they had yet to explore.
"Instead of staying here, why don't we go up?" Reese's question sounded much better since going up was their overall goal. The castle was still above them for some distance since the mountain had been very large from outside in the snowy plains.
"There are stairs!" Maria was very glad to see that Reese had spotted the stairs. The side of the large room had some stairs big enough for a large beast to use to go up to the castle. But what was even more telling where the claw marks on the stairs. They had been used be tough and large breasts already.
This would be about to determine that some of the beasts were actively leaving the castle to come and hunt beneath it.
This could also mean that there were more children of the ice dragon that would come this way. Whether that was good or bad would be seen later. For the moment though, all the group cared about was the fact that they now had a way to get up and toward the goals they had set.
"We should eat while we climb the stairs. We need to keep up our energy or else we will get too cold." Clark had to be very vigilant of this. Once thing he knew about the cold was that it made the body work harder. No matter the resistances, the group was burning more calories right now than usual. It was a smart move to keep safe.
