Chapter 388: Nebula Dungeon Entrance
Chapter 388: Nebula Dungeon Entrance
"How could they knock us out!? I will beat them all to the dirt when I get out of this carriage." Ralph was fuming mad about being knocked out to be taken to the dungeon. But there was nothing he could do about it other than complain.
"They should have told us first. It would have been more polite. I know why they did it though." Grace tried to counter Ralph's frustration. However, she was feeling very unhappy with how they had gone about it too.
"It is what it is. Just be glad that they used the purple smoke instead of using physical force. You would prefer to have a headache rather than a restful nap?" Iss made a much clever point. Things could have been done the hard way to make sure that Nebula's dungeon was safe.
"Hey, you know something that I just thought of?" Reese grabbed everyone's attention as he suddenly spoke. "No one ever told us why the blood moon cult came. Like, we were somewhat told that they were here to take something but then it was all swept under the rug. We haven't hear anything else.
Illia didn't say anything either so I'm sure that she is in the dark." Reese had been waiting to say this for a little while since he had realized it. But he had been trying to think it out first.
"I hate to think about that…" Maria wanted to just brush it off too. It would feel better that way. If they could all pretend that there was nothing more to it and the adults would be handling all the problems. However, they all knew that the adults could only seem to handle so much while they were also somewhat fighting one another for power.
It was evidence that once someone had become an adult in the cities that they were locked in by rules and the gazes of others. That was why no one was able to just detain and stop the false ethereal academy students right away. There was no solid evidence that said they were really cultists. Even just having Jerold's words didn't help.
"I have a feeling we will figure it out after we get back from the dungeon. But they stopped fighting in the tournament because they got their goal. It means whatever they needed, they have. That's not good even if they were just stealing money away. Not that I think they were after money." Clark let out a long sigh after speaking.
He couldn't keep this on his mind for the entire time they were traveling to the dungeon. He had to focus on the larger mountain they were about to face ahead of them.
"I dislike the sound of that too. But we need to get stronger even if we don't have to battle a cult again." Grace was being positive. She knew they should get stronger no matter what happened.
"Instead of talking about this, we should think about what materials we are looking for. They will be valuable to Isa or usable by us." Ella wanted to change the flow to a more positive goal. To something that didn't directly mean, they were going to be fighting for their lives against people.
Fighting against wild beasts was easier to comprehend than people who were literally willing to become monsters.
"Frozen rain, that is a material that has a lot of ice energy in it. But it's not actually frozen rain. It's the ice from a beast called an ice wraith. They will live in areas with water and a lot of ice. The mist of waterfalls or nature freeze when touching them causing frozen rain drops. Hard to find when in actually rain but very useful.
They won't freeze." Grace spoke up. She had memorized the material to help her later.
"Frost steel, cold iron, chilled bronze, and eternal ice. All metals, ores, or unique forging things. You already know why." Ralph wasn't being left out. However, he was sure that he would be able to use them.
"There will be basic myrtles too. Most dungeons have basic metals because of a mountain in them. This one has a mountain." Brad rebutted against Ralph but only got a nod from Ralph who was fine with going after normal ores. He just wanted to focus on the one associated with ice type energy so that he and his molten boar could gain a better cold and water resistance.
"I will be looking for spiritual ice crystals. They are rarer than ice energy crystals. They have spiritual and ice energy in them." Isa had found this material in one of the books that Illia had lent her. It was a simple material that helped a beast absorb ice type energy and spiritual energy. However. The spiritual energy was not for nourishing the best.
Instead, the spiritual energy within it helped the ice type energy remain calm while being absorbed.
"You will also be looking for something more unique. Maybe a frost veil, or a frost silk from a higher class beast, you might even be able to find something like an ice core from a snow or ice golem." Maria offered up alternatives. She and everyone else knew that isa had an eye out for the one material that would be the catalyst to her ice maiden growing. It just had to be the right material.
"Look, they are stopping up ahead of us." The plains were close to the base of the large glacier or mountain of ice. It was definitely not the place they were going but it felt like it should be.
"I wonder why they are stopping so far from the glacier? All that's here is a small wooden hut." Reese felt that they were stopping her for a rest before they would have gone inside the dungeon. However, he saw all the carriages had been emptied and everyone was easily walking inside the wooden hut. This was very odd.
"Because we aren't going inside the dungeon right away. We are going underneath the ice." Clark couldn't help but smile as he understood it. "Sometimes as ice melts in the sun, it makes waterways. Then when it gets colder again, all the water that melted has carved a path through the glacier. Inside there will be caves and tunnels of ice.
I bet that's what they use to get to the four entrances of their dungeon."
"I have read about this happening. It is also why glaciers crack or large avalanches can happen. It is dangerous." Ella considered what she had said for a moment. "They must use their beasts to maintain it in the warmer months when the sun hits it. That would prevent the entire glacier from falling away.
The carriage stopped and the guards with them ushered the group out in to the burning cold. The wind was whipping around the glacier with such intensity that it felt as if the cold and the wind were working together to cut them. But they only had to worry about it for a moment. The cold encouraged them to rush to the small hut.
What was revealed inside were stairs carved in to the floor. Right in to a passageway made of ice bricks. An intricately carved entrance to beneath the massive glacier that was definitely only showing a portion of its true size above the ground.
"You will meet more guards at the bottom. They will be taking you to the entrance you will be required to enter the dungeon with. You will most likely be unable to see any of the other participants in this reward expedition. We wish you luck." The guards gave a small salute out of respect. It was very clear that they were proud to be able to help the first years who had fought with their city's young.
"Down we go in to the cold." Isa sang a little as she said this. Her ice maiden had revealed itself to take in the cold energy and to feel the environment. From what Isa and her beast were feeling, this was a great spot. Concentrated ice type energy with a higher purity than many other places.
"There's an ancient ice energy here. I wonder how long this place has been frozen." Grace voiced her curiosity while Isa hummed to herself even more. The two had no answers but were enjoying this area very much.
"Take advantage of it while we can. We are going to be very busy when we get to the bottom." The passageway stopped being stairs shortly after Clark focused everyone up. Instead of just a large room at the bottom, a small icy garden was waiting for them. From it were four separate pathways that led to the entrances. But the guards waiting there were older. These were the elders of Nebula city.
"Welcome. These are the entrances to the dungeon you seek. Please rest a moment while we give you the final warnings and information." The four elders of Nebula looked happy to see them. Especially Isa and Grace who had ice type beasts by their side.
