Spirit Taming

Chapter 345: Purple Vs. Clark

Chapter 345: Purple Vs. Clark

The number of things that had happened was more than anyone had expected. Awakening a new skill was something that normally happened through harsh training and the consumption of materials. Clark was questioning it greatly while he watched Ralph be taken away while the rest of his team followed.

However, the more Clark's mind worked the more he began to understand. Ralph and his molten boar had been absorbing and purifying metals for hours on end to train, he truly wanted to become a blacksmith to get ahead of others and challenge him. Therefore, Ralph's control and his boar's control of energy had become much more sensitive.

That was enough to activate any skills that were dormant between them. The molten release had sent great amounts of energy to Ralph causing his body damage but also multiplying his strength and basic fighting capabilities. That was how he easily crushed opponents he had struggled with just seconds ago. It was also damaging to the molten boar though.

The metallic hair had heated and melted off exposing super heated red metallic muscles. That meant that the boar lost a lot of its built up defensive layers. It would need to consume a great deal of metals to replenish and be able to fight the same way again. That meant that Ralph would most likely be down for the count when it came to the next tournament battle if Clark beat their next opponent.

This all had another great effect though, Clark had gained a lot more respect for Ralph. Not only did Clark feel blind about Ralph's depth of feelings for Grace, but it was also a testament to how Raph had begun to feel about their entire group. Ralph wanted them to win with everything and would gladly throw his body in the line to make sure they all saw the victory they wanted.

That was why the others had left the rest of the match to Clark and rushed off with the healers taking Ralph away.

"No one has challenged my team in such a way since I assembled it. Those two came from the same border village near our academy. They grew up together and have always helped one another. I believed them able to return more points to my team. I was wrong."

Clark's head turned to the opponent that had taken the stage with him. "I thought you would have asked about my teammates more. But it was very impressive that your two teammates fought so well. They are an example to many people here. So, should I still just call you purple? You're not the first one that goes by purple or purple poison.

Surprisingly, a lot of people have purple themed beasts and choose the name purple." Clark joked a little while the referee double checked the barriers before the match was going to happen.

"Our name was agreed between my partner and I. we are one and that is what we decided. Now, can I meet your partners? You have three, I can sense them. Their thoughts are very loud even though they are still hiding a bit." purple brandished his heavy sword and looked at Clark calmly. There was a purple flash in his eyes as the purple spirit parasite began to enhance his body.

"I can introduce you. This is Crimson, he is my second beast. You already saw him a little bit. This is Shyama, she's still young so I am going to have her watch and learn. Please leave her be. Shy, don't participate in this battle.

I will set you to the side. Just watch your older brothers well, alright." Purple nodded, he could sense the younger and immature thoughts of a newer beast who had more recently hatched.

Once Clark had set Shy down, a few people in the audience wondered what he was doing since it looked like he had just set a toy down. Unfortunately, they would not be able to figure out that the doll was actually a beast.

"And the first beast I awoke later in life than I expected is Devil, he is my guiding spirit sp to speak." The slight laughter around the arena made the referee feel chills before he looked between the two wondering where the sound had come from before he sensed the floating energy in the air and understood it was a beast that Clark used.

"Begin the battle!" The audience roared in cheers as the referee began the last battle. They had been waiting to see the dragon tamer and the insanely powerful terra academy student fight.

When Clark brandished his spear and Crim melded with his body leaving a partially formed chest piece and wings, the crow erupted even more loudly. However, the sound of chilling laughter began to reverberate drawing out the sound of the audience. It made purple glanced around.

He could feel and sense Devi's thoughts but could not ascertain where the sounds were actually coming from since Devi was still invisible.

"This is beginning to wear on my mind. A slow but effective method." Purple didn't appear affected but Clark was not going to sit and wait for the battle to move on or his opponent to change his position. Instead, Clark used his ghostly steps to dash forward using the full moon pierces as the first attack.

In an instant, the large sword slushed upwards deflecting Clark's black lightning spear. It was a quick move but had been enough to push Clark backwards. Yet, his attack had not been weak. He had also stopped Purple from pursuing him.

The wings on Clark's back flapped twice to push him closer to purple again. The black lightning spear slashed downward using the falling moon pierce with more weight this time. But at the last second, Clark shifted to the side and used a crescent moon slash slightly cutting Purple's arm. This didn't come without his own injury.

Clark had changed his movement because Purple had also slashed downward and barely caught his forearm with the tip of his large greatsword.

"So we are both fast enough. What if I add a little more challenge." Clark was grinning more and more. This was a real battle against a real opponent that had true strength. The purple spirit parasite had brought senses, musculature, and even basic instincts well over the height of what a first year should have. It was incredibly impressive.

"I welcome your attempt." Purple remained calm but the blood dripping down his arm was a reminder that he was also facing a truly dangerous opponent that was much stronger than he appeared. But that was to be expected of a dragon tamer.

"Crimson, cover my wound and prepare for a faster attack." Clark's simple order caused the slime body that had formed wings and a chest plate to extend and cover the cut on his arm. That stopped the bleeding. It also made the audience react with surprise.

Tio them, Crim wasn't a slime dragon but a unique dragon hatchling that could grow in to a full armor and was holding back his strength since Clark wasn't using his full strength. It was a testament to how strong a dragon tamer was.

"So you still hold-" Purple was slightly annoyed that he also thought Clark was holding back, that was until he felt the sudden needle like pain and a draining feeling. Before he could slash behind him, the laughter had started back up making him feel slightly dizzy.

"Sorry, But Devi needed a snack. Your spiritual energy is very pure because of your purple spirit parasite." Clark had used his ghostly steps with a large flap of wings to get right in front of Purple. He used the falling moon pierce again with even more weight behind it cutting in to Purple's ribs. However, Purple had turned just enough not to take a major hit.

Instead, he had lifted his greatsword and slash downward severing the two wings from Clark's back.

"This should make you more manageable from now on." Purple felt that he had traded a fair blow with Clark. This attack should have weakened his opponent and actually given him the edge now.

"Too bad you never really understood what crimson was. Yes he's a dragon, but what kind of dragon?" The wings melted and moved back toward Clark before forming wings again taking Clark in to the air right above Purple where he couldn't easily reach without jumping and losing his footing on the ground. It was a very advantageous position.

"Slime dragon! Nova academy has a slime dragon!" Voices began to ring out as Clark looked down on Purple. Naturally, many people had not heard of such a dragon., but purple had done his research. He had spent enough time learning to know this was a very difficult beast to fight. One that held multiple typings that could go well beyond what he understood at his level as a first year student.

"Come on, let's play in the air. I bet you can't make me fall. Even if you cut our wings again." Devi bit down leaving another set of teeth marks on Purple.s back before the laughter started over all again. "Or will you just let yourself be a snack?" If anyone didn't know better, Clark appeared to be a villain here.
