Chapter 285: A Little Guidance
Chapter 285: A Little Guidance
Professor Wright had been fine with the two groups she split her students up in to, taking their time. She wanted them to see what a real busy dungeon was like. This had been a stop she wanted to make if even for an hour. But seeing that Clark had other plans, she was happy to stop for a day to explore.
"You want to head in to the dungeon already? it has barely been two hours since we got here and set camp up fully." Her stunned questioning made them all look a little sheepish.
"Yes, we want to try and make it to a certain point to examine a few things. We were able to gather a little information. Brad also has to get used to the new shield and sword that we managed to procure from an unowned spatial ring." This raised Professor Wright's eyebrows. It was just enough to make her curious.
When Brad took out the black iron shield and sword professor Wright was ready to grab them from his hands. She knew how valuable they were and that was why they carried a danger. Some people would see them and know that a rich family would be around. That made them act like fools. They would go one of two ways.
There would be those that thought that they could steal away the valuable items. Those would be the people that lived at the very bottom of society and made a career out of theft. They didn't care about lives, just valuables.
The others would be those that tried to suck up to the rich. They would set up schemes to make the rich indebted to them. They would cause trouble or lead the young rich to dangerous places so that they would be able to impress them by rescue. Whatever random and strange ways they could, they would latch on to the rich and bleed away whatever they could.
The only loyalty they would have was money, and when it was gone? So were they.
"It's fine. There are merchants that sell such things without even a glance. You were lucky but gambling like this is dangerous. For now, keep those hidden and prepare to go to the dungeon. Remember the limits of your abilities. If you face true dangerous you may not be able to escape."
Since there was an additional danger this time, Professor Wright was sure that there would be something unexpected. She knew that she was risking the entire group that would be fighting in the tournament. However, they were weak. Half of the team was out of the elite class and not even close to having the experience or mental faculties to compete in such a tournament.
The more that they risked, the more that they learned. If it wasn't for the fact that Clark was a wildcard that seemed to present her with amazing things, she would have kept them to physical training with her as the teacher the entire trip. So far though, he had proved that he was a good thing to gamble on.
"We are going to leave then. We will be back as soon as we can." Clark was serious but Reese seemed a little lost looking. He was not caught up yet when it came to what Maria, Brad, and Clark had spoken about. Luckily, Maria was able to whisper some details to him before Clark took the lead towards the dungeon.
Watching them leave made Ella and the rest of their group frown. They were already being left behind? How could that be fair? Clark's group was sure to find great materials. It might not have been exactly as originally planned, but it was still enough to make them all wonder how they would be able to compete.
"Prepare to leave. We will give them an hour before we venture in to the dungeon. I will not be the one to lose out on important data." Ella said this but it was clear that she was going ahead of her schedule because she wanted to keep up.
"There are a lot of people gathering over there. Is there really a line to get inside a dungeon?" Brad was unfamiliar with this. Yet, so was Clark. All the dungeons he had gone to he had been brought to or they were not as popular.
"Please wait a moment. Each group may enter in separation. There are no allowances for multiple groups at once. We will not allow team hunting here." The military tamer saw the younger group and stopped them to explain this. It was to make sure that they learned but also adhered to the rules set by the cities that owned dungeons in the future.
"That makes sense. Thank you for telling us. We were just wondering." Clark greeted the military tamer politely. He knew that being obtuse would only cause issues. But being polite could help them a lot.
"Good things happen when you learn lessons early. If you want to enter, these are the groups waiting to purchase what comes out. There were three large teams with experienced learners making a deeper run." The information was common knowledge now so the military tamer didn't see an issue telling the younger kids.
"That would make anyone want to wait for the good materials. Maybe we will meet them on the way back out of the dungeon and can make a few trades." Maria held a very positive attitude. She wanted to see what they could get out of this dungeon whether it was just from their own hard work or a better trade with a better team.
Seeing one of their fellow military tamers guiding the children, the other military tamers understood what was going on. They always took a little extra care with the younger tamers. They were here to learn and would be intimidated by the hustle and bustle of a busy dungeon.
But what Clark was more surprised about were the tamers that clearly wanted to snap up any materials that came out of the dungeon.
Being bombarded by merchants and their employees as soon as they left the dungeon would be rough. If the fighting was hard, they would be too exhausted to fight them off properly. They could make poor deals facilitated by a tired mind. Therefore, it was valuable to have energy left. It made a good case for why a team might not push themselves to the limit of the dungeon.
The entrance was a lot different than that of the other dungeons. The entrance was less like a cave and more similar to a carved stone door. The opening was made of metal gates that could be easily opened and sealed if need be. It was as if this dungeon had been created with the perfect ability to defend against any beasts breaking out.
Naturally, there were risks of the dungeon being broken. If the beasts escaped, they would range from any different strengths. Weakest to strongest could easily collapse a city. That was why people would worry most about a beast wave from this dungeon. Luckily, this was a popular dungeon hunted regularly. Preventing this was seen as a double win for any tamer.
They protected their homes but also made money.
The military tamers made way for Clark's group. They seemed to be motioning to other groups that had already been in and out. It seemed that it was better to go earlier in the day. T was an oddity for a group to be entering so late. But this only made Clark smile.
"We should see more groups returning than we see groups going in. This will give us better space to fight and explore." Having less competition was best. Clark knew that they had to go deeper than their skills allowed. Now they would be training their battle strength to the max of their capability.
Yet, this didn't make him scared. He knew that he was already above what many tamers could do. Most that had not been to an academy at all would struggle to self teach or be taught by family. Therefore, they would miss out on what we had done. The mentorship and the materials would all be something that they might never see.
With his strength paired with the other, Clark was sure that they could push to the fifth floor and discover the deceased rune carver. Then he would be able to unravel the mystery of what the rune carver apprentice had been sent to explore. That would be another massive win for them.
Knowledge was power. Clark already saw this in the analysis of the system. If he didn't have the lottery drawings or the system speaking to him, that would be fine. But if he lost the analysis function he would be left lost. He would have no way to find information in the blink of an eye. It was the sole reason for how strong Clark could become and how he could help others.
That was just going to be a fact for as long as he lived. And that didn't make him unhappy, it made Clark very thankful.
