Chapter 271: Foolish Actions
Chapter 271: Foolish Actions
Approaching the dual tailed lizard was harder than what Clark had expected. As it rose in anger, the dual tailed lizard shook off some of the stones and ores that it had been nesting in. This caused many of the moles to attempt to rush at them to take them and burrow away. In turn, it caused the hammer tailed lizards to renew their attacks.
They could care less about the human tamers that had begun to attack them.
"Hey! Why did you start the party without us!" The shout was from none other than Isa. she had already begun creating a large fireball that she was sending across the cavern. Her flame sprite had fused with her body in a single fluid motion while the ice maiden was in front of Reese, Ralph, and Grace to protect them.
Clark wanted to shout back but Isa had made a massive distraction which just added to the perfection in the moment. So many things were happening that the battle had been turned in to chaos. Moles were running away from hammer tailed lizards while some had just been struck by the fireball that isa had made.
There were even hammer tail lizards that had been struck by flames and were burning because some of the dust on their bodies was flammable.
Clark pushed his body to move even faster at this moment. His ghostly steps had gotten better and more flexible over time. Especially since he had used some inspiration from the way that Crim moved as a dragon slime.
The power in his step as he neared the dual tailed lizard was much stronger than it had been even days ago. The constant flow of energy between crim and him had ensured that Calrk was improving even without his own realization. His bonds could on;y get stronger and so could he.
The falling moon pierce with the black lightning spear aimed at the weak belly of the twin tailed lizard. However, the lizard had already sensed an enemy. She was ready for the attack because her instincts were screaming at her to move and attack. Therefore, a single one of the tails swung toward Clark causing him to have to duck under or lose his head.
The second tail moved right afterwards in a downward crushing motions shattering the floor of the cave while also opening up a large crater where it landed. Clark could only wonder how long the dual tailed lizard had lived to be able to do such damage. To be able to put so much weight in to a single strike without even exerting her full force.
Without any hesitation, Ralph's molten boar took a deep breath while crunching on something Clark could only hope was an ore and not a beast. He could hear it through the chaos of battles. Before he could move away and remain focused on his own fight, the molten boar spit up what it was chewing on.
The molten ore flew through the air with a bright red color attracting the dual tailed lizards' attention. The drops of stomach acid that dropped on the scales of the dual tailed lizard's scales while the main chunk of molten ore landed on one of its feet. The roar of pain from the dual tailed lizard proved to be ideal for Clark's next opening.
If Clark had only known that his actions with Ralph's help had caused a bigger issue, then it would have been simpler. The moment the screech of pain died out and the dual tailed lizard turned, everyone saw that its eyes had become red with rage. The hammer tail lizards mirrored this. The cry of pain from the female that controlled the entire group had enraged them.
They would protect the dual tailed lizard with everything they had. The nest and eggs had to be saved. They were the only beasts that could do it.
The steel clawed moles were crushed one by one. Their attempts to invade and steal from the dungeon were null at this point. Completely useless because all it had led to was their deaths. This was also a sign for the group to start to prepare for a final attack.
The hammer tailed lizards had reduced significantly in numbers. Even a few of the steel clawed moles had left wounds on them. It made things easier for the group to take down the remaining lizards. "Ella, handle the larger males. Isa and Maria, take down the smaller ones that are moving faster. Ralph, keep guard of the others.
Your molten boar has some decent attacks." Clark issued basic orders for the situation they were in. He knew that this was the best they could do for now.
The situation that he saw was one that needed focus. Clark used the ghostly steps to move from his position back toward the dual tailed lizard that was barely able to put weight on one foot. It had the makings of a perfect blind spot for Clark to approach from. Yet, when he managed to get in to position, there was one problem.
Jerold had somehow managed to dash away from Ralph who was furious but remained protecting the others. The attack that Jerold was trying to set was not one that would be able to help at all. The spear he had was not backed with correct strength, it was missing the proper quality of spear, and worst of all it was not the plan.
"Crimson!" Clark made a single angry call and heard a roar before a flash of red tackled Jerold away from the dual tailed lizard. Seconds later the two tails slammed down on to the ground causing the entire area to shake.
If Jerold had been there still and Crim had not been rushing towards Clark as soon as real chaos had broken out, then Jerold would be nothing but a pile of what used to be a human.
The downside to this that went further was that Calrk had just become a loud and open target for the dual tailed lizard. She was angry and had seen him stand out to order Crim around. She assumed she had already defeated the ones that were behind her so that left Clark nearest to her.
The tails arced up again to slam down but what Clark didn't expect was for another person to charge in front of him. A single tail whipped at Clark but Brad raised his shield and twisted his body. With a single grunt of all his force, the shield pushed against the tail that was slamming downwards.
Instead of blocking the sure to kill him hit, Brad had used all his strength and changed his body's motion to change the direction of the tail. This caused the dual tailed lizard to be off balance with her damaged foot. Clark watched as Brad collapsed from the force of the tail but knew that Brad was only knocked unconscious.
In this chance, Clark stepped forward and used the crescent moon slash on the weak bell of the dual tailed lizard. The thinned scales from carrying eggs for months were easily slashed apart. The resulting screech of pain just riled up the remaining hammer tailed lizards. But that was of no concern, the others had already set themselves up to handle them.
Crim had felt Clark's absolute anger and incredible disappointment. He could have left Jerold on the ground where he had tackled him but instead dragged him to lay right in front of Clark. While Crim did this, Clark was checking Brad's wounds and already applying a health potion.
One of the most important things for a tamer to have at a moment like this because it was what was saving Brad from any permanent injuries.
As Clark worked, the sounds of battle died down to an eerie silence. Everyone had witnessed what had happened in some way or another. They all knew that Brad was potentially hurt and were relieved to see that Brad had just accrued minor injuries compared to what he could have had. The possessed helm had more than protected his head from any damage.
"That was the skill shield deflection. It's hard to learn because it's a battle technique that not many people can grasp right away. I saw another professor teaching the third years the skill. It's usually learned by those that specialize on defense." Ralph had seen the skill and he understood how dangerous it was to learn.
But it also brought with it a great respect for anyone that had ever used a shield.
"Maybe Brad holds more secrets than we knew. We have to ask him about it when he wakes up. Until then… Isa, can we trust Grace with everything? Ralph, do you think I can trust Reese with everything?" It was early to ask this of Ralph, but Clark believed that Ralph was an open book, a true man of his word.
"Yes, Reese is pretty straight forward. A little weird since he wanted to be precise with swords and stuff, but a good guy."
"Isa?"
"Grace has a lot to learn. But she already figured it out from what I can gather. She won't cause any problems if she can catch up to us. I would hate to face her in a fight when her beast has grown."
"Then that leaves this thing here to deal with. The one untrustworthy one." Clark looked down at Jerold who was pinned to the ground by Crim. The rainbow chameleon was frozen in place nearby for fear that its tamer was about to be killed before its eyes.
