Spirit Taming

Chapter 256: Returning To Camp

Chapter 256: Returning To Camp

Running proved to be the very best method. The dark imps were all in hiding. Some of them had been half starved to death while the others were clearly hungry for anything they could get their hands on in their territory. They had hatred for the mutated dark imp that had become a glutton. The problems it had caused them were too great. Now they would fight over the position of strongest yet again.

Seeing the two masked figures run from the tunnel, the three teams of tamers outside burst in to laughter. They thought that the foolish pair had been scared off by the dark imps in the dark. Something that weak tamers would be scared by.

However, when the sounds of scraping claws began to approach the exit of the dungeon, they all scrambled for their weapons. It was still too early in the morning for the sun to rise and help them. The dungeon had become too active. It had become chaotic.

It was not quite a dungeon break but it was damn close to one. This was something caused by the two strangers they had let in to their hunting ground. Yet, the teams were not angry. They had feared that they would not be able to hunt enough dark imps to make money. Now they were flooded with walking money bags. It was almost a blessing even though there was added danger.

"Are you sure things will be fine just leaving? It won't be an outbreak?" Isa was still worried. She wasn't sure that they would not be implicated if the three teams were unable to handle the dark imps escaping and running wild in the dark imp dungeon.

"They will be alright. They have been there waiting for a while. I bet they thought that the dungeon was hunted to nothing or something. But they just didn't know how to get down the second floor. Plus, now that we ran out in a rush they won't care about us returning their map or sharing materials." Clark seemed like he had thought much further than what Isa imagined.

She would have hit him if she realized he just remembered that they had even given them a map in the first palace.

"We can sell the map for the dungeon too. We might be the only ones that have the most up to date information about it. We can also sell the information for the mutated gluttonous dark imp too. It might make a few researchers pay some good gold coins for it." The greed of a merchant was strong and Clark didn't want to add fuel to the fire.

Instead, he steered Isa toward the camp so that they could change and rest a little before the sun rose.

Professor Wright gave them a look as soon as they had walked in to camp. The way she was watching them said that she wanted to hear how they did. But when her nose scrunched up, Clark knew that they were going right to the nearest stream to clean themselves up first. If not, then they would be waking anyone sleeping much earlier with their smell.

It was a quick event to get cleaned up after Clark referenced the nearby landmarks on the map that Professor Wright had provided them with. But it was enough time alone for him to let the system roll the gacha tickets he had.

'Healing potion…

Healing water….

Large shadow crystal…

Mermaid Hair Bow- rare

The mermaid hair bow is a unique bow made with the hair of a mermaid. This added material allows the bow to harness water energy. Therefore, the bow can shoot arrows through the water the same as air. It also helps the user fire straight during rain or storms.

Dragon tear- rare

The dragon tear is a tear that has fallen from a mother dragon after losing its child. This is a single droplet that contains dragon energy. It is a harsh reminder that even the greatest of beasts can lose their offspring but also a material used to strengthen young dragons so that they will not perish too young.'

"Hmm, the bow will be perfect for Maria. She could use it during the next battle. If she happens to go against a beast that has water energies it will help too. But even if we fight in the arena, it might rain or snow. This can help a lot." Clark knew that the weather was up to nature. No one would force the environment in the arena to be perfect.

Dungeons and the wilderness were not perfect either. How could the tournament conditions be perfect?

The thing that stood out to Clark the most was the new material, dragon's tear. It was a sad material because it was created when a mother lost its offspring. But it was something invaluable to Crim's growth. It might not contain immense energy that would help him grow by leaps and bounds.

However, it contained a decent amount of energy that would help Crim remain strong and on the path to becoming even more powerful.

Sometimes, when Clark looked at Crim, he forgot that Crim was a slime. The dragon aspects that Crim had absorbed and replicated seemed more and more clear. It hid the fact that Crim was a slime and made it appear that Crim was a real dragon.

This would only work to Clark's advantage. Those in the north would not have the knowledge that Clark possessed a rare beast such as a dragon slime. Instead, they would try and fight Crim as if he was just a young dragon. Therefore, when Crim was injured and repaired his body at a spectacular rate because he was made of slime, it would shock and give Clark an easy win.

But, Clark couldn't spend all night thinking about this. Before having everyone return to the eden's end taming space, he let Shy take the large shadow crystal. He would worry about the materials that he and Isa gathered after she had organized things with Ella. he had also given her the map to handle for when they made it to the northern city.

It was only a short nap after that but he was woken up by Maria as soon as the sun had risen. She had already found out about the nightly adventure with Isa and she was ready for what Clark had to say.

"Yes, we went to the dark imp dungeon and found a weird mutated imp. We gained materials that can be made in to a few things for Shy. I also managed to find a bow that you might like." This was a good way to hide the origin of the mermaid hair bow along with a way to appeas Maria. "I didn't want you to know that I had left so I made sure that as an apology I brought you something good back.

I thought it would be a water crystal or a spirit gem or something but… It's called the mermaid hair bow."

Maria's eyes shown like gems when she saw the bow but she quickly composed herself. "You are not just running off at any time without the whole group. Ella is already working on materials before we leave with Isa but she is angry. She could have gained a lot of knowledge about a mutated beast. You deprived her of that." Maria made sure that Clark understood these downsides.

He hadn't thought of how valuable something like that would be to Ella as a researcher.

The others didn't seem to mind much. Jerold, Reese, Grace, and Brad were too new to the group. They didn't have the same attachment to Clark as the other. Ralph only saw it as an unfair training to remain ahead of him. It was further encouragement for Ralph to train and surpass Clark. Overall, it was actually a good thing in that respect.

After being pulled away from the others, Professor Wright made Clark and Isa explain every single detail of what had happened. She seemed to know about the current situation happening around the dark imp dungeon. It made the pair realize that she had another beast that had to have been watching and waiting for them.

The difference between them and someone at professor Wright's level was still like an endless chasm. She had more beasts that they didn't know about that could even help her know what was happening from far away. It was scary but encouraging all at the same time.

"I won't say it's a sign or anything but mutated beasts seem more common than usual. I do not know why but remain alert. I will not always be there to watch over you." This last warning was said yet again to everyone before they packed up camp. No one refuted that they would take extra care. It only made sense.

"We will travel to the black iron mine dungeon. That is where you wished to stop to help Brad with his beast's growth and opening a taming space. Correct? I look forward to it." Professor wright had not forgotten what Clark had promised he could do for Brad on their way to the north.
