Chapter 244: Small Worries

Chapter 244: Small Worries

Hours passed them by while everyone trained in their own way. Multiple plans were written up for Doc to sell and publish for the group. It was a culmination of what Clark had helped the group make and what Ella had worked on.

None of the things that would be published could be considered small. Even the minute differences in growth plans for common beasts that Clark had seen would be enough to make someone shout out in surprise.

For example, Clark had spent a solid ten minutes just explaining how he had seen a verdant rabbit he had seen one of the research students grooming. It was a very simple beast that looked like a common rabbit. However, it grew grass and moss all over its body instead of fur. It had a very strong earth and water typing.

The verdant rabbit normally became a floral rabbit mother or a prairie rabbit which was the male version of the species. These were often considered the final growth of both of the male and female side of the species. However, some reports of the verdant rabbit becoming a complete fusion of the earth and water typing to become a plant type beast, the forest rabbit, was known.

But the how was always up for debate.

Clark had broken down that it was the seeds planted on the rabbit's body that determined this. If it was grass and other shrubbery, then it would grow normally. Yet, if the verdant rabbit had certain tree seeds planted on it, then it would grow in to a forest rabbit. The reason this was a big deal was that the forest rabbit could be used to map out dangerous forests.

The simple reason being that they had an innate sense of how trees grew. They could send images of the forest's twists and turns to their tamer mentally.

When it came to a dungeon with a forest, the forest rabbits were considered a necessity for mapping it. Especially since some forest dungeons would have very complicated growth. Some areas humans wouldn't even be able to consider climbing in due to the size and shape. It was also how multiple forest rabbits could monitor the growth of a dungeon or forest in general over time.

They could note the different changes in the forests that could cause danger or signal beasts moving in.

While this growth plan change was small, it had doubled the value that someone would pay for it. This was even more drastic when it came to the rarer beasts that Clark had seen. With Maria, Ella, and Isa working on materials, diagrams, and clear writing, the plans were completed with expert level of detail.

The further addition of Doc's editing made them perfect for the richest and the poorest to purchase alike. They would all be able to understand it without any worry when it came to the ability to receive an education.

By the time the group and their new tournament teammates were exhausted, they all decided to rest in the lab. It was very large but not really intended for sleep. But, it wouldn't be unusual for them to sleep in the lab. Many research students fell asleep in their work areas because of their dedication. This was just another day for a lab.

"Thank you for your help." Grace was the one that came up to Clark when he finished his meditation. He had gone much later than everyone else while trying to meditate while moving.

"It's no problem. We need to win this tournament and get more allies. With a strong team then it will be easier. Plus, it's not fair that someone would be beaten down because of their unique beast. I am sure that if you were not kept from resources that you would be able to improve as well. The same can be said for Jerold." This was what Clark truly believed.

The system had given him a lot. The ability to draw amazing rewards, even at random, was a blessing. But the analysis ability was spectacular. He was able to see things that no book had. Things that could change someone's life. Things that were literally altering how people raised their beasts.

"But if we hadn't been thrown in to this tournament we would not have had this chance…:" Grace felt that she had other things that also stood out when it came to this situation. Clark could have just told them what to do and how to act. They could have just been meat shields to slow down opponents in the team matches. "Can I ask about what my whined whistler felt in the air?"

"Just keep that a secret for me. Take it as payment for helping with your growth plan. When your wind whistler forms its body, you can ask again. Maybe we will have deeper trust too." Clark was not about to reveal Devi to someone he had just met. He also knew that he had earned a lot of respect from Grace and the other three. But that wasn't enough.

He needed to see who they truly were when the worst seemed to happen.

The reason that Clark had begun to trust and gave Ralph more information was because he had seen Ralph's progress. It wasn't some trick of materials or usage of someone else's power. Ralph had grown stronger with true determination. The work that Ralph put in was honest which struck a chord with Clark. It was something to respect.

But also because Ralph was willing to throw his pride aside to save his partner. To take on all the pain for something he truly cared for. People like that could be trusted.

"I understand, when my partner emerges I will show you just what we can do." Grace had a healthier glow on her face now that she was helping her beast grow stronger. The same was able to be said for Jerold who had finally started to show signs of rosy cheeks on his face. He had been meditating for only three hours but the difference in his and his chameleons' energy was drastic.

"You should rest. Tomorrow we will increase the energy around your beast. That box traps the energy so your beast can more easily create a body. But once it has a base started, it will need a lot more energy. You will also have a drastic change in physique because your body will finally begin to be tempered by your beast's energy. You will also need to prepare a weapon to attack within the arena.

I won't be seeing you fight with just your beast. We will have a decent time to train as we travel."

"About that." Grace had also come up to speak with Clark about the traveling. She had some worried. "I was told that we were traveling in our groups with a single professor as a guide. We might get attacked by others…" Clark understood the worry. Grace had every right to be afraid since the upper classmen had caused her to be dragged in to this tournament by attacking two students.

"We will handle that. We have some friends in the upper classes along with a few people that will be able to help us out. Not to mention, professor Wright is most likely going to force herself in to the chaperone position. She definitely won't let that pass." Clark knew that professor Wright would be furious that three first years had been attacked. Especially since one was Ralph, her student.

She would certainly become the one that would guide them to the Northern city.

"That's good to know." Clark could still see that there was a lot of worry on Grace's face. She was going to be completely alone without any of the skills or power that her beast shared with her. She would be totally weak compared to anyone else. Even more so than she was with her beast without resources.

"Get some rest. You should feel a lot of difference after some good sleep. I will be working with a few small things here and there. I have a feeling we will have a guest some time soon." Clark knew that someone would come looking for them eventually.

There was a high chance that it would be a professor under the Mourne family's power, professor Wright, or the headmaster himself to tell them they are leaving for the north. It would not be a surprise to hear that they were leaving earlier to go to the north.

Grace nodded softly and headed off toward one of the cots set up in the corner of the room. While she did so, Ralph's eyes fluttered open and a small groan escaped as he pushed himself to sit up. It had been a few hours but Clark was surprised nonetheless. Ralph should have slept for much longer after going through the pain he had been through as his boar changed form forcefully to evolve.

If he was awake right now it could be something very wrong or something very good. It would just take a conversation to figure it out.
