Spirit Taming

Chapter 228: Stone Doors

Chapter 228: Stone Doors

The sounds of angry screeching and stones being thrown around were clearly from the angry stone imps that had gained their courage but found that Clark, Devi, and Crim were missing. Clark, on the other hand, was very glad to have stepped in to the shadow of the church. The small imps were going to outnumber him causing a very tough battle that he most likely would not win.

"These stupid things would have been the end of us if we had let them." Clark was very glad that Devi and Crim were with him. He had thought for most of his life that he would never have a spirit beast or another beast. But now he had the comfort of knowing he was not alone.

The church of living stone is not what it seems. Find the four hidden scriptures that the living stone cultists misinterpreted. These are the most valuable treasures hidden away within this dungeon.

Requirements- find the four hidden scriptures of living stone 0/4

Reward- the location of the fifth scripture, five gotcha draws'

"Why is this getting more and more complicated…" The feeling that was building was one of unease. Clark could feel that this system was pushing him to do things that were more and more challenging. However, the system had also hinted at something important.

This dungeon had five scriptures hidden away. Five that were made by some being somehow and interpreted poorly by the cultists. That meant that the information hidden within them was something important about the dungeons or the beasts within. Something that would be exceedingly important for Alexander. Especially since Alexander most likely did not know about them.

"If Alexander doesn't know about the scriptures, then that means they are hidden well. Or they are guarded by powerful beasts." Part of Clark wanted to just believe that the beasts here were too powerful for Alexander. It would be easier to think that Alexander didn't simply miss something valuable. However, Alexander was a powerful tamer that had many stories about him out in the world.

He definitely would clear any super powerful beasts from this dungeon.

"This could also be counted as a major breakthrough for research!" The realization hit Clark out of nowhere. If he was able to gather these scriptures and take them back, he would be able to put them together. After that, his team could easily publish a major set of growth plans and information about the beasts in the living stone dungeon.

The best part was that Alexander would have a hard time saying no after being able to be the first one to use the new information.

"Alright, let's head up those stairs," the stairs that headed to the main door of the cathedral were the only ones that Clark had seen. The stone village had lacked them while it had also lacked doors.

Once halfway up the stairs, Clark noticed that the large door of the church was made of stone as well. The stone appeared to be thin but there was certainly power within it. "Those are magic symbols carved in to the art. This might be tougher than expected." Clark was considering the options when it came to opening this large set of doors, however, Crim had begun to growl.

Wielding the spear, Clark caught the slow movement of a beast lowering itself from the top of the door. It was much larger and had a deeper brown color on its skin. There was a strong earth energy emanating from it as it looked at Clark and placed a sharp clawed hand on the door.

The door began to light up with earth energy making it stronger before the gargoyle stepped back and watched Clark carefully with dead eyes.

' Earth gargoyle- Ultra Rare

This is a beast that has perfectly melded with the energy that it has absorbed to become unique. It was raised well with harsh training to become more powerful than any other gargoyle that would be in the wild.

It is currently stuck on the cusp of becoming a pure earth gargoyle but it can not absorb any further earth energy at its current strength. If it is able to overcome the barrier that it naturally has, then it may become the first pure earth gargoyle in the last seventy five years.

Earth type gargoyles exceed in defensive strength along with using earth energy to reinforce their bodies. They can also use the earth energy to strengthen other objects such as stones, rocks, and even their tamer. The best…'

From what Clark could see, the gargoyle was not there to attack him but to make the door tougher to break in to. "I should take it that you are one of Alexander's partners. It is nice to finally meet you, I am Clark. This is Devi and Crim. They are my partners. Now, watch me break in to that door."

Devi and Crim felt Clark's determination flare up. As he prepared to attack with his spear, they received his mental orders. Devi flew through the air and used his teeth to pierce small holes in the layer of earth that had covered the stone. The chilling bite was slowly sapping away at the energy that the earth gargoyle had used to reinforce the stone door.

"Wait…waiiitt…..waiit…Now!" Clark gave Crim the go ahead to attack the door with his claws over and over. The same spot was hammered with claw marks due to the weakening energy that the door had. Debi was still sapping away at the door's strength and Crim easily sheared off pieces of earth revealing the glowing stone underneath it.

"Back up!" Clark used the ghostly steps to push himself as fast as he could forward. The black lightning spear was aimed right at the space that crim had attacked. The full powered falling moon pierce was supplemented by the speed and full weight of Clark. Crim even jumped ahead to push Clark forward at the last moment as well.

The shark cracking sound was one that anyone climbing a mountain would fear. It was the sound of cracking and fallkingstone. The sound that normally spelled death for any rock climber or adventurer. Yet it brought glee to Clark and his partners. They had used their teamwork to slap aside the challenge given by Alexander.

In response, the earth gargoyle roared an angry yet approving screech toward the three before walking away from the church and down the steps. "That was Alexander's first challenge. I am willing to bet his other beasts are inside. The other three gargoyles." Clark knew well that Alexander possessed four gargoyles. Four elemental gargoyles that had made him incredibly powerful in the world of battle.

"Devi, what are you doing? You already helped break the stone. Even some of the door frame fell down-" Clark froze as he saw a scroll being pulled from the broken door frame. The stones around it were a slightly different color than the rest of the door.

'Scripture of stone imps- ???

This is the scripture of stone imps. The information within is unknown to many of the current generation. The rarity of this item is unique and can not be cataloged. It is a one of a kind item that is part of a set of four and one additional.'

' collected 1/4 scriptures'

"Good work spotting this Devi. you have sharp eyes.' Clark knew that Devi didn't truly have eyes. The small flames that burned within the dark holes that Clark always assumed to be eyes were all that were there. Yet as Clark complimented Devi, the small flames burned brighter and a sinister laugh that Clark knew as happy, escaped Devi's mouth.

Crim, be prepared to attack. I know that Alexander would not just give us puzzles like a tough door to break. It may have taken a decent amount of our energy but we need to save it for whatever is inside." Clark's warning was understandable. He had used the full force of his body on the spear to break the door. It had left some bruises on him, these would affect his battle later for sure.

The inside of the church was filled with their sudden footsteps. It was a large interior that Clark could barely take in with one glance. He had to force himself to close his mouth after looking at the grand scene that had opened itself to him. Even Crim and Devi found themselves in awe at the incredible design.
