Chapter 200: Lack Of Knowledge
Chapter 200: Lack Of Knowledge
"Excuse me.." Clark was having a lot of trouble getting the attention of a merchant at a large stall. The merchant was selling things like a man in the midst of madness. Every single time a prominent looking figure walked up, he was on them like a predator finding their favorite prey. But Clark was being ignored.
"If this is how it's going to be," Clark gritted his teeth and showed off the gargoyle symbol on his uniform more. He was sure that the merchant would know exactly what such a symbol meant. "I planned to purchase items from this stall but this low class merchant has no time for me. A disappointment indeed."
Clark's haughty voice rang out the same was that some of the Cain family members spoke. To be honest, it made him feel slightly sick. However, the way that it worked was too well. Many turned their heads hearing him while the merchant instantly ended his deal with the person he was speaking to.
"Ah! Sir, I am but one small man, I apologize for my ineptitude. You appear to be a highly sought after student in the academy. I have never seen your symbol on another student but for the rumored Clara Mane. You must be the young apprentice of Sir Alexander." The merchant was well versed as they should be to make more money with the richer people in the city.
"You have that correct. But for your insult, I desire a discount on my choice of goods. I haven't seen much worth buying yet though. Those Cathedral glass marbles are the only things I might bother with." Clark had spotted the marbles glinting in the sun. He knew they might be interesting and took a chance to check them.
'Cathedral glass marbles- uncommon
These marbles were formed when a multi colored cathedral glass broke during the spiritual breakthrough of a healing type beast. This caused them to change form and gather some high spiritual energy. That also helped them become an ideal material for increasing the strength and potential of a beast with healing skills. It will assist them in energy storage to prepare for a growth period.'
While the marbles were not the best possible materials, they had the additional benefit of helping in energy storage. This meant that if Lit were to absorb them, she would be able to more easily break through to become a queen jellyfish later. It would be well worth it.
"These marbles sir? They are but a low class item. Let me take something else out for you. I have plenty of stock that I will rotate out over the day." The merchant had begun to sweat under Clark's harsh glare.
It wasn't that Clark purposefully intimidated the merchant, but when Clark saw the reactions, he knew that the merchant had become fearful. Someone with Clark's status as a genius student with a powerful figure as a mentor would be able to stop many people from buying at his stall. There was also the potential that Clark could whisper to the senior of his; Clara Mane. That would be even worse.
"What do you think of these? Before the dungeon break and dangers of beasts near Star city, I was able to go to the flooded cave dungeon and buy some twisted coral." The merchant pulled out small pieces of pink coral. The pink coral was a very striking material that was very well set against any other materials. Clark had also already heard of this material.
"I see, a very good water elemental material with unique water energies concentrated as it grows in the depths of the dungeon. I will purchase this because it is a rare and high quality material along with the cathedral glass marbles. Lastly, I will take that set of crystal needles. They could be useful for my studies." Clark had also spotted the crystal needles.
"Are you sure about the crystal needles? They are just some crafting materials. They can be used to craft with tougher fabrics from earth type beasts?."
"Are you questioning what I desire to purchase from you? What merchant is so brazen!? " Clark's reaction pushed the merchant over the edge. In a slew of apologies and nice words, the merchant wrapped everything up and took a majorly discounted price. He began to even slow down as he looked at the other potential customers. He could not make such mistakes again.
"Crystal needles- common
The crystal needles are made to help craft certain items of the earth elemental typing. The unique portion of these specific needles is that they came from an elder crystal guardian. This makes them the ideal material for any young crystal golem to absorb. Most people would not see the potential use as a material. Therefore, the ranking of this material could be considered rare.'
The happy stride of Clark as he left the merchant continued since he was looking at the system notification.
'Quest- find the hidden gems- completed
Requirement- Find ten unique materials related to the beasts of your team's beasts.
Reward- Unique material for the little spirit's growth, one large pure shadow crystal, and five baby dragon teeth.
The host has received a pure shadow crystal to his raming space. The host has received five baby dragon teeth to his storage. The host has received the reaper skull within his taming space. The host may allow his beasts to consume them if he desires.'
The system seemed to be saying more than usual. Normally, even with the improved intelligence, the system was silent but for when he used it to analyze things. That was why he was able to find the crystal needles. The system had seen the hidden value in them.
The taming space was becoming a part of Clark. It was an extension of his soul so he could feel the items appear floating in the skies of the edens end taming space. Without hesitation, he sent the pure shadow gem to the egg and the baby dragon teeth to Crim. he already knew what they would do for those two beasts. But he had to look at the reaper's skull.
For the moment, Clark had expected to follow the basic path of mythical evolution for Devi. to make him a ghost lord or ghost king. He would remain mythical and be the most powerful beast on the continent, let alone the city. However, Clark's plans may have changed due to his previous decisions without him realizing it.
'Reaper's skull- Mythical
This is the skull of a fallen grim reaper. A beast that is full of pure death energy. This item can help a beast with ghost typing to form an interchangeable physical shell that hosts pure death energy. They will not be considered an undead but a being that wields a true law of existence; death.
Normal undead reapers are nothing in comparison to the great being a grim reaper is. Following the shdponkjh dkwornhd ajdienf law of existence thel dcjhe sjksjnf host is skdfbisn run throu…'
"It became broken gibberish. How is there so much that can't be understood? Even the system is overwhelmed? Is this because of the energy inside being related to a law of existence?" Clark felt that there was too much unknown information. He had to research more. The system gave him many things that he needed on the growth paths he was taking for his beasts.
That was clear. So he trusted that this reaper's skull would be perfect for Devi.
The only issue was that Clark needed to understand the laws of existence more. He needed some basic knowledge before he did anything. "Devi, I have an item for you but we need to wait a little while." Clark whispered this through his mind to Devi. The two could understand the dangers of proceeding at the moment and would wait to research more.
"Hey! Clark! Over here!" Isa managed to catch Clark walking past in a daze. She recognized the deep thinking and was able to claim his attention before he wandered past the small spot they had set up.
Maria, Ella, and Isa had managed to bring out a small podium for beasts to stand on. They brought some of the small materials and tools from the labs. It was the perfect merchant version of a beast evaluation platform.
"Oh, sorry. I was lost in thought. I found some really good things for everyone. I know I was supposed to find things for beasts we evaluate but these will be better for us. I want our team to be stronger than any other." His proclamation made the three girls go silent. They hadn't expected him to be so honest.
"Then you should show off what you found! You have the best eyes out of the four of us." Maria was the first to recover. She instantly laid down a white sheet so that Calrk could place materials on it and help them understand the value of what he had found.
