Chapter 148: Star Academy Plans
Chapter 148: Star Academy Plans
"Finally back!" Isa fell on to the bed happy with what had happened. She knew that the spatial ring had plenty of things for them to use for their business. Not to mention some unique materials that they will be able to use for their own beasts.
"I believe it will be good for us to have such a high class client." Ella was still thinking about what beasts could be kept by the bodyguards. It would be good research to record in her journal.
"I did it because I wanted to be sure that we can snatch up a big commission. The mayor had enough gold to spend on a rare material for some reason. I don't know why but we might get to see a rare beast." Clark was thinking of what else the could gain other than business credibility.
"So you think he has a very rare beast that we could see? How would that help?" Maria was still blind to the fact that Calrk was researching beasts constantly. His eyes had never stopped looking since he was in Star City. the number of beasts had greatly raised on his quest. He was closer than ever to getting the proper bestiary skill.
However, Clark had again hit a limit. The common beasts were all the same. He had to see more beasts that were unique. And a rare beast that was kept by the mayor would do the trick. Not to mention the multiple beasts that his guards had.
"Since we will be there in the night, do you think we will have time after?" Maria wanted to take time to go see the city a little more. They were planning to go to the Star Academy to see things since they were invited. That would take their entire day.
"I doubt it. We will probably end up there all night and maybe even in to the morning. The mayor has to have a lot of guards. It means good profit though." Isa was already seeing the gold coins flow back in to their hands. She hated losing so many but knew the pay off would be major when they returned to Nova academy.
"So Devi, have anything to say about your little journey today?" Clark had been proud of Devi but he was also a little angry. It was a big risk to go and do such a thing.
"He did help us." Maria felt that it was a lot safer now that the two Cain family members had been banned from the city.
"Yes, I am not unhappy about that. But what I am unhappy with is that he did it alone. He risked himself in a place with a lot of guards that could have been able to get him. You didn't know what beasts they had that might be able to see you." Clark's tone was harsh. He had never really had to be hard on Devi. But this was a rare moment.
The response was a low floating Devi that knew he had moved without Clark's prior approval. He had done more than just fly away. He had let Devi cause dangerous trouble. "But I know that I should have been more communicative too. I should have spoken with you more and paid better attention to what I said and did." Clark knew some of this was his fault.
He didn't really set a good example by taking care of things himself. They were too similar.
The feeling between them was much more than Clark had expected. Devi understood and so did he. The bond they had was still growing and changing. Especially since Devi was absorbing more energy every time he had the chance.
Looking even closer, Clark noticed that Devi had become different. The white color of his body had become denser. The darkness behind his jagged teeth was deeper and had a different aura emanating from it. What was even more eye catching was the blue soul flames that had erupted where his eyes were. They made it seem like he could see every single strand of energy in the air.
"You get stronger every day." Clark put a single hand on Devi's head. The chill that would normally be terrifying to anyone else felt calm and true to Clark. It was a unique bond only the two of them could have. "And you three, let's get some rest." Clark fell in to his bed and was asleep faster than ever. It was a good day of work.
By the morning, Clark felt that Crim and Devi were looking forward to getting out. Devi had spent the night understanding his own power. Clark had even meditated with him in the morning making Devi feel full of energy. Crim had been focusing on a lot lately. His body had grown and his energy had risen exponentially. With the items he had consumed thus far, he was in a growth state.
Growth states for any beast or dragon were miraculous. They would lead to a very malleable state of growth for a very short time. Every species, even humans, had some form of growth spurt. Clark couldn't have guessed such a thing was so common.
"So we have to challenge a few students from Star academy to a duel?" Clark had suggested this once they had finished eating breakfast. Isa wanted to focus on sales plans first so thought that it might be an easy goal to add in.
"I like it. I need to train more with Lit so I can be in shape. I want to work on triple shot for archery. I have been able to fire two arrows at once for some time." Maria had her own personal goals. As did Clark, but her ideas seemed pretty skillful.
"Then I should work on molding my skills together. Ghostly steps and Crim's dodging form. I think I should make the draconic ghost steps. Or maybe the ghost dragon steps….? No? The soul dragon steps?
Death dragon steps?"
"Any name would be worth researching. Talents learned by you and Devi are new to any tamer today. Ghost type beasts are considered myths." Ella made a good point but was sure that she would do so regardless of what he planned to do.
"I guess you have a little bit of growing to still do." Isa teased Clark because he was so hung up on the names of his skills he hadn't even made yet. However, Clark just ignored her. He enjoyed thinking about these things as a way to relax a little before he had to be serious.
"We are going to be late to the academy. We need to see all that we can!" Maria pushed them to keep moving instead of talking in one spot. It was a good thing too because when they finally made it to Star academy gates, they found that everyone had similar ideas. Even Doc was waiting out front.
"Last but not least. Everyone is here that is allowed to be here. I am glad everyone saved the best for their last location because it allowed me to set up a lecture. I will be speaking here while you all explore. I recommend that you come and witness something interesting." Doc was proud to see all his students came. Minus the disappointed look he had for the two missing Cain family members.
But he guided them all within the gates.
"And you are going to give yourself the tour here? I hate how you just start walking around like that. Ever since you were a kid too!" The domineering tone of voice came from a fairly tall woman carrying a bundle of papers.
"And for everyone here wondering who this is, this is my older sister. She is the current head of research at Star academy." Doc had a small smile but clearly was avoiding letting his family take the lead.
"You can call me Doc. J. My brother and I went our own ways but students are students and we both teach. Even though our theories may differ. Now follow me." This was a clear sibling rivalry.
"So Doc has a sister that went to another academy. That means the competitions will be even more dramatic." Maria felt this was a fun plot twist in life. The other students didn't seem to feel much about it. Clark did humor Maria though since she was so excited.
"This is Star academy. We have developed a more open campus with guards that enforce the rules and the laws of the city. It is different from the more secluded Nova academy. However, it allows for higher research potential. Especially since we get special deals for materials and recently found beasts.
You are all welcome to explore or have tours from students outside my office." They were glad to hear they would still have freedom.
"Now, my little brother and I have to prepare for a joint lecture. I hope to see all of you since we will display the growth of a beast in stages. His theories and mine happened to work in tandem." This interested all of them greatly. No one knew that Doc had worked on a family theory to create a growth plan.
