Chapter 1032 - 1004: Beautiful Woman
Chapter 1032 - 1004: Beautiful Woman
"Wait a minute! Look over there!" Troy’s mind doesn’t operate like the average person; once he makes up his mind, it’s hard to change it. Yelu pointed to a white Lincoln in the distance, the rare color moving like a piece of gold under the rising sun, slowly driving up in front of Mo Luo’s parked car, blocking it from the outside.
The car crushed the gravel beneath it, creating a crunching sound that caught Mo Luo’s attention. His eyes squinted against the dazzling golden light, wondering who would come here at this moment, as he couldn’t figure it out.
The driver hurriedly got out of the car and ran to the rear seat to open the door. A pair of slender legs, snow-white like jade, appeared from inside, the light pink dress clinging lightly to her thighs, the matching high heels stepping down right into a puddle of blood, her brown hair cascading down as she leaned forward to see.
"Seems I’ve guessed something dirty!" The woman’s light and airy voice muttered softly, her eyebrows furrowing, realizing it was almost impossible to find a clean spot to wipe it off. "Young Master Wu, it seems there was just a slaughter here, the scent of blood thick in the air." Her casual remarks were somewhat disjointed.
"Miss, it’s better if I take the lead; coming out like this could be unwise!" The man referred to as Young Master Wu was beside the woman, advising her sternly, his imposing presence suggesting he was not someone to be trifled with.
"Forget it, if you step in, I’ll need to hire a few more lawyers to solve it, haha!" The woman emerged from the car, her tall and shapely figure drawing the wide-eyed stares of two people hidden in the shadows. It was just the right moment. Yet both shared the same question: What was such an elegant woman doing in Sin City? It appeared she was here for Xiao Lin, and both Troy and Yelu exchanged glances, communicating their bewilderment silently.
Mo Luo thought this woman was beautiful, the delicacy of an Oriental complemented by the ravishing beauty of a Westerner, her fair skin flawless. "Miss, please stop, this is a crime scene, and we’re in the middle of capturing suspects; it’s dangerous for you to intrude." Mo Luo called out loudly, hoping his gentlemanly demeanor would attract the woman’s attention.
"Suspect?" Despite disdain for the bloodied puddle dirtying her shoes, the woman stepped deliberately into each grimy pool, her heart reluctant while her actions spoke differently. "Director Mo Luo, I see no criminal here; are you referring to my friend?"
Mo Luo found it odd to hear his name being called so openly, as he couldn’t recall knowing this woman. Such beauty couldn’t easily be forgotten. "Miss, do you know me?"
"I’ve always heard the mayor speak of Director Mo Luo’s great achievements, managing to organize Palermo’s law enforcement impeccably. It’s hard not to remember." Her heels clicked against the ground making a distinct sound. "However, I’m a bit confused; is this gentleman the suspect you’re referring to? Did he cause these deaths?"
"Miss, please stop, if you come any closer..." Even though Mo Luo found this woman stunning, watching her calmly navigate past the bodies made him doubt her intentions, wondering if she might be a terrorist.
"Hello, Director Mo Luo!" The woman was already up close, her delicate voice drew Xiao Lin to turn his head; the familiarity of it was undeniable. The woman was exquisite. "This is my friend, please let him go!"
"What?" Mo Luo shrieked. "Miss, you’re saying this gentleman is your friend?"
"Is there a problem? If you don’t let him go, we might miss the mayor’s celebration banquet." The woman chuckled at the astonished Xiao Lin, who managed a suave air under any circumstance.
"Miss, do you know who he is? He’s been behind some recent series of terror incidents in Palermo; you’d best avoid associating with him."
"Director Mo Luo, are you saying Xiao Lin is the mastermind behind these terror incidents?" The woman burst into laughter as if she’d heard something hilarious, her body shaking with her laughter, a hand covering her mouth, eyes sparkling. "He’s my fiancé!"
"Ah!" Xiao Lin was somewhat at a loss. "Hey, do you have the wrong person?" Xiao Lin spoke up before Mo Luo could respond, his left hand twisted behind his back, his face covered in blood, reeking of violence and gore.
"Is your name Xiao Lin?" The girl’s smile grew even brighter.
"That’s correct!"
"Then there’s no mistake. I’m Murong Lengyue, your fiancée!"
"Wait a moment, what did you say your name was?" Mo Luo pointed incredulously at the woman, forgetting his own task, loosening his grip allowing Xiao Lin to leap away.
"Director Mo Luo, interrupting others like this is quite impolite, it seems the mayor exaggerated." Murong Lengyue snorted coldly, as her hand tightened around Xiao Lin’s arm. "Can you let my fiancé go now? What crime has he committed for you to arrest him? Are there criminals in our Murong Family?"
"Well..." Mo Luo hissed twice, then rubbed his hands with a dry laugh. "Even though Xiao Lin is your friend, in front of the facts, as a director, I can’t really give you face."
"So does Director Mo Luo have evidence proving Xiao Lin is a murderer?"
"Well, but there’s no evidence proving he’s not, right!" Mo Luo smartened up, while Murong Lengyue blinked, her misty eyes feebly staring at Mo Luo.
"Alright, what Director Mo Luo said isn’t wrong, so why don’t you arrest me as well! Since everyone at this crime scene could be a suspect, I should be too!"
Mo Luo suddenly wanted to wail; did this unreasonable argument really come from the mouth of the Sect Leader of the Murong Family? "Miss Murong, don’t make things difficult for me. How could you possibly be the murderer, especially since you just arrived after the incident?"
"According to Director Mo Luo’s theory, it’s possible I could be the murderer too, right? Moreover, the murderer doesn’t need to be present, could have hired the killing or framed someone. If that’s the case, Director Mo Luo, you could also be one."
"Wow, this woman has quite the eloquence!" Troy couldn’t help but exclaim secretly. "Your boss really has a good fortune, to be able to handle this woman! No wonder you said nothing would happen; with the Murong Family backing him, who dares to say a word? They wouldn’t want to survive in the business world."
"I think the one who doesn’t need the survival is the boss!" Yelu whispered to himself, pondering about this suddenly emerged fiancée. Tsk, tsk, tsk! Troy turned to look at the leader of the Dark Realm, his expression seemed to relish in schadenfreude. "Let’s go, there’s nothing for us here!"
"Director Mo Luo? Director Mo Luo!" Murong Lengyue called out twice, seeing Mo Luo lost in thought, she even tightened her grip on Xiao Lin’s hand.
"Let go of me first!" Xiao Lin withdrew his arm, the disdain on his face was evident.
"I think this guy isn’t as shy as you say."
"He’s just shy!" Murong Lengyue once again clung to Xiao Lin’s arm. "Heading to the police station, right? So, Director Mo Luo, lead the way!"
Mo Luo snorted coldly, already seated in the police car, Xiao Lin was dragged onto the car by Murong Lengyue. He sat expressionlessly beside her, contemplating how Murong Lengyue appeared here. Wasn’t she supposed to be in the United States? And since they were in the police car, he didn’t speak up directly; the distance with the shadow behind kept increasing, out from the crack came a few people, committing a critical mistake for Mo Luo.
The mayor of Palermo was a nearly fifty-year-old man, tall, slightly stout, with a beer belly, yet he appeared very congenial, a gentleman with a bald-headed head, shaved down to the roots. Whether special materials were used is unknown, making the formerly dense black head appear smooth and cute.
Mo Luo stood there, nervously rubbing his hands, the mayor, supposed to be at the celebration, burst in with a fury as soon as they stepped into the police station.
"Mo Luo, you’ve done a great job!" Murong Lengyue sat unconcernedly to the side, one hand playing with the handcuffs on Xiao Lin. From the start, he seemed to have no desire to speak, conscious that maybe his actions hurt his dignity, but this was all they could do for now.
"Mayor, don’t blame Director Mo Luo, he’s just doing his job. As long as things are clarified, cooperating with the police in investigations as citizens is normal." Murong Lengyue’s casualness made the mayor even angrier.
"Mo Luo, Mr. Xiao is the heir to the Xiao Family and works for the country. Do you have evidence proving he’s a criminal?" The mayor, perhaps flustered, questioned Mo Luo in the presence of these two, humiliating Mo Luo while giving Murong Lengyue face. Though this situation should be resolved privately, otherwise appeasing gossip until publicized wouldn’t sound right; especially with paparazzi lurking outside, Murong Family members arriving at the police station by police car, such explosive news would make anyone rush for it.
"Mayor, this..." Mo Luo struggled, with mayor’s interference he really couldn’t do anything. "When I arrived at the crime scene, only Mr. Xiao was there, holding a corpse, covered in blood."
