Chapter 1006 975: Slaughter at the Police Station (Part 1)

Twenty-four hours can accomplish many things. As night begins to cloak this land, shadows quickly run in one direction, hiding in the darkness.

The police station's doors are tightly closed; occasionally, a few floors still have lights, just small points of brightness in the darkness. The shadow doesn't pause at the door but instead moves directly to the back. One figure flips inside an open window, while another darts up the five-story building like a gecko.

The surveillance equipment in the hallway seems to have stopped operating; if you look closely, its lens remains pointed in one direction. The figure entering the building easily pushes open the monitoring room door at first opportunity, darting like a ghost behind the person sitting there, drinking coffee and reading the newspaper. Suddenly, the figure strikes hard at the back of the man's neck, causing the coffee to spray onto the table as the shadow supports his heavy body, slowly laying him down.

"Monitoring room, OK!" the shadow reports through the earpiece, eyes observing the scenes on several screens. Pulling up a chair, he sits down comfortably. "Two patrol officers are headed your way, positioned at three o'clock. They'll likely push open the safety door and reach the hallway in about a minute."

As soon as he finishes speaking, the two patrolmen have already fallen to the ground, and the person in the monitoring room just sees a blur as the screen maintains its clean appearance.

"Have you found where Dan Ning is being held?" Soon, an inquiry comes in.

"The place holding the prisoners is on the second floor. You should go directly to the fourth floor, where there's an iron door. If the information is correct, he should be inside." Yelü Shou props his legs up on the table, the person beside him moves slightly, just about to raise his head, and Yelü Shou knocks him out again with a punch. "Shift change for the patrol is in an hour. You should have enough time, barring any unforeseen issues."

Suddenly, a noise erupts through the earpiece. Yelü Shou calls out a few times but hears no response. He frowns, lowers his feet, and starts fiddling with the screens. Only a few are moving, while the others are static—obviously tampered with. He jumps up. "Lin, can you hear me? Answer me!" But the earpiece still offers no reply, so Yelü Shou ties up the nearby fat man and stuffs him under the farthest table, running towards the fourth floor.

The fourth floor! There is a special room, distinct in the otherwise uniform decor. It alone has an iron door, reminiscent of rooms in a mental hospital for holding high-risk patients, evoking thoughts about what might be inside.

The room is in the middle of the floor, so only this iron door provides entry, surrounded on three sides by walls. The person pausing at the door briefly enters the adjacent room, resembling an office. Xiao Lin jumps onto a desk and crawls into the ventilation shaft. He pulls off his wireless earpiece, the device unable to receive any signals likely due to interference. Leaving the communicator in the duct, Xiao Lin discerns the general direction and heads toward the iron-door room.

Someone is in the duct! This is the signal Dan Ning gathers from auditory clues. Uncertain of the person's identity, he shifts slightly, the prolonged sitting causing some aches. Surveillance from three angles focuses solely on him, magnifying even the smallest movement, making for a truly twisted individual.

Dan Ning leans back, and as a shadow jumps down from the vent, he kicks suddenly at the unexpected person. Xiao Lin fails to evade, blocking the attack with an arm, taking a step back to steady himself. "It's me!"

"Xiao Lin?!"

"Time is short; you need to come with me now. Shou might be in danger." Xiao Lin doesn't explain further, pointing to the vent above.

Dan Ning shakes his head. "If I wanted out, I'd have fled long ago."

"What do you mean? You're staying here willingly?"

"I met the mysterious figure you mentioned." Dan Ning pauses. "His name is Shao Weihua, a central dispatch. If I leave with you, the Dan Clan is done for—that's his condition."

"I understand!" At the moment Xiao Lin turns, Dan Ning suddenly strikes his back with a vigorous palm, sending a gust toward Xiao Lin.

With his right hand swinging backward and left hand sweeping the floor, Xiao Lin spins horizontally, landing lightly against the wall behind him. His piercing black eyes seem to penetrate the man before him.

Dan Ning's eyes widen, flipping two tables toward Xiao Lin. The long table flung up rolls and smashes toward Xiao Lin's head, exploding mid-air, debris scattering to the ground. Meanwhile, Xiao Lin moves through the flying dust, his curved fingers gripping Dan Ning's pulse gate, pulling him down with force, pressing his right knee against his sternum.

Dan Ning blocks with a single arm across his chest, stepping forward with his left foot, reversing Xiao Lin's right knee grip, and pushes forward with effort, both crashing into the wall, creating a dent.

"You're not Dan Ning!" Xiao Lin shouts, raising his palms toward Dan Ning again. The latter sneers, leaping up onto the snapped table, pausing before charging forward and somersaulting, claws striking fiercely at Xiao Lin's face, roars as a chair rises simultaneously with his hands aiming at Xiao Lin.

In an attack that should be unavoidable, with flawless moves, Xiao Lin steadies himself, drawing both hands into a beautiful semicircle before him, stepping slightly forward and evading beside the chair's edge. Spin! Kick! Clean and swift motions counter the chair back to Dan Ning!

Crack! Crack! Unable to bear the pressure, the chair suddenly shatters, fragments piercing into Dan Ning!

A muffled grunt sounds as Dan Ning is flung against the opposite wall, blood erupting from his throat. In a blink, Xiao Lin charges with an unwavering right fist clenching like a powerful iron rod, smashing toward Dan Ning who was barely rebounded by the jolt.

Ruthlessly, three fingers dig into his back as bones shatter, piercing deep with a snap! Again, an explosion of sounds echoes, fracturing from the 17th vertebra down to the tailbone!

"You won't die, but you'll suffer greatly!" Xiao Lin sneers coldly. "Speak truthfully now, and I'll let you die quickly! Where's Dan Ning?"

Seemingly in his fury, Xiao Lin forgets a simple truth: with a spine shattered live, who could still speak? (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, feel free to vote for recommendations, monthly tickets on Qidian (qidian.com). Your support is my greatest motivation.)
