Chapter 8 Transformation
Chapter 8 Transformation
In Gu Bai's vision, the afterimage of the winter jasmine that was originally in mid-air disappeared instantly.
When their gazes returned to her, her snow-white hair was already blocking the way for the three-star quasi-magical girls who were frozen in place.
A magical barrier unfolded, and white light gathered in front of her, forming a thin, curved surface.
Accelerate to a stop.
The beast crashed into the 'hard rock,' and several cracks appeared on the smooth surface. Half a second later, spiderweb-like cracks covered the entire barrier, and it shattered into thousands of points of light.
The impact created a gust of air that made Dongchun's school uniform rustle. She took a half step back, her breathing slightly disordered.
The beast adjusted its direction and charged again, its bronze horns aimed at her body.
Gu Bai's eyes sharpened, and a dark aura surged in his palm.
Just then, a dazzling light burst forth from Dongchun's pupils, comparable only to the burning of a ruby.
She accelerated again!
Before the beast's next attack arrived, she managed to take a step back at the last possible moment, narrowly missing the edge of the bronze-colored blade, refusing to embrace death.
The five spheres that had been formed earlier now arranged in an arc behind her, gathering power, humming softly, and gradually illuminating the night with white light.
Dong Chun bit her lip tightly and pushed forward with both hands.
A highly compressed sphere of magic instantly formed in front of her, firmly blocking the massive impact surface of the alien beast, before exploding wildly.
Rumble!!!
The explosion sent up clouds of smoke and dust, and the light illuminated the 047 disaster zone.
The beast's body was mostly pulverized.
As the dust settled, Dongchun stood there, her body swaying slightly, as if something had been drained from her, and even a gust of wind could have blown her over.
She managed to calm herself down as much as possible, turned to the few Samsung girls behind her who were still frozen in place, and said in a calm voice:
"Evacuate now and report that there are three gray-bronze level alien beasts in District 047."
No sooner had she finished speaking than Tao Zhuo, covered in sticky blood, quietly appeared beside her, helped her up, and leaped away to Gu Bai's side.
"How's it going on your end?" Dongchun slowly squatted down.
"I've dealt with one, but we'll leave the other one for now. The residents have already been evacuated, so we'll deal with that one later," Tao Zhuo reassured Dong Chun.
"Quickly..." Upon hearing this, Dongchun could no longer hold on and slowly squatted down on the ground to speak.
"Eh~" Tao Zhuo's expression changed upon hearing this: "You naughty little sister, are you already in such a hurry?!"
"Give it to me, hurry up."
"Alright, alright, you've begged me like this..."
Tao Zhuo took out a test tube filled with white liquid from her storage bag and held it up in front of Dong Chun:
"Ta-da—High-grade mana-restoring liquid, a rare item. I wouldn't be willing to take it out if you didn't always use up all your mana for such a burst of power!"
"Huh, it's a supplement?" Gu Bai said speechlessly, "Can't you say something more coherent?"
"If your heart is not pure, nothing you hear will be pure."
Tao Zhu stuck out her tongue, unscrewed the cap, and slowly poured the Rejuvenating Elixir into Dong Chun's mouth, while simultaneously nudging Gu Bai with her other hand.
"Teacher, you were about to intervene, weren't you? Whew, thank goodness you didn't. Being able to handle this situation alone would be a huge win!"
She glanced down at the bloodstains on her body and sighed.
"I took care of the first one and cleaned up the mess for Winter Sister. I really have no idea what to do about the second one. If I were a five-star, at least I could use an automatic magic barrier to stop it, instead of having to crawl out of the blood pool like this."
Yes, the first beast to appear on the field had already been smashed to pieces by Tao Zhuo, and the source of the foul-smelling liquid on her body was the residue left from the hand-to-hand combat with the beast.
"That was very well done."
Gu Bai understood that this was an unusual situation, and unusually praised Tao Zhuo.
But Tao Zhuo raised her head, paused for a second, looked away, and said nothing more.
There is only one monster left on the field.
As Gu Bai was calculating the timing, an orange figure swept in from the far end of the street.
It's Xia Zhi.
A deep orange stand-up collar fitted short top with crisscrossing leather straps at the chest and cuffs that flare out like blooming orange lilies, revealing the flowing, starry, dark lining with rare orange stars hanging in the sky as embellishment.
The girl's long hair was not tied up, and it swung back with the moving airflow, with five star-shaped streaks extending from her lower eyelids to her ears, shining brightly one by one.
Sober and sharp—that's the first impression she gives.
"Build".
Xia Zhi stopped about ten meters away from the beast, raised her hand, and light began to gather in her palm, quickly forming a miniature model that was the same size as the beast.
It was hexagonal with a rounded outline, about twenty to one scale, and even the bronze luster was there. She held the model in her hand and looked down at it.
Then, the model began to fold between her fingers, the first fold, the second fold, the third fold—
The strange beast in the distance underwent a change that Gu Bai had never seen before.
It was neither broken nor burned; it simply began to be quietly folded in an anti-physical way, edge pressing against edge, shell pressing against shell, becoming smaller and denser.
"Destruction!"
Xia Zhi slammed her hands together.
The strange beast had become a flattened piece of dirty paper.
Gu Bai stared at Xia Zhi's battle scene for a couple more seconds, then looked away and carefully examined Tao Zhuo and Dong Chun again. He finally realized something was wrong.
"By the way, why aren't you wearing combat gear, just your school uniforms?"
Tao Zhuo replied matter-of-factly, "Ha, of course there is."
"Then why don't you wear it?" Gu Bai asked.
"Not to mention that at our level, we can only use the standard models produced by Dawn Creative through the aggregation of big data, not the customized models... although others probably wouldn't notice if we didn't say it out loud."
Tao Zhuo let out a breath and continued, "Besides, there's no settlement yet. Going on TV for promotion and changing clothes during battle also consumes magic power, so every little bit saved counts."
"Transformation."
Having recovered somewhat, Dongchun suddenly spoke calmly.
"Oh?"
Tao Zhuo turned her head and gave her a subtle look, "Winter Sister has actually changed now~"
Dongchun did not answer.
She subtly shifted her gaze towards Gu Bai, then quickly looked away.
White light rose from the toes of Dongchun, spreading upwards like quiet frost and snow, swallowing up all other colors.
As the light faded, the girl had changed into a pure white battle dress that resembled moonlight. The light silver gauze and heavy brocade were interwoven, and the hem of the dress was not simply decorated with patterns, but rather with large patches of camellia flowers that bloomed proudly in the cold winter, embroidered with silver threads.
A few strands of white hair fell across her collar, and Dongchun's red eyes stood out sharply against her all-white attire.
"Tsk, white hair and red eyes really pique my interest. Even my nonexistent phantom limb is getting aroused by Winter's appearance..."
Tao Zhuo glanced to the side halfway through her sentence and swallowed the rest: "It's really troublesome with the teacher around; there are some things I'm too embarrassed to say."
Gu Bai cast a disdainful glance at him.
"Am I the only one who knows that the reason it's called 'Camellia' is because the designer, Qixin, didn't understand that 'Camellia' in Dongmei's name refers to a large camellia tree? Sigh, a bunch of idiots~"
Tao Zhuo tried to change the subject, but Gu Bai's disdainful gaze remained.
Tao Zhuo was furious!
"Okay, okay, but will the teacher still dislike me if they see what I look like after I transform?"
The girl brought her middle and ring fingers together and gently placed them against her lower lip, adopting a lazy tone: "Transform~"
A peach-colored light emanated from the girl's fingertips, appearing more vibrant than the white of the winter jasmine, as if something was dancing within it.
Then, she took two steps back, giving others room to observe her.
Tao Zhuo is dressed in a classic, quintessential magical girl outfit. The layered peach-pink two-tone tutu is held high by a petticoat, and the hem is adorned with intricate ruffles and lace.
A large, exaggerated peach-colored bow was tied at her waist, which was matched by a lace choker with a heart-shaped gemstone around her neck. The edges of the wide, separate puff sleeves clung to her fair arms, which were exposed.
Further down, there was the absolute territory defined by pure white over-the-knee socks and a pair of delicate round-toed leather boots.
Pure, sweet, as if she just stepped out of a children's cartoon.
"How about it? Although it's generated based on big data, it's sufficient if you're not looking for customization."
"It's pretty good." Gu Bai looked at her.
"Anything else?!" Tao Zhuo awaited praise; according to the GalGame, that's how it should be.
"But," Gu Bai paused, "it's a pity you have a mouth."
"No, no, that's not how it is in Ga La Ge Mu Li Tou!"
Tao Zhuo became even angrier!
