Chapter 673: Induction Ceremony
Chapter 673: Induction Ceremony
In the Sanctuary, young candidates scouted by Sylph and others for the Mage Corps were gathering, one after the other.
Laeva, Doganbo-san, Golan-san and I began making the knights’ armor and were able to complete it in several days.
And several days after that, we were able to complete the weapons of the Knight Order and the Mage Corps as well.
The members of Knight Order and the Mage Corps had all assembled at the knights’ training grounds.
The Dwarves of the Earth Spirit Knights, being innately strong, were provided with two types of weaponry, battle axes and war hammers, along with large shields.
The Elves of the Wind Spirit Knights primarily used bows with one handed swords, or vanguards equipped with one handed swords and kite shields, with a few using halberds and a small round shields, which eventually created three branches of units.
The Fire Spirit Knights were the most chaotic bunch.
Plenty of the humans who were from noble origins chose to use a one handed sword and kite shield, but there were also those who carried halberds as their main weapon, while the scouts used daggers and bows.
Many of the commoner humans had taken up the spear. This was likely due to spears being easier for amateurs to handle in combat.
And for the Beastkin, their main weapons were of all sorts based on their race.Catkin, Wolfkin, and Dogkin whose foundation was speed, used daggers and one handed swords.
The sole Bearkin youth in the Sanctuary Knight used a large shield and a massive battle axe.
For the Mage Corps, in the end Selene became the leader of the Light Spirit Mage Corps.
Long staves made of Treat Wood, fitted with magic crystals that assist with spellcasting according to their individual elements, and coated with mithril alloy to protect the magic crystal and have blunt edge as a means for attack.
They have a leather breastplate on top of their uniform, and a dagger on their hip.
The Water Spirit Knights were unique. Behind Fluna, Lana, Mina, Shana, and Wistina, the five members of the Mermangers who continue to use their individual colors, were young Mermaids lined up wearing blue armor of the same design.
The Water Spirit Knights main battlegrounds were underwater or at sea, so they didn’t wear mantles or surcoats.
Large banners representing Knight Orders and the Mage Corps hung high, with all members lined up neatly, they numbered roughly 250 strong.
Their numbers were but a fraction of a normal knight order, but due to the unique nature of this land as the Sanctuary, if we exclude the mermaids who were original residents, 200 was its limit at a sudden increase.
Actually, not all 200 were even from the outside. Like Wappa, there were some who were originally residents.
And now, the induction ceremony of the Knight Orders and Mage Corps who were to protect the Sanctuary was being held today.
This was partly due to Sylph and the Great Spirits’ wishes, but it was also recommended by Madam Lumia and the others.
They said holding these kinds of unveilings were important.
I didn’t really get it, but even Sylph, Undine, Salamander, and Gnome were also excited for it, so it was probably a good idea to do so.
The citizens of the Sanctuary also came in droves to observe.
There were no direct threats to the Sanctuary thanks to the barrier, but even so, as a precaution should a time ever come, I’d be glad we established the knight orders and mage corps here.
Whether or not it was a whim of the Great Spirits, or if it was their plan all along, the introduction of the newly created organizations that would defend the Sanctuary ended on a high note, with the Sanctuary’s Orchestra joining the occasion.
However, for the knights’ squad leaders and the mages’ group members, the real challenge was just beginning.
「Hey! Stop dragging your feet! Don’t break formation!」
「Yessir!」
「Come on! Come on! Stamina to last to the end mattes even for mages! Run! Run!」
「Haa, haa, yes!」
To them, once they had built up their stamina and acquired the basics combat skills or magic skills, hellish power leveling awaited them.
For the cavalry troops, it was power leveling with the Battle Horses, so the plan was to basically double their training.
Madam Rosary and Madam Elizabeth were worried that the training might be too harsh to start with, but thanks to Wappa, everyone was actually filled with motivation.
The reason why it’s thanks to Wappa was because, aside from Fluna and the Mermangers, the other children were shocked by how strong Wappa was compared to everyone else.
However, as members who had passed the Great Spirits’ selection, they did not lose heart. On the contrary, they were brimming with determination to not lose to Wappa.
Now then, I suppose I should join the power-leveling too.
