Chapter 929 803: The Colossal Corpse of the Heavens
Chapter 929 803: The Colossal Corpse of the Heavens
With the disappearance of the fragment, Kane and the others returned once again to a dense white mist.
"Shall we continue forward?" Kreya tilted her head and asked.
Kane shook his head: "Forget it, let's first see where those unchanging coordinates are. If they're close enough, we'll go there first."
Saying this, Kane recited a spell, and a ring of mist appeared in his hand.
Before long, he opened his eyes, looking not very pleased.
"Our luck doesn't seem great this time; the unchanging coordinates are all too far from us.
Moreover, the area we're in is constantly twisting and shifting, moving farther away. Looks like we'll have to wait for next time to see if they're within reach."
Outside the mist, the space was twisted and shifting, without any discernible pattern, except for a few fixed coordinates that remained unchanged.
Whether it's due to bad luck or not, the location Kane and the others entered this time was constantly twisting and shifting.
This meant they were getting farther and farther from those coordinates. Even if they advanced at full speed, they wouldn't reach any of the points within a month.
They could only wait until next time to see if the randomly entered location was close enough to these coordinates before considering marking them.
"Let's keep moving then; it doesn't seem like there are any space entrances nearby."
Hearing Kreya's words, Kane nodded in agreement.
In less than a day, the group had traversed two world fragments.
Although both were useless, desolate places.
They weren't without gains; at least they found it novel.
Their desire for exploration began to rise.
...…
"Why is it yet another dead world? My desire to explore is fading!"
As the tank of the group, Longbei was always the first to pass through the mist wall into a new world fragment.
Looking at the surrounding grayness, where the air was filled with a stale odor of decay and ruin.
This was another dead world.
It's been almost half a month since they first arrived outside the mist.
Looking at the surroundings, Longbei lay helplessly on the ground, gazing at the gray sky, and sighed.
Kane and the others sat down beside him, ready to rest for a while.
They were slightly disappointed at the moment they entered.
Half a month had passed, experiencing countless world fragments, but all were lifeless, desolate places.
In contrast, the shadow they encountered in their second world fragment was the only moving thing they've seen in this half month.
These entirely destroyed world fragments contained almost nothing of value, mostly some leftover minerals.
In this half month, they had truly become garbage cleaners, clearing one pile of trash after another.
Kane turned to them and suggested, "How about we rest here for a day? After walking for more than half a month, it's about time for a break."
For the past half month, relying on their physical fitness, they had been exploring tirelessly without sleep.
Although they felt no physical fatigue, mentally, after experiencing so many lonely fragments, they were bound to feel somewhat weary.
Considering Kane's suggestion, Kreya thought for a moment: "Since we're here, let's stroll around this fragment first, and if there's nothing, then we'll rest."
No one objected to Kreya's proposal, so they all got up, dusted themselves off, and prepared to continue exploring.
It felt more justified to rest after exploring.
However, encountering all sorts of destroyed world fragments over the past half month had dampened much of their exploration enthusiasm.
This was still a broken land under a gray sky.
There was nothing new about it.
Yet, after a few steps, Kane felt something different.
"Do you feel it? Although this place is desolate, the rules of this space aren't that chaotic."
Hearing Kane's words, everyone carefully sensed the area.
Kreya nodded: "Indeed, while the space's rules here are still chaotic, they're much more orderly than the fragments we've encountered before."
Everyone noticed the difference, and their passion for exploration surged again.
At the very least, a spark was reignited.
Differences meant something new, indicating that this world fragment had something distinct compared to the other destroyed ones.
The heavy footsteps became somewhat lighter.
The fragrance of decay in the air seemed less pungent.
Walking on this ruined land for who knows how long, the scenery remained unchanged.
"Wow!"
Lilulu looked ahead and suddenly exclaimed.
Everyone also saw at the end of their vision, that enormous object.
It was a massive mountain peak, rising sharply like a thorn, reaching for the sky.
What amazed them was not the mountain itself, but what was on it.
The entire mountain seemed like a giant earth spike, piercing through a massive corpse from the back.
From their distant vantage point, the corpse appeared human-like.
It wore no armor, just thin clothing, and its exposed body was a grayish-black.
Whether this was its natural skin tone or a result of death was unknown.
They deduced it was dead because the massive corpse had no head.
"It seems that thing is what makes this world fragment different."
Kane spoke, and beneath their feet appeared a massive circular disc, followed by two nozzles at the rear of the disc, shooting out swiftly.
Already getting impatient, they sped up to go have a look.
In just a minute, they reached the foot of the peak.
Watching from such a close distance, the scene was even more breathtaking.
The size of the corpse was more exaggerated than the peak, otherwise it wouldn't have been pierced through by it.
Compared to the peak, it was like a person to a sword.
It was estimated to be close to a thousand meters, a true colossal object.
His feet were supporting the ground, and the sharp peak pierced through his back to his chest.
His hands grasped the point of the peak protruding from his chest, as if trying to pull it out of his body.
The cut on his neck was exceptionally smooth, and the head's whereabouts were unknown, as if someone had cleaved it in two with a sharp strike without any resistance.
Although the skin exposed was gray-white, it was tattooed with massive totems.
The fabrics and clothes on his body appeared like they belonged to an ancient tribal race, more akin to some kind of old ethnic attire.
"What race is this? The size is so exaggerated!"
Longbei looked up at the sky and asked.
"Are Titans really this large?" Kane asked beside him.
Hearing Kane's question, Longbei explained: "The size of Titans can change. They can be larger than stars at their biggest, and at their smallest, they can be in a normal humanoid form."
"So do you think it's possible that this Giant actually used some kind of skill to max out his size before fighting, and upon death, his body didn't revert back?"
"That's possible, or maybe their race is just naturally this large, after all, the world is vast."
As they chatted, Kane controlled the disc under their feet, flying directly to the chest and abdomen of the corpse, where the peak had pierced through.
At the spot where the peak emerged from the chest, there was a noticeable depression.
The depression was a crimson lake, seemingly condensed from the Giant's internal blood.
Everyone disembarked from the disc, stepping on the Giant's corpse to reach the lake's edge.
Meizike squatted down, waved his hand, and a mass of blood flew into his hand.
He looked at the dark red blood in his hand.
After studying it carefully, he said, "The time of the Giant's death is almost untraceable. The blood appears not to have dried but has no vitality at all."
"It's like... water mixed with dye."
"However, it's evident from this that the Giant was stronger than us in his lifetime, probably at the multicolored stage."
Meizike stood up, clapped his hands, and thought for a moment before cautiously adding, "Of course, this is just part of my speculation and may not be accurate."
After hearing Meizike, Kane curiously asked, "So this body has existed for at least a thousand years or even longer. Can a being at the multicolored level have a corpse that doesn't decay for so long after death?"
"It might be because this world was destroyed, and the chaotic rules preserved his body perfectly.
Although the energy of the corpse dissipated, it's possible for the flesh to remain uncorrupted."
Standing by, Kreya thought for a while, carefully sensing the surrounding rules, distinguishing which ones were chaotic and which ones remained relatively stable.
"Does this mean this world is of no use, just like those other dead World Fragments we encountered before?"
Longbei concluded beside him.
Hearing Longbei's words, Kane teased, "If you want to eat its meat, it might still have some value."
"Ah, it's boring, let's leave, let's leave."
Another dead world, even with a giant corpse, held nothing useful.
Longbei disinterestedly jumped off the corpse, landing on the ground like a missile.
Kane and the others exchanged smiles and jumped off as well.
"Although there's not much to gain, seeing such a sight is extraordinarily rare, isn't it?"
Kane said with a smile, then conjured up a Memory Stone in his hand, capturing the scene of the peak and the Giant's corpse.
Such a sight not being preserved would indeed be a pity.
Once Kane finished taking photos, he looked at the giant corpse resembling a mountain in front of him.
"For such a powerful existence to remain in such a painful posture is too disrespectful."
As he spoke, Kane placed his hands on the ground.
The towering peak piercing his chest began to collapse, and then the corpse, losing its support, started falling on one side.
Such a huge object collapsing was incredibly terrifying to watch.
Kane controlled the ground in front, causing a massive pit to form as it sank down.
As the peak and corpse collapsed, the rising dust clouds soared up.
Kane quickly created a shield to protect everyone.
The raging dust and rubble struck the shield with a dinging sound, obscuring everyone's view of the outside.
When the dust completely settled, the corpse had fallen into the pit.
Under Kane's control, the surrounding fragmented earth and stones began wrapping around, filling the pit again.
Reburying the huge corpse in the pit, letting it rest in peace.
Kreya and the others just stood silently behind Kane, waiting for him to finish what he was doing.
This counts as a good deed done with a flick of the hand, improving one's mood, so why not?
Looking at the slightly raised mound, Kane clapped his hands.
"It's done, let's rest here tonight, and mark this Fragment tomorrow."
Hearing Kane's words, everyone nodded.
Then Kane casually waved his hand, and a luxurious villa appeared on the spot for them to stay in.
