Chapter 922 798: Colossus
Chapter 922 798: Colossus
Amis and Rock walked into the city, and it was the development of this harbor city that really made one involuntarily gasp in amazement.
After yet another few years of development, this city had already grown into a behemoth.
Within the Platinum Country, it was now the largest city besides the City of Two Realms.
Although compared to a year ago it had changed drastically in appearance, almost all of their commission jobs came from here.
In the past year or two they had been coming here often, so the place felt very familiar.
They went all the way through the city to the harbor.
The first thing that hit their eyes along the way was the dense mass of goods being transported from the harbor to the nearby train station.
A dedicated freight railway ran directly to the unloading zone of the harbor.
Passing through the unloading zone, with its thick crowds and machinery, they went straight to where the ships were moored.
In front of them lay one gigantic colossus after another, each one fully comparable to the sea fortress from last time.
Just looking at them filled one with a kind of stunned dread; this too was a display of the Platinum Country's power.
These ships were roughly divided into three types.
The first type was the largest class of ocean‑going vessels, only designed by Grandmaster Kobok and forged into the first hull half a year ago.
The second type was the earliest model of ocean‑going vessel, previously improvised by Kane and constructed through Origin Skills.
The third type was one or two sizes smaller than what Kane had built back then, mainly used for fast transport of valuables.
"The Giant Whale, the Giant Whale, let me see where it is."
Standing by the harbor, Amis shaded his eyes with his hand, head turning left and right as he searched for the ship they were supposed to board.
"Ah, found it."
Spotting his target, Amis quickly walked over with Rock in tow.
It was one of the largest‑class ships, moored there like a castle on the sea.
No—calling it a castle was actually conservative; it was more like a small town on the sea, ridiculously huge.
This was a monster about a kilometer long and nearly two hundred meters wide.
A construct this massive made people marvel at how it could possibly float on the ocean.
Even from the outside you could see numerous Magic Paths etched across it, not to mention what lay within. Just what kind of power did it take to drive something this big?
That was where Grandmaster Kobok's level of energy technology came in.
His outrageous energy technology, channeled through Magic Paths and various Arrays, could easily drive a one‑kilometer‑long sea construct like this.
They could see large machines moving nonstop, loading all kinds of cargo into the ship.
On the side of the hull, the name Giant Whale was written, along with the Platinum Country's distinctive lantern emblem.
Amis and the others walked over.
A man who was in the middle of directing something saw them and immediately came up to greet them.
"Zock? How come you're here?"
Amis looked at the man walking over, asking curiously.
This man had once been a gold‑rank member of the Guild, a gold‑rank commander loyal to Kane.
Since all gold‑rank members within the Platinum Country joined the Guild, everyone was fairly familiar with one another.
"Didn't expect you guys to be the ones who took the commission. Looks like this trip's going to be safe."
Zock said with a smile, then answered Amis's question: "Because I'm the captain of the Giant Whale."
Hearing that, Amis nodded in understanding.
All of the first‑type giant ocean‑going vessels, because of their massive size and the amount of cargo they carried on each voyage,
had become prime targets for anyone with ill intentions.
Because of that, even though only four of this type had been built so far,
the captain of each one was a gold‑rank member, and every voyage was accompanied by four gold‑rank members of the Lantern Knight Order.
As well as a force of roughly a thousand soldiers.
These soldiers and the four Lantern Knights would each command a hundred‑meter‑class warship, escorting the freighter all the way.
A formation like this was more than enough to ensure the safety of such a giant ocean‑going ship in the vast majority of situations.
"You take these two distinguished guests aboard first and get them settled."
Zock said to a crew member beside him.
Then he turned back to Amis and the others and said apologetically, "Sorry, I've got to finish dealing with all this first. I'll come up later and have a proper chat."
Amis waved his hand. "It's fine, it's fine. We'll head up first, you go ahead with your work."
With that, the crew member led the two of them up onto the Giant Whale.
He then arranged the best cabins for them on the topmost deck.
Just like that, time passed until noon.
With a thunderous blast from the whistle, the ocean‑going ship began to slowly pull out of the harbor.
Amis and the others came out onto the deck, looking at the seascape and letting the faintly salty, damp sea breeze wash over them.
Before long, Zock also walked over and stood beside them.
Zock had once been a leader within the military faction, and had joined them after Kane and the others wiped out the Cannibal Ghost faction.
Now Zock was dressed in a blue‑and‑white captain's uniform, a Golden chain running from his collar down into the pocket at his chest.
At his waist hung a holster, inside it a pistol‑type Launcher.
The most eye‑catching thing was the small mechanical sphere perched on his right shoulder.
The blue lens at the center of the little sphere swept left and right.
Amis asked, "With the firepower equipped on something this big, the ship should already be very well protected. Why still issue a commission?"
