Chapter 709 709: The Fall of the Ancestor

Chapter 709 709: The Fall of the Ancestor

Herag really wanted to see the river's surface; he realized that he was at the bottom, the bottom of the Mother River.

Although he could not sense any presence below, the underside seemed like a bottomless void, yet Herag still knew he was at the river bottom.

Herag was unclear about the distance from here to the river's surface, but he knew it should be far.

Just moving about within the Mother River was already so difficult, trying to swim to break through the surface was as hard as reaching the sky.

Herag even suspected that even the old Ancestors like the Thousand-Eyed Ancestor might not be able to do it.

He was already considered one of the stronger Level 8 Dominators, at least from the perspective of Mother River Power.

Yet it was still very difficult; even twisting his neck required all of Herag's strength.

The force here was merely a feeling; in reality, it was a combination of his own Bloodline Power, Soul Power, and physical strength. All his powers had to be mobilized just to turn his neck slightly, and the angle was very small.

If he wanted to swim freely here, Herag felt that at least an Ancestral Level existence was needed.

He suddenly realized that perhaps ordinary Level 8 Dominators might still be unable to move at all.

It was only because Herag's Infinite Bloodline Power was strong enough, capable of bearing enough Mother River Power, that he could move slightly.

Inside the Mother River, it was silent, with only the souls, bloodline, and power from the Endless Plane flowing past.

Time also lost its meaning here because time itself was just a trivial part of the river water.

Herag didn't know how long he had been soaking; when the time came, he naturally withdrew.

Upon withdrawing, he immediately checked the time; fortunately, only three years had passed.

Herag truly feared that his advancement this time would take over ten thousand years, leaving those he knew gone, with no familiar faces in sight.

From his past life until now, Herag had once experienced the terror of having no acquaintances.

Now he had family and friends, and he did not want to experience such loss again.

Thinking of this, Herag couldn't help but laugh self-deprecatingly; it is said that advancing in power systems is essentially an advancement in the level of life.

The current Herag could no longer be considered an ordinary human, yet many things belonging to humans still remained unchanged.

Herag felt that this was quite good.

Herag pursued eternity and his own strength, but not to turn himself into a stone.

After advancing to Level 8 Dominator, Herag once again attempted to communicate with the Mother River.

Instantly, he was back at the bottom of that river.

"So that's how it is..."

Herag understood why there was a strength gap between Level 8 Dominators and Level 7 Legendary individuals. Leaving aside Blood Runes, simply the amount of Mother River Power they could obtain was at entirely different levels.

Level 7 Legendary Life communicating with the Mother River could only obtain the Mother River Power drop by drop.

But Level 8 Dominators communicating with the Mother River were directly immersed in it, their entire being soaked in Mother River Power, naturally obtaining a vast amount of it.

After Herag returned to the Mother River bottom, he again attempted to move but found himself completely unable to move.

His previous attempts had exhausted all his strength; at this moment he could only remain at the bottom, unable to move even a finger.

Herag sensed that it would take about seven or eight days before he could attempt to move within the river again; time was needed for recovery.

After retreating from the Mother River, Herag, filled with questions, returned to the Abyss Plane, arriving at the Lava Cave.

The Thousand-Eyed Ancestor, upon seeing him, immediately said, "You have walked a different path from him."

"Him?" Herag roughly guessed whom the Thousand-Eyed Ancestor was referring to.

The Thousand-Eyed Ancestor nodded, "Yes, I am talking about the Thunder God."

"Previously, when I fought with Ryan, he told me that the Thunder God Ancestor no longer existed. Can Ancestors also perish?" Herag asked.

An Ancestor can only achieve the position once the Blood Rune they have condensed is recognized by the Mother River.

Every Ancestor is directly connected to the Mother River; their soul, bloodline, and power are integrated with the Mother River.

So theoretically, as long as the Mother River does not perish, the Ancestor cannot die.

Their bloodline and power will flow out of the Mother River and spread to various places across the Endless Plane, growing strong in those areas, ultimately returning to the Mother River, back to the Ancestor's body, strengthening the Ancestor's power.

Repeating this endless cycle, even if they do nothing, Ancestors continuously grow stronger.

The Thousand-Eyed Ancestor, an ancient Ancestor, has grown stronger step by step because of this, becoming unfathomably deep.

Regarding Herag's question, the Thousand-Eyed Ancestor remained silent for a moment, then said, "An Ancestor certainly will not perish, but if it is their own choice, it is different."

"Their own choice?" Herag seemed to catch onto something, but couldn't clearly grasp the idea.

The Thousand-Eyed Ancestor explained, "The Thunder God released all his bloodline, soul, and power, reverting to the Mother River. This was his voluntary choice, hence why it happened."

"Why?" Herag asked.

Herag did not understand the reason behind the Thunder God Ancestor's actions; having already become an Ancestor, standing at the pinnacle of the Endless Plane, why would one release oneself, return to the Mother River.

"He wanted to break through, but he realized that with his methods at the time, he could not achieve that step. So he released himself to start all over again," said the Thousand-Eyed Ancestor, seemingly very knowledgeable about the affairs of the Thunder God Ancestor.

"Breakthrough? Is there a higher realm above the Ancestor?" Herag sharply picked up on this piece of information, feeling a mix of disbelief and understanding of what the Thousand-Eyed Ancestor meant.

He originally thought that Level 9 Ancestor was already the pinnacle of the Endless Plane, but from what the Thousand-Eyed Ancestor said, it was likely more than that.

The huge black eyeball of the Thousand-Eyed Ancestor flashed with a light and said, "I don't know either; no one in the Abyss Plane has stepped into that realm. No one knows if a higher realm exists. But in ancient legends across the Endless Plane, such a realm exists, able to transcend the Mother River."

"Ancient..."

The Thousand-Eyed Ancestor himself is an extremely ancient being; the Abyss Plane is also an ancient plane within the Endless Plane.

To the Thousand-Eyed Ancestor, these are ancient legends. How long ago must these legends have been?

The transcendence of the Mother River mentioned by the Thousand-Eyed Ancestor made Herag recall his experience at the river bottom.

He suddenly thought, could breaking the river's surface be what transcending the Mother River means?

As Herag thought about it, the possibility seemed to grow stronger, no wonder he had a strong desire back then to see the river's surface; it seemed instinctual.
