Chapter 622: Spirit Fusion, Ghost

"," He greeted me, averting his gaze awkwardly, my eyes widening as my heart skipped a beat.

I-It’s...it’s really him!

"REX!!!" I exclaimed tearfully, grabbing his shoulders and pulling him into a tight hug, rubbing my cheek against his as he hugged me back.

I-I don’t believe this, it’s really, really him! How is this possible?

No, I don’t care how, all that matters is that he’s back, I’ll worry about the rest later!

"," He remarked, nodding to my right.

I glanced that way, clicking my tongue irritably as one of the Knights got back onto his feet with a grimace, drawing out a sword and narrowing his eyes at me.

"Hey, get lost. I’m having a moment here, in case that wasn’t clear," I stated icily.

"I am the Vice-Commander of the Knight Order of the great Kingdom of Lynocyes, Nyle Derres! And I will not be ordered around by a woman," He growled, before chanting, "Now, [Spirit Summoning, Salamander: Ember]! And [Spirit Fusion, Salamander: Ember]!"

A large four-legged reptile with fiery red scales appeared before him, before glowing brighter and flowing into him, a burst of energy erupting as he fused with the Spirit.

Red scales appeared all over his skin, wisps of flames flowing out of the corners of his mouth as his teeth and nails extended into fangs and claws, his pupils narrowing.

"," Said Rex, as the man raised his sword, flames erupting around it.

"Huh? Okay, uh...[Spirit Fusion, Ghost: Rex]," I chanted, Rex’s body glowing brightly and flowing into me.

I felt an immense surge of power erupting inside me, right as the man swung his sword down and unleashed a blazing, vertical slash of flames towards me.

"," Rex’s voice echoed out inside my head, as the fiery slash phased right through me, the Knight’s eyes widening in disbelief.

"Wh-What?! Impossible!" He blurted out in shock.

"."

Alright, that’s what I like to hear!

As the Knight opened his mouth and unleashed a blazing wave of flames at me, I launched myself straight through the flames with a devastating explosive blast from behind me.

I phased right through the flames, the Knight’s eyes widening in alarm as I met his gaze from inches away, before grabbing his face with my left hand and slamming him onto the ground, the back of his head colliding against the dirt with immense force.

Cracks spread out across the ground as puffs of dust rose up, before he drove both his feet up towards my stomach.

His feet passed right through my body, before I lifted him up and hurled him away with a rapid snap of my arm, taking aim and firing out an explosive projectile at him.

As the projectile shot towards him and closed in on the middle of his body, he frantically raised his sword up defensively, my projectile hitting the middle of the blade and erupting, shattering it to pieces.

He tossed the blade away with a grimace as his feet hit the ground and skidded back, a bead of sweat running down his face.

I then launched myself straight up into the air, the Knight lifting his gaze before stiffening as I blasted myself straight down towards him, extending out my Explosion Blade in my right hand.

He scrambled away as I closed in and swung the blade of concentrated energy down, triggering a devastating explosion as the tip of the blade struck the ground, blowing him away as a crushing shockwave burst out.

His left shoulder hit the ground before he skidded away, coming to a sliding halt across the dirt. He stumbled as he shakily got back onto his feet, shrinking back as I took a step towards him.

Hm, there aren’t any people around on the street, but we’re surrounded by buildings, I want to let loose, but I don’t want to kill any innocent people in the process.

Looks like the area ahead is a more open space, think it’s a town square or something like that. I’ll drive him to that spot.

I fired off a barrage of explosions at the Knight, who hesitated for a moment before turning around and sprinting away, stumbling and struggling to keep his balance as my explosions erupted across the ground behind him, bits of dirt flying out with every blast, clouds of dust rising up in his trail.

As he raced out into the open area, I blasted myself forward, triggering another explosion to further propel myself, closing in on him right as he spun around.

I drove my left fist towards his face, a sharp cry of pain followed by a loud crunch ringing out as he crossed his arms in front of himself defensively, my fist colliding against his forearms and sending him flying back.

He crashed onto a fountain in the middle of the space, a splash echoing out as he fell into the water.

Clouds of steam erupted as he burst out of the water with flames swirling around him, trembling in rage and pain. His right forearm was bent around the middle at a near-ninety degree angle, while the middle of his left forearm was heavily swollen.

"Wh-What is this...? Why...why do my flames have no effect on you?!" He yelled, before unleashing a massive wave of flames at me from his mouth.

He’s actually pretty powerful, I’d put him on the level of what used to be considered the mid-range of X-Ace level, with a Power Level somewhere in the range of 1,500,000.

Of course, all of us five currently active X-Aces have blown well past that range. But even setting that aside, I’ve got High Elemental Resistance, so his flames wouldn’t have much of an effect on me even without Rex’s intangibility...heh, I feel so happy and giddy.

Rex is back, he’s really back! And right now, we’re one, we’ve literally fused together...I’ve never felt this happy in my life!

"D-Damn it, what the hell is so funny, bitch?!" Snarled the Knight, ruining the moment.

"," Suggested Rex murderously.

"Yeah, sounds good to me."
