Chapter 576: X-Aces vs The Demon Lord (Part 3)
Just twenty seconds left with Enrage, and I have no choice but to use up another significant amount of Mana...
"
Vaszel quickly rolled out of the way, his left elbow getting caught up in the blast and wiped out, before springing back onto his feet, his arm rapidly regenerating as dozens of spikes burst out of the ground, rising up with immense speed towards us.
My vision blurred slightly as Enrage wore off, grimacing as one of the spikes inflicted a deep bash across my left calf, blood streaming down my leg before I shook my head to regain my bearings and flew back, weaving through the air to evade the spikes.
"
With how long Arouse lasts, I’m not going to have to worry about the time limit...but I’ve got just about four minutes left with Descent, and the same goes for Aria.
Intense bursts of heat then erupted as Aria smashed the rising spikes to pieces, right as Avaritia and Gula sprang up on either side of Vaszel, who grabbed Avaritia by the throat, a choked gasp ringing out as he swung her across, just as Gula fired out her petrifying beams, hitting Avaritia, though she didn’t get petrified.
Vaszel swiftly crushed Avaritia’s throat and destroyed her as she clawed his forearm viciously, before firing out a blast of Disintegration at Gula, erasing her head clean off her shoulders before she could react.
He then shot up into the air as I unleashed a rapid slashing wave of Negative Energy towards him, evading it before swiftly manifesting Reflection as Ira unleashed a drilling ray of Ether at him.
Ira quickly veered across as his attack got reflected back at him, narrowly evading it, right as Aria zipped up behind Vaszel, who quickly began to spin around.
Aria extended out several Negative Energy tendrils, wrapping them around Vaszel’s ankles and wrists, before slamming her right fist against the side of his face, a searing burst of flames erupting upon impact.
The tendrils kept Vaszel from getting blasted away, his Reflection barrier fading as his head snapped across from the force of Aria’s strike, before she let out a roar as she unfurled a vicious barrage of fiery, explosive strikes, battering him relentlessly as the glow of her Blaze Ignition: Supernova flickered.
She’s running low on Mana, she’ll run out any second now!
I zipped towards them and launched myself forward with a burst of Negative Energy as Aria continued to pummel the Demon Lord, streaks of blood spraying out, followed by sharp sizzles as the blood came into contact with the heat emanating off of her and evaporated into red steam.
Suddenly, as her right fist collided against his chest, the flames wrapped around her body abruptly faded, a disoriented look appearing on her face, right as Vaszel let out a furious snarl and grabbed her hair, the tendrils restraining his limbs dissipating as Aria lost focus.
"You damned-...!" He began, before stiffening as I closed in and grabbed the side of his head.
"
Streaks of blood trickled out of his nostrils and ears, before I quickly grabbed Aria and flew back, manifesting and raising Drain in front of myself as Vaszel unleashed a rapid ray of Disintegration, just barely managing to swallow it up.
"You damned humans," He growled, slowly flying back and getting some distance, as he took a moment to catch his breath.
"I’ve been wondering this whole time...how are you able to regenerate your clothes along with your body?" Suddenly inquired Aria, a bemused look appearing on the Demon Lord’s face.
I mean, I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t been curious about that too, but this really isn’t the time to-...actually, maybe I can make use of this...
"Wha...? Er, these are constructed out of Negative Energy, so-...," He began in bewilderment, before stiffening and turning his gaze up as a massive, swirling pillar of Ether came plummeting down towards him.
He swooped down at top speed before rapidly veering across to his right, his feet getting caught up in the mass of swirling energy and ripped off, before rapidly regenerating as he flew away.
Ira began to chase after him, before Vaszel suddenly halted and blasted himself straight towards Ira, who began to fly out of the way, before getting caught by two of Vaszel’s Binding Chains, the Demon Lord whipping his spear across and slicing Ira in half.
As Ira dissipated and flowed back into me, Vaszel turned his attention back towards me and Aria, narrowing his eyes at us.
"Very clever, humans, confusing me in an effort to get me to let down my guard. I’ll admit, you’ve worn me down more than anyone ever has, such a distraction wouldn’t have worked otherwise. But like I already said, it’s futile. You cannot defeat me.
And I’m well-aware that you need a significant amount of Mana to summon your undead forces, Kaivel Intrix, so the more I destroy them-...hm? Wait, where is Raixel? Did I already destroy him?" Frowned Vaszel uncertainly, looking around warily.
"Unfortunately, he’s right...think I’ll only be able to summon the Apostles one more time. And you’re pretty much completely out of Mana yourself," I muttered as I glanced at Aria.
"I still have about two and a half minutes left with Descent, so I can still fight," She stated without hesitation.
"Now, then...this battle has dragged on long enough, I think it’s about time we draw this to its conclusion," Remarked Vaszel, cracking his neck with a tilt of his head.
"Huh, what do you know, looks like we’re on the same page. Yeah, let’s end this...time for you to die," I responded, brandishing my blade at him.
"I believe that’s my line, Kaivel Intrix."
