Chapter 572: Sanctuaries Breached (Part 5)

"[Stone Arrow Scattershot]!" I exclaimed, firing off a barrage of razor-sharp earth projectiles at a Fire Dragon, who weaved through the air to evade my attacks.

"How trifling. It is pointless, human, you cannot defeat me," Scoffed the Dragon.

"Man, you sure do talk a lot, don’t you? Thought you Dragons found speaking to us lowly humans beneath you. Plus, you’re using your smaller form, thought that was something Dragons only use against opponents they consider stronger than them," I remarked, as I unleashed a narrow, rapidly spinning disk of earth.

The Dragon veered across to evade it, the disk shooting past his right side.

"Indeed, most Dragons do have such a mindset. But I find it archaic and foolish. Why would I put myself at greater risk just for the sake of pride? I much prefer the maneuverability of this form," He responded, before unleashing a devastating, scorching wave of flames down towards me as he snapped his jaws open.

I backed away as fast as I could before raising my staff and forming a wide, tall wall of earth in front of myself, the flames colliding against it with searing force, the air around my earth wall shimmering violently.

I grimaced as the wall began to steadily melt, before stiffening as the Dragon rapidly swooped down as the flames began to peter out, landing behind me.

I spun around in a rush, starting to raise my staff towards him, before he suddenly lunged forward and whipped his claws up, slicing through my right bicep and severing my arm before I could cast a Spell.

I cried out in pain as blood violently sprayed out of the stump left around the middle of my bicep, stumbling back before my back thudded against my earth wall.

I scrambled across to my right as the Dragon leapt towards me and unfurled a vicious thrust of his claws, which plunged into my left elbow, tearing through my skin and flesh and snapping through the joint, ripping my left forearm off.

As I let out a shaky gasp of pain, the Dragon spun around and whipped his tail across, striking my chest and launching me back several meters through the air, a sharp clang ringing out as I slammed against a lamppost, sliding down along the pole and thudding against the ground.

"And now, to end this-...," Began the Dragon, as he started to approach me.

This is it, I’ve got nothing else to lose...so, I’ll put in everything I’ve got...

"[Quadruple Earth Wall]!" I exclaimed, four large, towering walls of earth rising up around us, boxing us in.

Immense pain erupted across my entire body, several spots on my skin tearing open and blood spraying out, as I felt myself getting weaker.

"Hm? What are you trying to do here? This makes no sense. Your Aura has diminished immensely, what did you do? I do not understand," Frowned the Dragon with a perplexed look on his face.

"Oh, you will. You’re strong, way stronger than I am...but even a Dragon isn’t strong enough to survive a direct hit from my most powerful Spell. Now, come forth...[Meteor STRIKE]!!!" I roared, a massive chunk of earth forming high up in the air, by the ceiling of the dome surrounding the Sanctuary, before plummeting with immense speed towards the opening around the top of the four walls.

"Yes, that looks dangerous. But how foolish, I simply need to get away and-...what?!" He blurted out as he slammed his fist against one of the walls, a few small cracks spreading out, but it remained intact.

"Sorry, but...that won’t work. I didn’t use just Mana to power these Spells...I used my own life force. I figured out how to fuel my Spells with life force, which makes them much, much more powerful, in exchange for a portion of my lifespan.

And between these walls and the incoming meteor...I’ve put in damn-near every last drop of my life-force," I smirked, blood streaming out of my nostrils and eyes, my vision turning red.

The Dragon’s eyes widened in alarm, turning his gaze up as the meteor shot in through the opening, barreling down towards us with an intense, fiery glow.

Suddenly, he relaxed, letting out a slight chuckle as his arms slumped to his sides, before uttering as he lifted his head and met my gaze with a wry smile...

"Well played, human."

"Damn, you-...!" Roared a Greater Demon, before trailing off as the massive serpent creature burst of the water with a bellowing roar, right as I teleported back to the Sanctuary.

Alright, that’s another Greater Demon down, I-...woah!

I grimaced as I collapsed onto one knee, beads of sweat pouring down my face, a strained gasp escaping my lips before I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly to try and relax.

I’ve never used my Magic so much and in such quick succession before, and I’m covered in wounds.

Nothing too severe, just some cuts and fractures, but the pain and blood loss is wearing me out.

But I can’t stop, I have to keep going.

I’ve gotten rid of a number of Critical Level Monsters, keeping that sea creature well-fed in the process, but there’s still a tremendous number of Monsters, so I can’t afford to take a break.

I took another deep breath, letting out a slow, quiet exhale, before getting back on my feet, glancing across before teleporting several meters to my right.

I scanned the area below as I reappeared in mid-air, grimacing as I spotted a handful of Hunters struggling against a swarm of Monsters, before shifting my gaze across and teleporting again.

As much as I’d like to save everyone, I can’t...I have to focus on taking the stronger Monsters out of the equation, and then-...hm?

As I teleported again, I spotted a figure running away from an Archdemon, who was chasing after the figure at a relaxed, nonchalant pace.

Wait, that’s Rio Pentand, the Demonsbane Guild’s newest Ace.

Alright, here I go...
