Chapter 445 - 209: Interdiction Tactics
Chapter 445 - 209: Interdiction Tactics
"You’re right." Miliburn struggled for a moment as he looked at the drug dealers entrenched at the bottom of the hill, and finally came to a decision, "Attention everyone, machine gun team provide cover, prepare for retreat!"
"Yes!"
As soon as he finished speaking, under the suppression of the machine guns on the armed pickups, members of combat groups A and B began to retreat in batches.
Gu Ji lifted the binoculars.
He saw the yellow-haired man and the drug lord Alemann gritting their teeth, preparing to counterattack.
This proved that Alemann must have already called his men for support, otherwise, they wouldn’t dare to continue chasing the police.
"Quick, quick! Everyone get in the cars immediately!"
"Reyes, you lead the way in front, then the HVTs, and the Humvee armored car at the rear!"
Miliburn fought while retreating, swiftly formulating a withdrawal tactic.
Several combat group colleagues, under machine gun cover, moved all the wounded and dead bodies onto the back of the armed pickup, finally grabbing the roll cage with one hand, keeping the gun pointed backward for alertness.
Lutz urged his subordinates and noticed that Gu Ji didn’t choose to get in the car with everyone else but stayed in front of an abandoned armed pickup left by the drug dealers.
"Mr. Yasen, come quickly, what are you doing?"
"Better safe than sorry!" Gu Ji didn’t have time to explain, he opened the door, yanked the dead body of the drug dealer driver out, smashed the blood-stained windshield with the butt of his rifle, and twisted the key to ignite.
Lutz still didn’t understand why he was doing it.
Even without two police cars, the remaining combat officers could still squeeze onto the back of the pickup, or simply go into the purple bus to protect the flight passengers.
The only useful thing on the armed pickup might be the M249 squad automatic weapon at the back, crucially they lacked a machine gunner.
But he didn’t argue with Gu Ji, after all, through the earlier battle, Gu Ji had already proven his tactical prowess.
Once the HVT bus turned around and the police cars started up one by one, the white pickup driven by Gu Ji was second to last in the convoy, closely following the Humvee M1152 light armored car at the very end.
The gunfire from the drug dealers never stopped.
After the convoy began to retreat, they immediately chased up from the bottom of the hill. The leading vehicle, a Ford F550 makeshift armored car, rammed through bushes and wild grass like an iron beast, its rear M2 heavy machine gun spewing fire, bullets exchanging around the convoy.
Two shots landed on the Humvee’s rear armor, instantly piercing through the 20mm bulletproof steel plate.
Miliburn shouted in the internal channel, "Damn! Get rid of that fucking machine gunner, or we’re all gonna die here!"
In an instant, all the firepower from the convoy poured towards the drug dealers’ armored car.
Bullets pounded the bulletproof shield in front of the M2 heavy machine gun, creating dents, and eventually, a Barrett shot hit, the drug dealer’s head exploded on the spot, like a watermelon dropped from the 18th floor.
Without the suppression from the M2 heavy machine gun, the danger level of the convoy significantly decreased.
Gu Ji could hear the gunshots, screams, and the drug dealers yelling in Spanish coming from outside the car.
But at this moment, he no longer had the energy to care about the outside battle, with one hand on the steering wheel driving, and the other scrolling through satellite maps on his phone.
The two sides went back and forth like this, battling in the jungle for over twenty minutes.
They finally made it out from the forest to the grassland, the convoy started accelerating eastwards, preparing to enter the state highway and return to Torreon.
But just at that moment.
A signal came from the front of the convoy, "Captain! There’s something on the state highway!"
Gu Ji lifted his head, looking through the clear front windshield, seeing a plume of dusty yellow smoke rise at the far boundary of the state highway, as a huge black truck rolled out, its cab covered in steel plates and a sharp steel battering ram, its vehicle top elevating into a rotating turret!
"Fuck! Am I hallucinating, can someone tell me, is that a fucking tank?!" Riddle shouted in panic over the intercom.
"Damn it! That’s a makeshift tank from the drug dealers!" Lutz cursed.
"Is it really a tank?"
The purple bus passengers erupted into turmoil.
They called it a tank, but in reality, it was modified on the base of a three-axle truck bed and equipped with a heavy armored cabin. The thick bulletproof steel plates could withstand .50 caliber weapons and grenade explosions, with added grenade launchers, large-caliber sniper rifles, heavy machine guns, and other weapons inside.
"It must be the Sinaloa Cartel’s reinforcements! Captain, what should we do now?"
"The number of drug dealers is too many; it looks like twenty to thirty vehicles, at least a hundred people! Captain, when is our backup arriving?"
"Damn! The quickest will still take 40 minutes." Miliburn gritted his teeth.
Now "caught between wolves in front and tigers at the back," they were isolated and helpless. By the time the official US-Mexico Joint Forces arrived at the scene, they would probably only find a field full of corpses.
"Captain, we can go back into the jungle!"
"Back to the jungle?"
Just as Miliburn was anxiously requesting reinforcement from a nearby precinct through the command center, Gu Ji’s deep, weathered voice suddenly came through the tactical headset.
"Yes! Civil trucks already struggle to bear the weight of heavy armor, they’re difficult to maneuver on urban roads or soft terrain, let alone complex jungle environments. As long as we can lose them, we can devise a plan to set up barricades in the jungle, block the drug dealers, and hold out until reinforcements arrive!"
"Mr. Yasen makes sense! With the firepower we have now, we can’t break through the homemade tank’s armor, and fighting on open ground is disadvantageous!" Lutz responded urgently.
