Chapter 177 Encounter
Chapter 177 Encounter
"I'm not lying to you," Yu Chen replied.
"I lied." Su Wuli said with certainty.
As soon as he finished speaking, the man lowered his head and chuckled softly, then looked up and said, "There are indeed many more."
Upon hearing this, Su Wuli couldn't help but glare at him, "That's not right...that's also..."
She could no longer speak in complete sentences.
My mind was filled with the image of that jade piece that sold for 80 million at auction.
She lowered her eyelashes, her eyelashes trembled, and she muttered softly, "I regret it."
After he finished speaking, the room fell silent for a moment.
Two seconds later, Yu Chen walked over and stood in front of her.
"Regret what?"
Su Wuli looked up. "That piece of jade."
He looked at her and said slowly, "Jade is an inanimate object."
As soon as he finished speaking, his phone rang.
Lin Liwen's name popped up on the screen.
Su Wuli answered the phone, her voice trembling with excitement, "It's over? Where are you?"
"The lounge," Su Wuli said, glancing subconsciously at Yu Chen standing in front of her.
His dark robes and black hair tied up made him stand out starkly from the modernly decorated lounge.
She suddenly remembered a question: How did he get out?
"Sister Wen," Su Wuli suddenly called out to Lin Liwen, who was about to hang up the fairy tale, "Could you bring an umbrella with you?"
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone. "An umbrella?"
Lin Liwen asked in confusion, "It's not raining outside."
"Bring him over first." Su Wuli didn't explain immediately.
There was a two-second silence on the other end of the phone, probably because they sensed something from her tone.
"Okay," Lin Liwen said. "Wait."
The phone hangs up.
Su Wuli clutched her phone in her hand and looked up at Yu Chen.
Just then, faint voices could be heard coming from the corridor outside.
It was a woman.
Her voice was sweet and coquettish, with a hint of pleading at the end, "Mr. Wang, you've really put me in a terrible situation today."
After hearing this clearly, Su Wuli's fingers stopped.
Xu Weiwei.
She instinctively took a step towards the door and placed her hand on the doorknob.
The sounds in the corridor grew closer, and another man's voice rang out.
The man's voice carried a hint of amusement, "What? Wasn't the auction price for that necklace enough to make you look good?"
"You're still bringing up that necklace?" Xu Weiwei's voice became even more coquettish. "Su Wuli's jade piece sold for 80 million, while my necklace only cost 2 million. Where does that leave my pride?"
Su Wuli stood behind the door and secretly opened it.
Peek out through the narrow crack in the door.
In the corridor, Xu Weiwei was walking this way, arm in arm with a middle-aged man.
She had seen that man before; he was Mr. Wang, a real estate executive.
Xu Weiwei leaned against his shoulder, speaking softly, but the corridor was quiet, and every word was clearly audible.
"She did it on purpose."
Xu Weiwei's voice changed; it lost its previous sweetness and was clearly displeased.
"A piece of broken jade sold for 80 million? Isn't that a slap in my face? The whole audience is laughing at me. Wen Yan is making a fuss over there too, and those washed-up old fogies are looking at me like I'm a joke."
Mr. Wang patted her hand, "Alright, it's just a piece of jade. I'll find you a better one next time."
"I don't want jade." Xu Weiwei stopped and turned to look at him. "I want Su Wuli to be utterly disgraced."
His words were laced with disdain.
"I don't know who the tycoon behind her is. Anyone who can casually produce 80 million worth of jade must have quite a background. Can you help me find out who's protecting her? I'm going to expose all her dirty secrets."
Mr. Wang put his arm around her waist and leaned close to her ear, saying, "Alright, stop being angry. I'll help you get revenge later."
Xu Weiwei then let out a soft hum and leaned against him.
Su Wuli's hand had already touched the phone.
She slowly raised the camera and aimed it at the crack in the door.
On the screen, Xu Weiwei leaned against the man's chest, her face pressed against his chin, her voice softening slightly.
"Mr. Wang, you'd better keep an eye on that endorsement for me. Su Wuli is definitely trying to snatch it away too. Could you help me get it?"
The more Xu Weiwei talked, the less satisfied she became.
"And about the investment in her next film, you should talk to those investors and tell them not to invest. I want to see what she can do against me without resources."
Mr. Wang laughed, "You're quite greedy."
"I'm just feeling wronged," Xu Weiwei said in a sickeningly sweet voice.
"You don't know what happened to President Zhou that night. I finally managed to get Su Wuli into his bed, but she ended up hooking up with some rich guy and getting snatched away halfway."
Her words were full of resentment.
"President Zhou is injured. That rich guy was too ruthless. What's so great about Su Wuli? Isn't she just pretty? All those men are throwing themselves at her."
Mr. Wang's hand slid down her waist. "You're beautiful too."
Xu Weiwei giggled and dodged for a moment, then pressed herself against him again. "So, will you help me or not?"
"I'll help." Mr. Wang's hand stopped at her waist, and he said meaningfully, "I'll help you however you want..."
Xu Weiwei was satisfied, stood on tiptoe and kissed him on the cheek, then made another request.
"And that movie with Xiao Qingyu, I want the female lead. Could you please talk to the production company for me? Xiao Qingyu is almost forty, why is she still playing the female lead? Isn't she ashamed? What does it matter how many awards she has won? She's still an old woman. Giving this movie to her is a waste."
Mr. Wang pinched her chin. "You dare to steal from anyone."
"Aren't you going to help me snatch it?" Xu Weiwei tilted her head and looked at him, drawing circles on his chest with her finger.
"I lost all face when Su Wuli's jade came out. If you don't help me get revenge, how am I supposed to survive in this industry? People will think I'm easy to bully. Please teach her a lesson and let her know who's in charge here."
Mr. Wang leaned close to her ear and whispered something.
Xu Wei smiled and playfully punched him, her voice even softer, "You're so annoying..."
The two walked forward arm in arm.
Su Wuli saw through the crack in the door that they took a few steps forward and pushed open a door.
It's right across from us.
The door wasn't closed tightly, leaving a crack.
Su Wuli glanced down at her phone; the video recording on the screen was still going on, with the timer ticking.
She looked up at Yu Chen behind her.
The man stood behind her, his gaze passing over her and looking at the half-open door in the corridor.
His brows were slightly furrowed.
"I'm coming over for a bit." She leaned closer and whispered, "Don't come out, or you'll be caught on camera."
He looked at her, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.
Su Wuli spoke again, "It's only three rooms apart. I'll call you if I need anything."
Yu Chen looked at her for two seconds, then finally nodded in agreement.
Su Wuli opened the door and slipped out.
The hallway was empty, and the carpet absorbed the sound of her high heels.
She walked to the door, held up her phone, and pointed the camera at the crack.
On the screen, Xu Weiwei was sitting on the sofa, and President Wang was standing in front of her, having taken off his coat and tossed it aside.
Xu Weiwei looked up at him, her voice as soft as water.
"Mr. Wang, don't forget what you promised me. You have to keep an eye on Su Wuli for me. I want her to know what happens when she goes against me."
"Understood." Mr. Wang bent down and rested his hands on the back of the sofa behind her.
"I'll take care of the female lead for that show for you. As for Xiao Qingyu, I'll have someone talk to her and tell her to be smart and withdraw on her own."
"What about Su Wuli?" Xu Weiwei pulled on his tie, dragging him down.
