Chapter 172 Auction
Chapter 172 Auction
Wen Yan paused, then patted her with a laugh, "Just kidding, look at your anxious expression."
Su Wuli breathed a sigh of relief.
"Su Xiaoli, he's just a cousin, not your boyfriend. You were being too protective of him just now. Was it really necessary to be so nervous?" Wen Yan teased as she entered the elevator.
"Really?" Su Wuli asked incredulously.
"Anyone who didn't know better would think I was trying to kidnap a minor," Wen Yan teased. "Besides, am I not pretty?"
"Of course it's beautiful," Su Wuli replied without hesitation.
After saying that, Wen Yan chuckled twice, "I think I'd better not. If I did, I'd have to call you cousin. I still want you to call me sister."
Upon hearing this, Su Wuli couldn't help but chuckle softly, "Sister Yan."
"Yes..." Wen Yan responded immediately.
"Is that alright?" Su Wuli asked with a smile.
"Okay, very good."
……
Over the next few days, Su Wuli was extremely busy.
The crew has entered the crucial filming stage.
Her character had a night scene that was filmed from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning.
Many times, by the time she finished work it was already dawn, and she would be sitting in the RV with her eyelids drooping.
After filming intense scenes for a week straight, Su Wuli was finally able to take a break.
I slept well all day.
The charity auction dinner was the next day.
The makeup and hairstyling started at 4 p.m. that day, and the makeup artist and hairstylist worked on it for almost an hour.
The lake-blue long dress has a simple cut, falling from the shoulders to the feet, revealing the collarbone and a section of the back.
The fabric drapes smoothly and is understated, yet it looks great when worn.
When she tried it on, the stylist nodded repeatedly beside her.
Pearl necklace and earrings.
The style is classic and understated, but it makes the wearer look very gentle.
She looked at herself in the mirror and thought it looked pretty good.
When the car arrived at the venue, the red carpet was already packed with media and fans.
A flurry of flashes went off as she got out of the car, smiling and waving as she slowly walked forward, her skirt trailing a small arc on the red carpet.
The media were all calling out her name, and Su Wuli spun around a few times in response.
After signing my name, I was guided inside by staff.
The interior was very large and brightly lit.
Dozens of round tables were neatly arranged, covered with white tablecloths and decorated with fresh flowers and name tags.
I found my seat and sat down; Wen Yan was next to me.
"Pear." Wen Yan had already taken her seat and smiled when she saw her. "You look really good today."
Su Wuli smiled. "You look good too."
Wen Yan wore a pale yellow dress today, looking radiant and beautiful.
After exchanging a few words, Wen Yan lowered her voice and asked, "How are things on your end? Are you busy lately?"
"We just finished filming a major scene," Su Wuli said. "What about you?"
Just as Wen Yan was about to speak, her gaze suddenly passed over her and looked behind her.
Su Wuli looked in the direction of her gaze, puzzled.
A woman was walking towards them.
Her makeup was exquisite, she wore a light pink dress, and had a perfectly timed smile on her face.
Xu Weiwei.
The person walked over and stopped at their table, sitting down diagonally opposite Su Wuli.
She greeted us with a smile, her voice sweet, "Long time no see."
Wen Yan responded with a smile.
Su Wuli smiled, but only she knew how fake that smile was.
But it must be fake.
There were people and cameras everywhere, so she had to maintain a respectable appearance.
Xu Weiwei's expression was exactly the same as that night, so kind and sincere that no one could find fault with it.
It was as if that night had never happened.
Su Wuli picked up the champagne in front of her and took a sip.
I didn't drink too much; I just touched my lips to the alcohol.
Wen Yan whispered from the side, "She's been getting a lot of good opportunities lately."
Su Wuli glanced at her.
Wen Yan continued, "I originally had an endorsement deal, and I was about to sign the contract when she snatched it away. I don't know what connections she used."
Su Wuli's heart skipped a beat upon hearing this. "When did this happen?"
"Just a while ago," Wen Yan sighed, "but there's nothing we can do about it, they're just capable."
Su Wuli remained silent for a moment.
He subconsciously recalled the night he was drugged, and what Xu Weiwei had said.
"I've delivered the person to you, so I'll be going now?"
"I'll talk to General Manager Wang about your matter later."
Looking at the smiling face opposite her, Su Wuli felt a chill slowly creeping up her heart.
The resources that Wen Yan lost were probably given to her by that CEO Wang.
But she had no evidence; the corridor surveillance cameras were broken that night.
Xu Weiwei smiled and chatted with the person next to her in her seat, as if nothing had happened.
The atmosphere at the table was already lively even before the banquet officially began.
Xu Weiwei chatted with the person next to her while holding a glass of champagne, then suddenly turned to look at Su Wuli and Wen Yan.
"Wu Li, Wen Yan," she asked with a smile, "what treasures did you bring for the photoshoot today?"
Wen Yan smiled and said, "I didn't bring much; I just came to join in the fun."
Xu Weiwei nodded and looked at Su Wuli.
Su Wuli shook her head as well, "I didn't bring any either."
Xu Weiwei paused for a moment, her expression subtle.
It sounded like surprise, or something else entirely.
"Teacher Su is so famous now," a female voice interjected from the side, "How can you not contribute something to charity?"
The one speaking was the woman who had just sat down next to Xu Weiwei.
Su Wuli recognized her; her name was Chen Linshuang.
He has a good relationship with Hsu Wei-wei and they often appear together at various events.
Chen Linshuang smiled, her tone light and casual, as if she were joking.
But as soon as he said that, the other people at the table looked over.
Chen Lingshuang then added, "Weiwei, I see that the necklace you brought is very beautiful."
Xu Weiwei quickly waved her hand, smiling a little embarrassedly.
"I just brought a small gift to make a fool of myself. It's not very expensive, just a little something."
"Don't be modest," Chen Linshuang said, holding the cup.
"I just picked one randomly," Xu Weiwei said with a smile.
The people at the table nodded in agreement.
"You're very thoughtful."
"You can't say that," Xu Wei replied with a smile. "Compared to everyone else, my sentiments are insignificant."
As she spoke, she looked at Su Wuli with concern in her eyes, as if she genuinely cared about her.
"Miri, you can bring something next time. It doesn't have to be anything expensive, just a small token will do. After all, the public is watching us celebrities."
Chen Linshuang chimed in from the side.
"Yeah, Wuli has been quite popular lately. With so many fans, she can easily do some charity work and it will sound good to her."
She paused, then added with a smile, "Of course, Kiri definitely isn't reluctant to part with it; she's probably just too busy and forgot to prepare."
After he finished speaking, there was a moment of silence on the table.
Su Wuli held the glass of champagne, her fingers tightening slightly.
Those gazes fell upon her, some curious, some scrutinizing, and some waiting to see her reaction.
Xu Weiwei and Chen Linshuang both had gentle smiles on their faces, smiles that were flawless.
Wen Yan frowned, about to speak.
Su Wuli laughed first, "I really forgot to prepare, I'll definitely make up for it next time."
