She Wants to Divorce Me

Chapter 25

Chapter 25

Although the film was called "Genesis," the protagonist was not Pangu. He was merely a catalyst, introducing the story of Fuxi and Nüwa. The story concluded with Nüwa crafting the five-colored stones. If there was someone to create the world, naturally there would be someone to mend the sky with stones. Ji Yaoguang had a general idea of the plot. She wasn't particularly interested in watching movies, but if asked to suggest a place herself, she would have felt conflicted.

When they entered, the film had already started. The theater was full, with only a few scattered seats in the far northeast corner—the farthest from the big screen. The few people sitting there didn't seem to be there to watch the movie; some were sleeping with their eyes closed, others were tapping rapidly on their dimly lit phone screens. No one noticed the two newcomers. Once seated, the dark theater was illuminated only by the occasional light from the screen, revealing faces momentarily. Ji Yaoguang settled in her seat, her fingers slowly moving on the armrest, engaged in an internal tug-of-war. She wanted to hold Chang Yu's hand but feared being ruthlessly rejected, potentially ruining this rare moment of tenderness.

Chang Yu was unaware of Ji Yaoguang's thoughts. She shifted slightly, almost pressing against Ji Yaoguang. The sudden quickening of breath amused her. Was Ji Yaoguang nervous? This thought flashed through her mind. She leaned towards Ji Yaoguang's ear and whispered, "Watch the characters' expressions and movements carefully. Think about how you would portray this character if you were to play the role."

......And here she thought they were on a movie date, reliving the intimacy and sweetness of their student days. It turned out Chang Yu had brought her here to study? Ji Yaoguang felt a chill in her heart. She shot Chang Yu a resentful glare, grabbed her hand resting at her side, and pretended to focus intently on the movie. Han Shaoyi truly deserved his title as a top actor. His performance was dynamic, handling any role with ease. He portrayed the primitive Pangu, exuding a beauty of strength without any dialogue. He also played the young Fuxi, embodying a vibrant youthful energy.

Chang Yu didn't pull her hand away from Ji Yaoguang. The warmth of their interlaced fingers spread from her hand to her core. She couldn't see Ji Yaoguang's expression clearly but could still sense the joy emanating from her entire being. Things had been rather tumultuous lately, causing distress not just for her but likely for Ji Yaoguang as well, who must have been suffering greatly. Given their intimacy, why should they delight in such small gestures? Did she really want to end this marriage? Her own thoughts were uncertain. She knew she couldn't bear to let go of the person beside her. After a period of coldness, there was always a time of warming up, but what saddened her was that previous warm periods had never lasted long. She didn't know what would happen after this one.

Chang Yu's mind wasn't on the film, and after watching for a while, Ji Yaoguang fell into a drowsy state. She gradually leaned towards Chang Yu, eventually resting almost her entire weight on her. Perhaps knowing someone was beside her, her body was extremely relaxed. In this state, falling asleep was effortless. Chang Yu lowered her head, using the light from the screen to clearly see Ji Yaoguang's sleeping face, then repeatedly traced her features in her mind and in the darkness. Her fingertips lightly touched that delicate skin, a barely audible sigh escaping her lips.

Of course, they didn't wait for the movie to end completely.

Ji Yaoguang, awakened from her sweet dream by Chang Yu, felt somewhat ashamed. The little voice in her heart was screaming loudly. Since graduation, apart from their honeymoon, they hadn't gone on a proper date. At this rare moment, at the critical juncture when their relationship was about to thaw, she had brazenly fallen asleep. This was truly unprecedented. Should she be grateful that the dim theater hid her flushed face?

There weren't many people walking on the streets in the dead of winter, but it happened to be the lively New Year's Day. Even exiting through the side door, they could see crowds surging, the city's hustle and bustle permeating from all sides. Fortunately, due to the cold weather, many people were wrapped in thick scarves, tightly covering their faces to block the cold wind. Chang Yu and Ji Yaoguang walking on the street wearing sunglasses didn't seem too strange.

If they hadn't encountered a certain person, their whereabouts might not have been discovered.

But as luck would have it, they did.

—"Are you Cheng Henian? Can I have your autograph?" An excited voice of an eighteen or nineteen-year-old boy.

—"No, I'm not. I can't."

—"You are Cheng Henian, aren't you? I'm such a fan!" A pretty female student squealed.

—"Alright then." Cheng Henian readily agreed and even took a selfie with her.

When Ji Yaoguang saw this scene, she initially wanted to pull Chang Yu away. But Cheng Henian's sharp eyes spotted them, and in a few quick steps, she was in front of them, bringing along some of her young fans. Generally, walking on the street, it's not easy to be noticed without careful observation. But now that they had stopped, curious gazes were examining them. Even if Cheng Henian hadn't said a word, they were completely exposed.

Exchanging a glance with Chang Yu, before the piercing screams could start, Ji Yaoguang pulled her and turned to run into a nearby winding, deep alley. As for Cheng Henian, she blew a kiss to her young fans, whistled loudly, and hurriedly turned into another alley.

Fortunately, they weren't overzealous fans.

After running for a while, Ji Yaoguang was panting heavily, her hands on her knees, gasping for air.

Chang Yu's complexion remained normal, only slightly more flushed than usual.

This alley saw few passersby, but turning east led to a street food market.

"How did we run into that Cheng Henian?" Ji Yaoguang muttered softly.

Chang Yu removed her sunglasses and smiled slightly, "That's fate."

Startled by Chang Yu's unusually gentle tone, Ji Yaoguang got goosebumps. She made a gesture of rubbing her arms and quickly smiled, "This kind of ill-fated encounter is better avoided."

Chang Yu's tone was calm: "So if it's not ill-fated, it's acceptable?"

......Ji Yaoguang could only close her mouth obediently. Her gaze wandered around the unfamiliar, rundown alley, seemingly catching a glimpse of a figure. Her heart suddenly jumped, and she hurriedly took a few steps in that direction, but the narrow stone path was clearly empty. Had she imagined it? Ji Yaoguang thought, somewhat dazed.

"What are you looking at?" Chang Yu noticed Ji Yaoguang's strange movement and her suddenly pale face, asking with some concern. Ji Yaoguang's gaze was unfocused, not settling in any particular direction. Chang Yu's heart tightened. She waved her hand in front of Ji Yaoguang's eyes, and seeing no response, she became anxious.

"Nothing," Ji Yaoguang responded slowly and dully. She answered softly, "I thought I saw someone walking, but when I looked carefully, there was nothing. Could it be a ghost? Look at this dilapidated alley, rarely visited by people, and there's a kind of—"

Chang Yu glared at Ji Yaoguang. Startled by her earlier reaction, only to hear such nonsense now, she responded irritably, "Will you be quiet!" She then took the lead, walking towards the exit ahead. Ji Yaoguang concealed the heavy worry in her eyes, stuck out her tongue at Chang Yu's back, made a face, and quickly caught up.

The coincidences continued.

At the turn of the small alley, they ran into Cheng Henian again. The two stared at each other for a moment. Before Ji Yaoguang could say anything, she saw Cheng Henian hurriedly answer a phone call.

"Why aren't you here yet?"

A familiar voice mixed with a slight complaint, amplified infinitely in the small alley.

Ji Yaoguang raised an eyebrow in surprise.

Knowing that the two people in front of her had recognized the voice on the other end, Cheng Henian didn't bother to pretend. She wiggled her eyebrows and responded irritably, "Sister, the location you gave is so remote. It's already impressive that I haven't gotten lost. I'm now in the alley, why don't you tell me the exact spot?"

"Didn't I send you the location? Oh, I forgot to tell you, my friend isn't here today, so I changed to a different place to try. Look at the new location I sent you."

Cheng Henian rubbed her forehead helplessly, stole a glance at the people in front of her, and said, "I ran into Chang Yu and Ji Yaoguang."

The other end was silent for a long time before saying, "Bring them along."

After hanging up, Cheng Henian shrugged, "Together?"

Ji Yaoguang turned to Chang Yu, her gaze questioning.

Chang Yu responded indifferently, "That's fine." This morning, Lu Yusheng had invited her along, and after her refusal, she had indeed turned to others. It was just a bit strange, why would she call Cheng Henian? She had been quite angry about her loose tongue recently, so why was she willing to enjoy food with her now?

"Goddess Chang, please don't look at me like that." Cheng Henian felt uncomfortable under that scrutinizing gaze. She wasn't afraid of Lu Yusheng or Ji Yaoguang looking at her like this, but Chang Yu gave her a bone-chilling feeling, the type of person she would never dare to provoke.

Ji Yaoguang, of course, understood where Chang Yu's confusion came from. She laughed, breaking the atmosphere, and teased, "How did you end up meeting with Lu Yusheng? Is this a 'last meal'?"

"Indeed," Cheng Henian responded with a bitter face. "The MV is finished, and Sister is probably going to settle accounts now. Even if I'm to become a ghost, I might as well be a well-fed one, right?"
