She Has Three Little Treasures: Fake Heiress, Yet Captures The Tycoon's Heart

Chapter 969: Breaking Through All Defenses

Chapter 969: Breaking Through All Defenses

Raina knew that once these things came to light, Claire wouldn’t be well.

Yet, when she saw Claire, she was still taken aback.

If not for this woman’s features resembling Claire’s, it would be hard to imagine that the slightly neurotic woman before her was the high and mighty Eldest Miss Lowell, who always looked down on others.

When Raina and Elias stepped in, the perpetually darkened lights finally flickered on.

Awakened abruptly from her sleep, Claire found the light unbearably dazzling and instinctively shielded her eyes. After a moment, her eyes adjusted to the brightness, and she removed her hand.

Seeing Elias standing amidst the light, her eyes brightened instantly, and her face was full of surprise: "Nameless! Nameless, you’ve finally come to see me! Are you here to take me away? Yes, definitely, you’re so good to me, you love me so much, knowing I’m in trouble, how could you not come to see me?"

"You’re mistaken. Nameless came to see you, not because of any affection or love, but because I wanted to."

Upon hearing another voice, Claire finally realized there was another person in the small room. She turned to look and saw Raina standing beside Elias.

Her expression changed, and she couldn’t help but shout angrily, "Why are you here? Who let you come?"

"Didn’t catch what I said earlier? Well, let me repeat it once more." Raina stepped forward, looked at her, and said word by word, "Had it not been for my insistence, Nameless wouldn’t bother to even spare a glance. Miss Lowell, even now, are you still naively dreaming that Nameless loves you and will marry you as the mistress of the manor?

If so, that’s fine too, after all, daydreaming isn’t illegal. But since it’s your own dream, don’t drag others into it, wouldn’t you agree, Miss Lowell?

Yet, considering our acquaintance, I think I should tell you one more thing. Miss Lowell, if Nameless truly cared for you, why would he bring me here? Do you think Nameless has a hobby of watching those he likes being mocked?"

That phrase, ’those he likes,’ was filled with endless sarcasm.

Claire froze instantly.

Raina’s words were like a sharp blade, slashing through Claire’s defenses.

No matter how many humiliations she had endured, no matter being confined to this dreadful place, Claire tirelessly repeated one thing.

That Nameless loved her.

He did it for her own good.

If not, he wouldn’t have tacitly agreed to the engagement all this time.

Exactly right.

If it weren’t the case, why else would Elias come to see her after her feigned suicide?

Claire had just convinced herself, had just felt a great sense of happiness, only to have it ruthlessly shattered by Raina.

She was forced to face this cold and unfeeling world, confronted with harsh and merciless truth.

Claire still refused to believe, shaking her head and murmuring again and again: "No, it’s not like that. Nameless, she’s wrong. You love me, don’t you? Don’t you?"

Claire asked Nameless, pleading in her eyes and expression, a look that could soften the hardest of hearts.

But, unfortunately, it didn’t include Elias Hawthorne.

Elias glanced at Claire, then looked away, as if dwelling on her for another second was distasteful: "Leo is right."

With just this brief sentence, Claire felt like she was being cast into the deepest pits of hell.

She couldn’t hold back and shouted furiously, "Nameless! How could you do this! I’ve been so good to you, how can you bear to treat me this way! Are you heartless?"
