Chapter 777: Fu Shihan: Don’t Leave

Throughout the banquet, Lu Ci stayed glued to Su Yao, not leaving her side for a moment.

Su Yao tried both gentle and stern approaches to no avail and ultimately could only resign herself to his presence, choosing to ignore it completely.

When Su Wanxin walked over, Lu Ci was stopping Su Yao from drinking. He had seen women who could hold their liquor, but her... she was a first.

"Enough ancestor, no more drinking."

Lu Ci grabbed the wine glass from Su Yao’s hand, and just as he saw Su Wanxin, he passed the glass to her as if offering her a drink.

Su Wanxin pursed her lips into a smile and shook her head: "I’m abstaining from alcohol."

Lu Ci raised his eyebrows, looking her up and down.

He had known this girl for over a decade; she wasn’t as resistant to alcohol as Su Yao, but she definitely had a taste for it.

Whenever they went out in the past, she’d sneak drinks behind Fu Shihan’s back, afraid of being scolded.

But recently, the two times he’d seen her, she’d been acting like she had taken refuge in the sober life, as though she actually intended to quit drinking for good.

"Turned over a new leaf?" Lu Ci asked, curious.

"I’ve got a pretty bad cold and have been taking antibiotics."

Everyone knows that drinking while on antibiotics is a no-go, a sure way to death’s door, so upon hearing this, Lu Ci quietly drank the wine in the glass himself.

"I have something to take care of early tomorrow morning, so I’ll be heading back now. Brother Ci, remember to send Yaoyao home later."

Su Wanxin blurted out, causing both Su Yao and Lu Ci to pause in surprise, and even she herself realized only belatedly what she had said, her heart sinking sharply.

"Sure, don’t worry about it." Lu Ci nodded thoughtfully, it had been years since he last heard her call him Brother Ci.

"You..." Lu Ci looked at her suspiciously, "have you remembered something?"

"Hmm?" Su Wanxin counter-questioned, "Do you want me to start calling you Brother-in-law right now?"

"That’s not out of the question."

"Forget about it." Su Wanxin glanced at Su Yao’s expression and shook her head with a smile. "Calling you President Lu feels awkward, and someone won’t agree if I call you Brother-in-law, so what else can I call you but Brother Ci?"

That sounded reasonable enough, so Lu Ci quickly accepted her explanation.

He looked around, frowning, "Where is Shihan?"

"I’m not sure." Su Wanxin lowered her gaze, "Maybe he went to the restroom. I’ll be going now."

Having said this, she leaned into Su Yao’s ear and whispered a warning that only the two of them could hear.

"Drink less. Be careful or someone might take advantage of you when you’re sent home later tonight, and you won’t even have the strength to resist."

As soon as Su Wanxin finished speaking, Su Yao’s face turned beet red.

Su Wanxin straightened up, looking at her with indulgent smile, then turned and left.

Outside the hotel, in the parking lot.

Halfway there, Su Wanxin spotted someone standing by her car, tall and lean, still very good-looking even from a distance.

She slowed her steps, pressing her lips together, and as she approached, the person was leaning against her car, with a cigarette in his mouth.

Amidst the swirls of smoke, Su Wanxin locked eyes with him and then proceeded to open her car door, pondering getting inside.

Fu Shihan quickly approached, grasping her hand with a raspy voice.

"Don’t leave."

"Don’t smoke in front of me. Let go, I’m cold."

Fu Shihan threw away his cigarette, but his hand remained steadfast, looking at her as he asked, "I heard Lisa’s new head editor wanted you to seek me out. Why didn’t you?"

"You heard wrong, the information is inaccurate."

"Do you want to look at the chat records between Su Yao and Lu Ci now?"

Su Wanxin closed her eyes, knowing he must have heard it from Lu Ci.

"Wenwen asked me to find him, he’s my boyfriend, not an ex. President Fu, so it seems you might have misunderstood."
