Chapter 758: I Don’t Believe in Mu Xinghan
Chapter 758: I Don’t Believe in Mu Xinghan
Zhan Che didn’t know what to say, but then he thought that she must really be at her wit’s end to come to him for help.
Thinking back to the hardships she had endured in the past and seeing her forced smile now, Zhan Che couldn’t bear to say anything.
"What is it that you need from me? Just say it."
His tone softened a bit as he gently asked. Su Wanxin touched her belly and confessed.
"I felt sick from drinking too much last night. I went to the hospital for a check-up and found out I was pregnant. The doctor said the baby’s condition isn’t great, and if I want to keep it, I’ll need to be hospitalized for a few days for observation."
She paused for a moment, then continued.
"I can’t tell my family about this, and staying in a public hospital might lead to people finding out. That’s why I could only turn to you."
Zhan Che had a private hospital here, where Su Wanxin had previously stayed for illnesses and injuries.
"I’ve always told you to drink less, not to drink. Look, something did happen, right?" Zhan Che nagged worriedly. "Are you planning to keep the baby?"
"I don’t know, I haven’t decided yet."
"You’d better decide quickly. Don’t suffer to keep the baby only to end up not wanting it," Zhan Che pragmatically said. "If not, just get an abortion right now."
"Okay, I’ll think it over carefully."
After they finished eating, Zhan Che drove to the hospital.
He hadn’t been here in a long time. Upon arriving, he immediately gave Su Wanxin a full-body checkup and then scowled as if she owed him money.
"Don’t scold me," Su Wanxin said as soon as he opened his mouth, cutting him off before he could say anything. "I was already lectured by the doctor last night, I don’t want to be scolded by you again."
"Then I’ll just ask one thing." Zhan Che frowned. "If you want this child, can you abstain from alcohol during the pregnancy?"
Su Wanxin didn’t say anything, just nodded repeatedly.
Zhan Che glared at her and went to arrange a hospital room.
Su Wanxin was left alone in the office, her eyes roaming everything in the room, strange yet familiar.
It had been a long time since she had been here, and memories flooded her, bringing a surge of bitterness to her heart.
Zhan Che got busy for a while before coming back to find her. He asked, "Did you bring clothes for changing?"
"Yes, they’re all in the car."
Having stayed in the hospital too many times before, Su Wanxin was very clear about what to prepare in advance.
Zhan Che took her to the hospital room, and Su Wanxin went to the car to get all her stuff sorted, then sat on the bed staring at Zhan Che.
Looking at her, Zhan Che remembered what she had said when she called him last night, his brows furrowing as he asked, "What did you mean by telling me not to let Mu Xinghan know when you asked me to come over?"
He mentioned Mu Xinghan, causing a bit of congestion in Su Wanxin’s heart.
She lowered her head and after hesitating repeatedly, she said, "Mu Xinghan is currently in the Imperial Capital, did you know?"
"Not really clear, haven’t been in touch for some days."
"Then you probably haven’t heard about my memory loss?"
Su Wanxin looked up at him, and seeing the surprise on Zhan Che’s face, she spoke slowly again.
"Over a year ago, I attempted suicide by taking pills and was taken back to the Empire by my family. When I woke up, I couldn’t remember anything."
Zhan Che: "Then how did you...?"
"I remembered, but it’s been less than a week since my memory returned, and sometimes my head still hurts."
Zhan Che, thoughtful, nodded his head, still not understanding why she didn’t want Mu Xinghan to know about their meeting.
Listening to his question, Su Wanxin smiled bitterly and said, "I don’t trust him."
