Shattered by Fate, Restored by Truth

Chapter 745 Pain

Chapter 745 Pain

Su Yao pushed the door open and entered the house, only to find Su Wanxin lying weakly in bed, looking listless.

"How did you catch a cold all of a sudden?"

Su Yao furrowed her brow as she walked to the bedside, watching her take her medicine, and said puzzledly.

"Weren’t you fine yesterday?"

"Mm..." Su Wanxin pursed her lips and smiled. "Maybe I didn’t wear enough when I went out, it’s still quite cold outside."

"Knowing that and you still dressed so lightly? Are you trying to attract trouble?" Su Yao sat beside the bed sideways, touched her forehead, which was still burning hot.

She looked at Su Wanxin’s feverishly red cheeks and said with concern, "Shall we go to the hospital for an injection?"

Su Wanxin shook her head repeatedly, refusing: "No injections, they hurt."

Su Yao laughed, thinking she was joking, but then Su Wanxin rested her forehead on her shoulder, murmuring, "Yaoyao, it hurts."

Su Yao paused, looking down at her, feeling something was amiss.

Su Wanxin, like a docile and gentle kitten, stayed perched on her shoulder, clinging to it and not letting go. Su Yao pondered for a moment, her gaze slightly deepening.

"Wanxin, what’s wrong?"

"I’m fine."

"Don’t lie to me." Su Yao pushed her away, and held her shoulders, forcing her to look back at her. "What time did you leave this morning?"

"Six o’clock? Around that time."

Su Yao: "Is there something going on at the company? I haven’t heard anything."

Su Yao thought she heard someone leaving the house last night as she was about to fall asleep in bed, but she wasn’t sure. But now, it seemed strange.

Did she leave this morning or last night? If it was last night, where did she go?

"Did you go see Fu Shihan last night?" Su Yao quickly thought and guessed.

"No." Su Wanxin shook her head. "I drank too much last night, unaware of his plane accident. If I had gone to see him last night, he wouldn’t have come to see me just now."

"Did he get mad at you?"

"No." Su Wanxin smiled, denying. "He just wanted to come in for a meal, and I sent him away."

Su Yao watched her for a while and sighed. "If he ever bullies you, remember to tell me."

"Mm, I know."

Su Wanxin nodded, and Su Yao chatted with her a little longer before leaving.

The room was quiet again with only Su Wanxin left. She closed her eyes, and her mind was full of thoughts about Fu Shihan.

Cheng Yao must be there beside him, probably arranged by Grandpa.

Thinking of the way Fu Yansheng looked at her last night, Su Wanxin felt as if she had fallen into an icy pond, shivering with cold.

This hurdle, it seemed she could not overcome, just let it be...

Su Wanxin gave a bitter smile, feverish and dizzy, feeling ill and unable to sleep.

Past events continuously circled in her mind; it wasn’t too bad during the day at the company when there were other people around to distract her.

But now, in the quiet of the night, alone, those memories swarmed into her brain, both good and bad alternating non-stop.

Su Wanxin had never thought she might one day forget all that, forget such important things.

Fortunately...

Su Wanxin got up and went to the windowsill, leaning on it and looking outside. After a long while, a car slowly drove to the house and stopped at Fu Shihan’s door.

Su Wanxin slightly widened her eyes, then saw Sheng Qian and Fu Shili get out of the car.

Seeing them, Su Wanxin smiled complexly, pulled the curtains shut, and returned to the bed.
