Chapter 709: Previous Engagement

"Grandpa Lu really likes you," Su Wanxin smiled with pursed lips. "I could tell from the last time we had dinner."

"Actually, I don’t need him to like me this much..." Su Yaoyi said, finding it hard to express. "Really, people shouldn’t get too greedy!"

If it wasn’t for her brain malfunction back then, she wouldn’t be in this mess.

Su Yaoyi described the scene from this evening to Su Wanxin and stated that if there were a next time, even if it meant breaking her legs, she wouldn’t go.

"I think it’s actually okay to go," Su Wanxin seriously stated.

"I don’t think so," Su Yaoyi shook her head seriously. "If this continues, mom and dad will definitely hear some rumors, and by then, even jumping into the Yellow River wouldn’t clear my name."

She seriously considered for a moment and made a decision.

"I don’t have much to do tomorrow morning, I should go have a chat with Lu Ci."

Su Yaoyi was tired and sleepy, she grabbed the blanket and fell asleep soon after. The next morning, she woke up and didn’t return to the law firm, instead, she went straight to Lu Ci’s company.

Lu Ci had stayed at Fu Shihan’s place last night, originally planning to go home, but just as he was about to leave, he saw Fu Shihan coming out from the Su Family house, not looking very happy.

Lu Ci had just finished a morning meeting and returned to his office when he heard his secretary say someone was looking for him. After hearing the name, he frowned, it sounded familiar.

"President Lu, it’s the second Miss from the Guan Family who talked about matchmaking with you before."

Hearing Lu Ci’s silence, the secretary kindly reminded. Lu Ci suddenly realized, and nodded, "What does she want with me?"

"She said it’s about business."

Lu Ci looked at the schedule and allowed the person to come in. A few minutes later, the visitor pushed the door and entered, Lu Ci looked up and greeted her.

"Long time no see, what have you been busy with?" Guan Qing smiled at him and asked softly.

"What else can I be busy with, the usual, work." Lu Ci looked at the folder in her hand and asked, "Here to discuss a partnership?"

"I thought you were busy with a romance," Guan Qing walked over and handed him the file, "I heard you have a girlfriend."

"Who told you that?"

"Isn’t it so? The affair between the eldest Miss of the Su Family and you has been buzzing recently."

Even though the two had never appeared together, the rumors were intensifying.

Lu Ci gave a bitter smile, he had not expected the situation to reach this point, all because of one elder who had seen him dining with Su Yao initially.

Initially, he had planned to introduce his daughter to Lu Ci, and many people were aware of this. Later, Lu Ci found an excuse to cancel the meeting, and perhaps feeling offended, the man grew angry.

Thus, upon learning about the ’relationship’ between Lu Ci and Su Yao, he immediately spread the news.

After all, his daughter losing to the eldest Miss of the Su Family wasn’t shameful anymore.

Thanks to his publicity, Lu Ci and Su Yao’s relationship was practically known to everyone by now. Anyway, everyone in the upper circles of Imperial Capital seemed to know, leaving Lu Ci both amused and helpless.

Because to say it was false, he was indeed pursuing Su Yao.

But to say it was true, he and Su Yao weren’t exactly at that stage yet.
